I've started this thread to have somewhere for those of us who have been through the IVF/ ICSI journey and have finally got our BFP! For support, symptoms chat and whatever else anyway wants to chat about....

@Positivity86 I'd definitely save the money for a scan at 16 weeks instead then! It's not really that long to wait only 14 days.... I've got the wait for the letter and then the scan date too! Although I reckon my scan won't be until I'm around 13 weeks...

I might try and convince hubby to have a scan at 16 weeks for the gender but not sure he will go for it.... but trying isn't going to hurt!

Hi ladies, do you mind if I join you all? Wasn’t quite sure where I fit! Currently 7+1 after my third ivf cycle where I transferred my last two Frosties. Had a natural MMC in January and an ectopic the year before so I’m a bundle of nerves!!! Had a scan at 6+2 and we saw a heartbeat and having one on Saturday at 8 weeks before being discharged from ivf clinic. I kind of just want to go to sleep and wake up at 12 weeks and all is ok!! Xx

Teddybear45 · 01/04/2019 18:18

Currently 5+1, have every symptom under the sun, and am so terrified something’s going to go wrong. How do you guys handle the fear?

brighteye3986 · 01/04/2019 18:28

Welcome @Summerloving17 and @Teddybear45

@Summerloving17 sorry to hear of your hard time. Fingers crossed this is your cycle. It's already sounding positive for you with the scan and a heartbeat. We are all at different stages with some being slightly further along at 11/12 weeks and some of us not quite as far ahead. I had my viability scan at 7+3 and there was a heartbeat. Now just waiting for my NHS 12 week scan appt to come through.

@Teddybear45 it's not easy at all! Everything little thing still makes me worry. I have lots of symptoms that help me through it as I think to myself that if the symptoms are still there something is still happening. If the symptoms eased I think I'd be more worried.

The main thing is, us ladies on this chat have been through the whole process and have been there to support each other through each step.

Hi ladies,

Hope you are all well. Sorry I've been AWOL for the past 2 weeks- sticking my head in the sand! 9w2d today and my next scan is tomorrow so I am extremely nervous! All was well 2 weeks ago but I've had two 8 week losses so I have everything crossed. I have been extremely sick for the past 3 days and vomiting a lot so hopeful whilst it is so unpleasant that it is a good sign.

@Positivity86 I think it depends how anxious you are feeling. If you have had an early loss before or are worried it will probably bring you a lot of peace. If you feel ok waiting then perhaps try and distract yourself for the next couple of weeks.

@Summerloving17 I completely understand how you feel. I've had an EP and a MMC too and completely just want to be in the second trimester already! Good luck for your 8 week scan.

@Teddybear45 the anxiety can be really hard. Perhaps you could try meditation or yoga? I find distraction, keeping busy and sleeping alot are helpful! And just trying to focus on that 'today I am pregnant'

Hope everyone is well.

Summerloving17 · 02/04/2019 08:37

@Brighteye3986, thankyou for the welcome, I’m guessing we are mostly October/November due dates?

@Boboelephant, I’m so sorry you’ve had a rough time too. It’s definitely your time for some happiness, everything crossed for tomorrow and the nausea sounds like a good sign! Did they ever give you an explanation why you might have losses at 8 weeks? I’ve never had any explanation at all!! I think chances of miscarriage are low past 9 weeks so hopefully you can relax a bit after tomorrow. Agree on sleeping through things!!

A quick question- are you all still on your medication till 12 weeks? I’m still on cyclogest and Xx

PrayingandHoping · 02/04/2019 08:46

@Summerloving17 I'm on all my meds till 12 weeks (cyclogest, lubion, progynova, prednisolone, tinzaparin) then some stop immediately and a couple I have to stop slowly

brighteye3986 · 02/04/2019 09:02

@Summerloving17 yes October/ November due dates. I'm due 4th November.

I'm on cyclogest until 12 weeks.

Hello ladies.
I'm a bit of an interloper as I'm due in August - we got our BFP just before Christmas on our third ET (second fresh cycle + frostie in the middle).
Just wanted to say it's so lovely to hear all the good news... I'm currently 20 weeks with a little boy and it's just incredible! I still get nervous and worry about things going wrong, but I've been quite lucky with a calm pregnancy. Have been super tired but not ill, and despite being 36 and IVF I'm considered low risk and have midwife-led care :)
Sending love and happiness to you all xx

Summerloving17 · 02/04/2019 10:11

I think I joined too early, 7+2 and just had a bleed of bright red blood, not enough to fill a pad but so scared it’s over already 😔

Teddybear45 · 02/04/2019 10:16

Morning sickness has gotten worse today. Is this normal to feel sick so early? My nausea started last week (so at 4 weeks). Trying not to google because it seems everything unusual relates to a miscarriage and I promised my DH I’d be positive today.

brighteye3986 · 02/04/2019 11:03

@Summerloving17 fingers crossed everything is ok. Can you ring EPU to seek advice/ try and have a scan to check everything is ok?

I've had a stressful morning in that of receiving a call from one of my sisters at 7.30 to say that my other sister is in hospital after an overdose of paracetamol. I've been an absolute mess this morning but feeling a little better now just tired but I'm at work and have a big meeting this afternoon so can't really nap.

