I've started this thread to have somewhere for those of us who have been through the IVF/ ICSI journey and have finally got our BFP! For support, symptoms chat and whatever else anyway wants to chat about....

Glad I found you all. We had IVF/TESE/ICSI with a FET in Jan, my first transfer and am now 11+5 weeks. 24 hour nausea which keeps me awake at night and so very very tired all the time. I too was running for the loo but now I am totally backed up - sorry tmi.
We first had our pregnancy confirmed with a HCG test, then had our first midwife appt at 6 weeks with a Early pregnancy scan and another scan at weeks 7, 8, 9 and now waiting for 12 week scan. When they did the risk matrix at my booking appt at week 7 they did place us as an increased risk due to IVF.

womaninkent · 22/03/2019 20:43

Hi @64632k and welcome! Hope your symptoms are beginning to ease up.

Saltisford · 22/03/2019 21:04

I’m finally off the suppositories! The thing is, I’ve had a few stomach aches since - I wonder if it is my digestive system returning back to normal? Has anyone else experienced this?

I’ve had my booking appointment with my midwife now. She explained that I’m classed ‘high risk’ at the mo as it’s an ivf pregnancy and will need to see a consultant. She said it will be reassessed later on though and may drop to low risk. Apparently we’re also entitled to a few extra scans too later on...?

Positivity86 · 23/03/2019 08:40

@Saltisford I had my midwife appointment on Thursday and she said the same thing about seeing a consultant because it's an IVF baby and that automatically classes as high risk (even though I don't have any of the physical factors to be high risk, if that makes sense). I think it's just what the computer system spits out when they enter the info. She didn't mention any extra scans though. I'm 9+3 and can't wait for the 12 week scan! Only a few days left of the pessaries too. How many weeks are you now?

Saltisford · 23/03/2019 16:26

I’m 11 weeks today yay! I got my scan appointment through and it’s not until I’m 13 weeks 3 days Sad

I also got a consultant appointment letter for 30th April so we’ll see what that’s all about. It’s not at the hospital where I had IVF but my local one where I will give birth x

brighteye3986 · 23/03/2019 17:01

@Saltisford I'm preparing myself for my 12 week scan to be at 13 weeks. I think the NHS website says it can be anytime from 11 weeks to 13+6.

It's not too long to go though. Mine feels like a lifetime away as I will only be 8 weeks on Monday.... I have my midwife appt on Thursday though.

Looking for a bit of hope as my wife is not doing too well at the minute.

We had our single embryo transfer 9 days ago now, so our test day is in 5 days time however my wife did an early pregnancy test 2 days ago and there was a faint line...she tested again today and there was nothing.

She is now very sad and thinks she can feel her period starting. I'm trying to remain positive until test day saturday

womaninkent · 25/03/2019 13:38

@ste34 try not to worry. In the first test she might have been picking up the HCG in the trigger shot and the second test might have been negative because it was just too early. You really can’t be sure until you test on the official test day. I definitely felt at one point like my period was coming, but my test was positive. Another lady felt the same thing and hers did come. Just try to help your wife keep her mind off it as much as possible. Best of luck for the official test day.

Ste34 · 25/03/2019 13:42

@womaninkent
Thank you for your reply. I'm trying my best to keep her positive for test day and have tried for the whole process to keep a positive outlook even if it doesn't happen first time. Fingers crossed.
Thanks again

brighteye3986 · 25/03/2019 14:02

@Ste34 I am with @womaninkent on this. I managed to not test early as knew I could get a false result. I also felt like my period was coming and some days were worse than others.

It's one of the hardest waits ever but my advise would be to try and remain positive and support each other. The symptoms are impossible to gage by and her body and mind are going to be playing all different sorts of tricks on her.

Best of luck for test day

@brighteye3986 thank you

brighteye3986 · 27/03/2019 06:38

Oh my.... 8 weeks is hitting me hard.... the nausea, the extreme fatigue.... I'm struggling to function every day. As soon as I wake up I want to go back to bed. My legs ache so much. Is/ did anyone else have it this bad at around 8 weeks?

OP posts:
Positivity86 · 27/03/2019 13:19

@brighteye3986 I was like that between week 6 and 9 but then it started started easing. I'm now 10 weeks and still shattered but the nausea has improved. Hang on in there!

womaninkent · 27/03/2019 14:26

@brighteye3986 i’m just over 11 weeks and it’s definitely getting better!

brighteye3986 · 27/03/2019 17:38

@womaninkent and @Positivity86 I'm glad it's not just me! I felt so bad yesterday that I struggled all day at work. Today it seemed to hit me about 10.30 and then I've just struggled. I just want to spend all my time in bed.... and tonight I'm going out for dinner, which I know will be good but I can't help thinking about just going to bed... roll on the weekend

Had my booking in appt with my midwife this morning and she also advised me I will be classed as a high risk pregnancy. She advised I will see a consultant around 16 weeks and that I will probably have a few extra scans. She said I'd have a 12, 20 and 36 week scan. Everything seemed positive though. Now to just wait for my appt for my 12 week scan to come through....

Positivity86 · 30/03/2019 08:14

Glad it went well @brighteye3986. I'm still waiting for my 12 week scan appointment, wish it would hurry up!

Ste34 · 30/03/2019 21:19

So unfortunately we had our test day today and it was a negative.
We had a call back from the hospital and they really didn't give us any information or what to do next, they basically said do you want to be put on the waiting list for frozen transfer?
Is that normal? Shouldn't we have a follow up visit?

womaninkent · 30/03/2019 22:26

@ste34 i’m so sorry to hear that. I’m afraid I don’t really know the answer-I hope someone else on here will.

brighteye3986 · 31/03/2019 07:07

@Ste34 I'm sorry it wasn't the news you were hoping for.

I also am unsure what the process would be but if I were in your situation and being unsure as to what happens next, I would be calling the clinic/ hospital again when there are some nurses in who can help answer your questions. I know my clinic were really helpful when I had questions throughout my whole cycle so I'm sure they will be happy to advise you on what happens next.

I'm sorry I can't help you more and wish you all the best for the future.

Hi all, 12 week scan date is finally confirmed for 15 April when I'll be 12+5. Tempted to book a private one a bit earlier...did anyone else do this? I'm struggling to hide it now and I'm sure people at work have noticed!

brighteye3986 · 01/04/2019 13:55

@Positivity86 I think you'd be better off waiting and if going to pay for a private scan do the 16 week one instead. I don't think DH will let me book any private scans 😔.

I'm on my wait now for my scan date and consultant appt to come through. I hate the waiting game....

@Positivity86 oh and I've been showing for the last 2 weeks and I'm only 9 weeks today 😳

I got my 12 weeks scan (well it'll be 12+4) and was surprised to be sent my 20 weeks scan date with it. Arrived Saturday.

I'm having an extra scan next week at 10 weeks. Had the compulsory post ivf 7 week scan and was offered the 10 week one while we were there. We have to pay for it but we are going away for a long weekend with family before the 12 week scan with all the nieces and nephews and will have to tell them, I can't hide it due to nature of holiday! Lol. So having the 10 week scan will make us feel more confident telling them. If it wasn't for going away we prob wouldn't be having it.....

Positivity86 · 01/04/2019 17:42

@brighteye3986 I think maybe I'm just being impatient 😂 my hubby thinks we should wait anyway! We would like to find out the sex at 16 weeks though.

@PrayingandHoping I hope your 10 week scan goes well and enjoy the weekend away telling your family 😊
