I've started this thread to have somewhere for those of us who have been through the IVF/ ICSI journey and have finally got our BFP! For support, symptoms chat and whatever else anyway wants to chat about....

@Saltisford that's good. I see the consultant in 2 weeks... hope they say and do similar things. Glad everything is going well for you x

Well it's been an eventful 15 hours. Started bleeding last night, got heavier this morning. Cue A&E and gynae ward attendance. Scan shows a haematoma but thankfully a happy baby on board for now. Gynae doctors shocked that the ivf unit stopped my progesterone so early and have prescribed me some more pessaries to take up to 12 weeks. Just hoping everything stops , so scary

womaninkent · 07/05/2019 11:32

How scary @twiglet2353. So glad to hear everything is ok.

brighteye3986 · 07/05/2019 11:41

Glad to hear everything is ok @Twiglet2353

I've only just stopped the pessaries and I'm 14 weeks now

It's amazing how each clinic is different and has different processes and procedures.

I am feeling rather sorry for myself at the moment with a stinking cold in which there is absolutely nothing I can do except wait for it to go. I went into work this morning and came home about an hour ago and am now working from home instead... joys of pregnancy- but I wouldn't have it any other way!

Out of interest @brighteye3986 what dosage were you on? I was on 600mg Utrogestan once at night, and now gynae have prescribed me 200mg cyclogest once a day until 12 weeks x

brighteye3986 · 07/05/2019 12:33

@Twiglet2353 I was on 400mg cyclogest-one 3 times a day. I carried on with that until I had my 12 week scan and then reduced it down to 2 a day for a week and then 1 a day for another week.

Hello all i dont think ive posted on here before, im on so many threads now i don't know what ive joined lol.

I got my bfp last monday after my 1st round of IVF (ICSI). I'm booked in for my scan on the 16th may, it can't come quick enough, ill be 6+3 then according to the clinic (but if i count from 1st day of last period ill be 7+2). I'm going in a bit earlier as ill be away the following week. I'm on crinone gel for progesterone which is making me breathless at times, ive also got a blocked ear and am feeezing all the time as well as being really tired. No nausea just yet, feeling a bit concerned the crinone is giving me fake symptoms. I really just want to confirm everything is ok, this is as bad as the 2ww!!

Hope everyone is doing well and congrats on your bfps!

PrayingandHoping · 07/05/2019 13:37

@Deeny83 when I have ivf they work out the due date 38 weeks from egg collection. So going on normal dating you were exactly 2 weeks pregnant on the day of egg collection. Hope that garble makes sense

Congratulations 😁

PrayingandHoping · 07/05/2019 13:37

U not I lol

brighteye3986 · 07/05/2019 13:46

Welcome and congratulations @Deeny83. They work out due date counting back 2 weeks from egg collection as they class egg collection as ovulation. Hope that makes sense

Thanks @prayingandhoping that matches up then with the clinic, so ill go with that (so im 5 weeks now)

Deeny83 · 07/05/2019 13:49

Yes it does, thank you @Brighteye3986

Twiglet2353 · 07/05/2019 13:55

@brighteye3986 just had a call from the gynae doctor who has spoken to the ivf consultant who says my body should be producing the progesterone on its own now, however they support me continuing progesterone if I want to. He has recommended going back into 600mg once a day or 200mg three times a day.
I didn't get any side effects with Utrogestan so I'm hoping that I'll find the Cyclogest okay

Are you inserting it vaginally or rectally if you don't mind me asking?

DaisyMay25 · 07/05/2019 13:59

@Twiglet2353 I'm on cyclogest, two at night currently (I can do one in morning and one and night but find it easier to do at the same time) I do them rectally, there's a lot less mess that way. I think vaginally the wax comes out throughout the day but rectally it comes out when I empty my bowels. Sorry for the tmi haha

PrayingandHoping · 07/05/2019 14:02

@Twiglet2353 I was on 2 cyclogest twice a day until 12 weeks and also on lubion. At 12 weeks I dropped the lubion and went down to 1 cyclogest twice a day. At 14 weeks (this Thursday) I go down to 1 once a day and then stop entirely at 15 weeks 😁

The gradual reduction is for my benefit as my body is used to it rather than the baby. 24 hrs after the initial reduction I felt anxiety like I get shortly before a period. Thankfully didn't last long.

brighteye3986 · 07/05/2019 14:10

@Twiglet2353 I was doing them vaginally mainly because I suffer with IBS and sometimes my bowel movements can be unpredictable- sorry TMI!

The wax does leak out around 20-30 minutes after inserting but I just wore liners pretty much all the time.

I know it's not pleasant either way but do which way works for you. It may be that you have to try both to see which you prefer.

Twiglet2353 · 07/05/2019 14:18

@DaisyMay25 @PrayingandHoping Were your Cyclogests both 400mg each?

Felt a bit dubious about administering it rectally just in case it gave me diarrhoea or something but I may try it tomorrow x

PrayingandHoping · 07/05/2019 14:28

@Twiglet2353 yep!

I tried both but ended up doing it vaginally

If anything I found progesterone made me constipated! Now my dose has deceased I've become regular again lol

Twiglet2353 · 07/05/2019 14:47

@PrayingandHoping @brighteye3986 @DaisyMay25 and I'm trying to not overthink my pamphlet that says should not be used in pregnancy as rate of congenital abnormalities unknown and may cause masculisation of the female fetus.
Will not consult Dr Google. Will try and have a nap and stop overthinking everything!

DaisyMay25 · 07/05/2019 19:15

@Twiglet2353 I'm pretty sure mine are 200mg each but not certain. What a strange piece of information although I'm not sure about it, it seems most clinics prescribe it so surely it can't be bad??
I've had to step away from google, it's not my friend!

WorriedButterfly · 07/05/2019 21:11

I had my follow up scan today (7+4). Pleased to say there was a heartbeat! - relieved doesn't cover it!! I am measuring 7 weeks which I'm trying not to overthink. Thank you for your support last week ladies.

I asked about pessaries @Twiglet2353 I have been taking 200mg x3 times a day. They said I could stop now but equally happy to carry on so (because of your post earlier) I wanted to carry on until 12 weeks but I'll start reducing at 10 weeks. Hope you're feeling better. x

Agog123 · 08/05/2019 06:28

@worriedbutterfly congratulations really pleased for you!

Twiglet2353 · 08/05/2019 06:44

Wonderful news @WorriedButterfly !!

Yes I think reading what others have put on here I'm going to gradually reduce them as I start to get to the end of my packets.
I've had no further bleeding or cramping since I inserted the Cyclogest thankfully x

Positivity86 · 08/05/2019 11:39

@WorriedButterfly great news!!

DaisyMay25 · 08/05/2019 12:02

@Twiglet2353 glad the bleeding has stopped, I checked and I take 2x400mg. Hope you're feeling better today.

@WorriedButterfly fantastic news!!

I've got my scan tomorrow (6+1) currently waiting for midwife to call for 8 week appointment (she only works Wednesday)
