@PrayingandHoping and @Twiglet2353 great news about your scans!

@brighteye3986 we are also having a private scan to find out the gender in a couple of weeks, we can't wait either! Your gender reveal idea sounds lovely 😊

@Missmonkeypenny congratulations and welcome! The best feeling isn't it!

Can I just ask, did you book in with a midwife as normal or do your clinic do all of that for you? There’s a very, very long wait in my area for appointments so just wanted to check!

WorriedButterfly · 01/05/2019 14:50

@Missmonkeypenny I saw my gp and they referred me, but you can self refer. I don't believe your clinic will do it for you.

Things aren't looking so good for me today I had my scan this am (6+5) and no heart beat - there was a gestational sac, yolk sac and something in the sac measuring 6+3 days, I have another scan on Tuesday and praying we see a healthy heart beat. The waiting feels like an eternity, I wish it wasn't a bank holiday! The clinic told me not to be discouraged but from what I've read it doesn't look good. x

PrayingandHoping · 01/05/2019 15:14

@Missmonkeypenny you need to contact your surgery and find out how to refer to midwife. I just had to fill out a form in surgery and then she phoned me

@WorriedButterfly everything crossed. They say heartbeat isn't to be expected for definite until 7 weeks 🤞

brighteye3986 · 01/05/2019 15:43

@WorriedButterfly fingers crossed for you. Hopefully it's just a little too early for the heartbeat to be detected. A lot of sites say 7 weeks so don't give up hope just yet! I know it's really difficult not to give up hope but please don't.

@Missmonkeypenny definitely contact your GP and ask. I just did a self referral online for my area. Each area is different but you will need to do it sooner rather than later otherwise everything will be delayed and they may not be able to carry out certain tests etc if you leave it too late.

@worriedbutterfly I know it’s hard to do, but honestly the measurements of the little ones are so, so tiny that a mm out puts the date back. I had a scan at 7.4 weeks last time, and it was measuring 6.5 and I was convinced something was horribly, horribly wrong - got a private scan at 10 weeks and everything was bang on.

Thund4rcat · 01/05/2019 16:34

Hi all, haven't been on in a while because have been too sick. Got nausea at 5 weeks, vomiting at 6 weeks and hospitalised with hyperemesis gravidarium at 7 weeks! Been too uncomfortable to feel good about this long awaited pregnancy :(

Been in A&E for 2 nights and they're probably going to keep me in tonight too!

I really hope this sickness doesn't last too much longer.

Congrats to all the new people, and don't worry, apparently only an unlucky 1% of pregnancies get HG!

womaninkent · 01/05/2019 17:43

@worriedbutterfly thinking of you. Don’t give up hope!

Positivity86 · 01/05/2019 20:53

@WorriedButterfly thinking of you and try and stay positive x

brighteye3986 · 04/05/2019 06:06

@Thund4rcat sounds like you've had an awful time recently. Hope you're feeling better

Anyone had their 16 week appointment with their midwife yet? I'm just curious what they do....

OP posts:
womaninkent · 04/05/2019 08:47

Hi @brighteye3986. Had mine on Thursday. They checked my urine blood pressure and carbon dioxide levels. They talked me through the results of the blood tests from the booking in appointment. Best of all they listen to the baby’s heartbeat on the Doppler monitor-so wonderful to hear although apparently they can’t always find it at 16 weeks. Oh and obviously they gave me some more leaflets to add to the leaflet mountain from the booking in session.

Hope you are well and enjoying second trimester.

brighteye3986 · 04/05/2019 08:54

@womaninkent thank you. That's great to hear they attempt to listen to baby's heartbeat. It's nice to finally have the nausea ease off. I'm looking forward to getting some energy back though. I still feel tired all the time. Luckily I only have 2 weeks to wait until I see the midwife again. I have my consultant appt the day before my midwife appt too. Not sure what to expect there either and DH is unable to come with me due to work. I know he is entitled to 2 appts unpaid but I don't really want him to waste them if he doesn't need to. Also our next NHS scan is a couple of hours before he is due to start work and the last appt overran by almost 2 hours so he may need that time then.

I hope you are enjoying your second trimester too and everything is going well for you x

So I went to the gp the other day for something non pregnancy related but me tinned it to her because she referred us in the first place.

Anyway, she put my name forward to the midwife but doesn't seem to think I'll have a booking appointment until 12 weeks because of early scans, anyone else dealt with that?

brighteye3986 · 04/05/2019 10:57

@DaisyMay25 I had my scan at 7+3 and saw my midwife at 8+3. How far along are you? It also depends on the area and how busy they are etc.

Hi everyone - I dropped out for a while because I've been too terrified to join in discussions. Just had a little read of the thread to catch up - so lovely to see all the scans and everyones pregnancies progressing!

I had a bright red bleed for a few hours on Tuesday (5+3) which faded to brown. Went to the EPU where they examined me and took blood, they called me in for a scan the next day as my hcg levels were high enough (6785). The scan on 5+4 showed a gestational sac and yolk sac, but no foetal pole. The sonographer wasn't overly concerned and said it might just be a little early, but of course I'm freaking out. The gestational sac was only 8mm as well, which seems a little small.

So I've booked a private scan for tomorrow, which is 6+1 as I can't wait until Wednesday, which is my scan at the fertility clinic. I am so, so worried that something has gone wrong. I'm praying for a heartbeat tomorrow!

brighteye3986 · 04/05/2019 13:28

@RedPandaFluff oh what an awful time for you to be going through. I have read many stories where people have had bleeds in their pregnancy and have gone on to have a healthy pregnancy. I have my fingers crossed for you for your scan tomorrow. I know it's easier said than done but please don't give up hope x

womaninkent · 04/05/2019 16:34

Got my fingers crossed for you @redpandafluff.

DaisyMay25 · 04/05/2019 17:05

@brighteye3986 I'm currently 5+3, I've got a scan at 6+1 then I think another at 9+1 but I get discharged after the one next week so I'm not really sure. I think the midwife will be willing to see me at 8 but the doctor said12 so I have no idea, I think I'll try push for 8?

@RedPandaFluff I'm glad the bleeding stopped! I have everything crossed for you!!

brighteye3986 · 04/05/2019 17:10

@DaisyMay25 I'd definitely push for 8 weeks as they refer you for your nhs scans and if you don't get seen until 12 weeks it may be too late for certain tests etc

OP posts:
DaisyMay25 · 04/05/2019 17:13

@brighteye3986 I thought as much, I think the midwife is giving me a call on Wednesday so I'll push for it best I can, thanks for the help Smile

Hello everyone - I haven’t posted for a while - I’m 17 weeks now. I saw my consultant for the first time at 16 weeks and so didn’t have the appointment with my midwife. They listened to the heart beat (amazing) and explained that I’d have additional scans at 28 weeks and 36 weeks despite no other health problems, just an IVF pregnancy. Anyone else experienced this? X
