Can I join in...

We have been trying to conceive for 5 years to jo success.

Started icsi at the start of April and,
We got our positive after a 3 day egg transfer on Sunday 5th may. Making me 4+5 weeks.

Went in and had our confirmation blood test at the clinic on Tuesday and she said it was a strong positive.

I'm still in shock and have to remind myself 'I'm pregnant'.

What do I do next? We have our 7 week scan at the end on may. But do I need to get in touch with a midwife or do I just wait until I'm discharged from the clinic.

PrayingandHoping · 08/05/2019 12:33

@White13 I went along to my surgery at around 5 weeks to register with the midwife. You don't need to wait. I was aware in my area there is a real backlog being booked in for scans so I wanted to be in the system.

I had my early scan at 7 weeks and saw the midwife at 9 weeks (she contacted me back at 6 weeks) and then had my 12 week scan at 12 weeks.

PrayingandHoping · 08/05/2019 12:33

Oh @White13 I forgot the most important bit!!

Congratulations 🥳🥳🥳

brighteye3986 · 08/05/2019 13:27

Welcome @White13 and congratulations! I agree with @PrayingandHoping and would advise you to get your referral for midwife sooner rather than later. If you're unsure what you need to do for tour area you can just ring your GP surgery who will advise you if you need to go in or if you can self refer on the NHS website. I had my scan at 7+3 and saw the midwife at 8+3. Then had my 12 weeks scan at 12+2. Next NHS scan is booked for when I will be 22+2 but I have a private scan booked for 17+3 as I'm impatient!!

@worriedbutterfly great news!

@white13 congratulations. I agree with the others about registering. Also just keep reminding yourself you’re pregnant-it’s so exciting!!

WorriedButterfly · 08/05/2019 22:13

Thanks girls! Still keeping my fingers crossed!

Good luck tomorrow @DaisyMay25, I had my midwife booking in appt today, seems a bit early but at least it's done.

DaisyMay25 · 08/05/2019 23:12

Thank you @WorriedButterfly I've been winding myself up all day that something will be wrong, I've had shoulder tip pain but I get it now and again but obviously can't help but panic. Nice early appointment though then straight to work.

RedPandaFluff · 09/05/2019 06:27

Good luck @DaisyMay25 - I hope you get to see a little heartbeat, it's so reassuring! And @WorriedButterfly that's great news - don't worry about being a few days out, mine was too and it caught up 💐

Agog123 · 09/05/2019 08:03

Hi all, thought I’d just update I had my 7.5 week scan yesterday and all good with the little one on board - doing it’s thing. As my last baby arrived super early, I’m now going to sit with my legs crossed for the next 20 weeks trying not to panic. Lol

NoCupcakesOrCocktails · 09/05/2019 08:31

Hi everyone have been reading the past week or so but been too nervous to join. Congrats on all the scans and BFPs!

I'm 6+6 after a FET. I have a 3 year old DS from my 3rd ICSI cycle and have had 1 fresh and 3 frozen since then trying for a sibling. I did get pregnant a year ago and went through a long drawn out miscarriage. So I've been very nervous of something going wrong again. My first scan was yesterday and a few hours before I had a big bleed. I went to the scan expecting bad news but instead they found 2 strong heartbeats. I've still been bleeding so still feeling anxious. Thought I would join you all though as I'm trying to be more positive.

NoCupcakesOrCocktails · 09/05/2019 08:32

@Agog123 congratulations on your scan Smile

PrayingandHoping · 09/05/2019 08:48

Twins! Congratulations @NoCupcakesOrCocktails!!!! How exciting! Did u have one embryo or 2 transferred? Can u find out if they are identical?

NoCupcakesOrCocktails · 09/05/2019 08:58

@PrayingandHoping I had 2 blasts transferred so am assuming both stuck. I've not had a double transfer since my first ever ivf (which ended in miscarriage) as I've been too scared of the extra risks with twins. I went with a double transfer this time as I only had 2 frozen left and as it was our 4th transfer it seemed worth the gamble. I'm feeling a bit OMG but obviously will be super grateful if I get to bring both babies home Smile

PrayingandHoping · 09/05/2019 09:00

We have lots of twins in my family and one of my close friends had twins, mines a singleton but I was waiting to be told twin 😂 just think double the fun! 😁😁

NoCupcakesOrCocktails · 09/05/2019 09:09

Ahh twins are so cute, there has been a fair few natural twins in my family as well. It's the practical side which I'm a bit anxious about. I'm not sure I'll be able to afford childcare for them both and if I leave my job it will be hard to get back into. I've been working out how much I can save a month to see if I can afford the childcare, I'm getting ahead of myself though. Got a long way to go!

How many weeks are you now Praying?

PrayingandHoping · 09/05/2019 09:14

I can imagine the thought train. Try not to worry.... I'm sure you will make it work.

I'm 14 weeks. 😁

NoCupcakesOrCocktails · 09/05/2019 09:16

Wow 14 weeks! How are you feeling? I remember I felt really well in my second trimester with my little boy. I was still anxious but it was all starting to feel a bit more real. Have you started telling people?

PrayingandHoping · 09/05/2019 09:21

Feeling myself at the moment.... I'm back doing some of my hobbies I had to stop during the first trimester which is great! Taking is gently but seem to be coping, hoping to keep going until my run turns into a waddle 😂.

I had bleeding weeks 6 and 8 so I'm beginning to feel a bit less anxious now. Looking forward to midwife appointment in 2 weeks and to hear heartbeat again 😁

PrayingandHoping · 09/05/2019 09:23

Yes told family and close friends and then put it on fb after the 12 week scan. It's weird it's now public but at the same time it's a whole lot easier!!! I have a very active life so not doing certain things was raising eyebrows!!!

Announcing on fb on a weekday evening is one way to make your phone explode 😂😂

DaisyMay25 · 09/05/2019 10:22

Thanks @RedPandaFluff
@WorriedButterfly they told me today that if they move the measuring crossing the tiniest bit it can alter it by 5 days! So try not to worry
Scan went great! Everything where it should be, saw the heartbeat flickering away. She measured the sac because the baby in tiny and it measured at 6 weeks exactly, I'm 6+1 so I'm thrilled. Back in three weeks for another scan!

WorriedButterfly · 09/05/2019 10:24

Congratulations @DaisyMay25 ! Wonderful news! 😊

Positivity86 · 09/05/2019 13:50

Congratulations @DaisyMay25 and @NoCupcakesOrCocktails. Lovely news 😊

Positivity86 · 09/05/2019 13:54

Is anyone going to the baby show at the NEC next weekend? We are going on the Sunday. I've been holding off buying any big purchases but now I'm 16 weeks I've relaxed a little!

NoCupcakesOrCocktails · 09/05/2019 17:53

@DaisyMay25 congrats on the scan, it's amazing seeing that little heartbeat 💗

@PrayingandHoping yep nothing like a pg announcement to blow up Facebook

NoCupcakesOrCocktails · 09/05/2019 17:54

@Positivity86 thanks Smile I've heard you can get some great bargains at the baby show. I've never been though