I'm trying to stay happy and positive as don't want anything to affect the baby which is proving difficult. Luckily I have a very supportive work team so they have cheered me up.

PrayingandHoping · 02/04/2019 11:05

@Summerloving17 don't panic. A bit of bleeding can be common, if it hadn't filled a pad that's a good sign. Maybe give the clinic a call and speak to a nurse for reassurance? I had a small amount brown spotting at 6 weeks, rang a nurse who calmed me. Had a scan at 7 weeks and all was fine

@Teddybear45 symptoms seem very different for everyone x

Northernalien · 02/04/2019 11:56

Hi all
I’m 6+1 with my first IVF pregnancy.
I had a scan at my clinic yesterday and had. a lot of pain last week due to a fibroid that I have!
We could see the yolk sac in my uterus but not a heartbeat yet- so I am booked in again on the 9th.
I guess i’m just looking for some reassurance really.
Is it ok not to see the heartbeat at 6 weeks exactly? The nurse said all was absolutely fine but i’ve seen so many ladies who have seen the heartbeat by this point that I am struggling to be optimistic!
I thought getting bfp would be the end of the worries but it seem to have only just begun Grin

CFKent · 02/04/2019 12:40

Hi
I got my BFP a couple of weeks ago. I'll be 6 weeks tomorrow. After the journey my husband and I have been through I'm finding it hard to sink in and think I'll feel like that until I have my first scan which is not for another 3 weeks.
I've taken a few tests to reassure myself. Has anyone else been like this?

Teddybear45 · 02/04/2019 12:56

@cfkent - yes I know exactly what you mean. Hasn’t sunk in yet and am petrified. Googling definitely doesn’t help so i’ve stopped lol.

brighteye3986 · 02/04/2019 13:06

@CFKent I'm 9+1 and I tested last week to check even though I have had a viability scan! The lines were still there. I still get quite a bit of nausea and my boobs and legs ache so much.

I'm trying to currently patiently wait for my 12 week scan date to come through.... easier said than done

OP posts:
Lizzie982 · 02/04/2019 13:54

@Northernalien - after I got my BFP they didn't look for a heartbeat till 7 weeks, it was just there but pretty feint, then stronger at 8 weeks :)
Try not to worry - I know it's impossible - but yes it's just the start! You then worry about the 12 week scan, then about the blood results.... then about the 20 week scan! 😂 but remember that each of these is a milestone in the right direction and fingers crossed you will have your miracle xx

Boboelephant · 03/04/2019 21:13

Hi all. I had good news today. Had my 9 week scan and they've confirmed I've got two bubbas in there! Both with strong heartbeats. 😀

@Summerloving17 did you get to speak to anyone yesterday? Did the bleeding stop? Hope it's all ok. My losses were unrelated so no, not really sure why the 8 weeks. The ectopic ruptured and then the MC stopped growing at that point. I'm also on cyclogest until 12 weeks.

@brighteye3986 so sorry to hear about your sister. Hope she's ok.

@Northernalien I think its normal to hear heartbeat between 6 and 7 weeks so you might just need a few more days. Fingers crossed for the 9th.

brighteye3986 · 04/04/2019 07:09

That's great news @Boboelephant

Thanks- my sister is fine luckily. Just having a hard time which has made her do a silly thing.

OP posts:
Summerloving17 · 04/04/2019 08:02

@Boboelephant what wonderful news!! Congratulations!

@brighteye I hope you are ok and your sister is recovering too. My sister has done something similar and it’s so hard z💐

As for me I’m sadly still bleeding, not as heavy as Tuesday but still there so I don’t think it’s good news. We are on holiday till tomorrow and I have got a scan for first thing Saturday morning when we are back. I can’t believe I had started to get my hopes up after 3 years of hell :( ruined our holiday too. Not sure what I’ll do next as the thought and cost of another fresh cycle is depressing!! Xx

womaninkent · 04/04/2019 09:13

@boboelephant great news!
@brighteye3986 sorry to hear about your sister-one of my sisters had a lot of issues a few years ago and it’s so tough! Have you had a date for your 12 week scan yet?
@summerloving17 sorry you’re having such a rough time. I can see why you’re worried but don’t give up hope completely-lots of people do bleed in a healthy pregnancy as i’m sure you know! Good luck for the scan.

brighteye3986 · 04/04/2019 09:52

@womaninkent and @Summerloving17 thank you. My sister is on the right path and has lots of support around her which is good.

@womaninkent no I'm trying to patiently wait for this to come through... I'm 10 weeks on Monday so hoping it comes through soon. Have you had your scan or is your appointment soon? I'm looking forward to the day I can stop the cyclogest though.

OP posts:
womaninkent · 04/04/2019 10:06

@brighteye3986 my scan is tomorrow. It came through pretty quickly-I’m surprised yours is taking so long-are we in different trusts? My scans are at Pembury.

brighteye3986 · 04/04/2019 10:10

@womaninkent I'm under Medway. I had my midwife last Thursday so would expect it to take around a week to 10 days to come through. How long did yours take to come through? I might give them a call next week to see if they have booked it yet....
