Hi! So I got my BFP on Christmas Eve and am just under 5 weeks. It's quite a lonely time keeping quiet until after 12 weeks so I thought I would start a thread for ladies who are roughly the same time along so we can keep each other company and talk about this exciting time!

What are people symptoms? Do you feel pregnant yet?? I feel pretty normal! Maybe a little more tired but otherwise fine.
How are people going to play New Year's Eve? We have a big do on the 31st and a family lunch on the 1st - don't know how I'm going to get away without drinking!

Xx

Hi Poppy, yes I think I feel the same as you! I have a long history of anxiety / depression and also tokophobia (not sure of spelling but basically a phobia of pregnancy!)
I’m going to the GP today to get referred for mental health help during the pregnancy - I’ve become pregnant before and taken the EMA because I freaked out due to anxiety. So my gp is aware that I am prone to anxiety. Could you do the same? If your doctor brushes you off, find another one! If she says something like Oh everyone is panicky about being pregnant, find another one.

I also lie awake at night panicking I’ve made a horrible mistake.

Weirdly - I’m not recommending this exactly just saying - I went for an interview to be a nanny with a young family. And they just adore their child and are so glad they had him. And getting that kind of first hand experience was very positive!

@attibones

I’m also freaking out over maternity pay! I work three part time jobs so can’t find out if I’ll qualify and if I go for maternity allowance i stead do I need to be on benefits first? I’ve never been on benefits and the thought of going to a job centre makes my pregnancy nausea worse!

ShowerTheHorse · 16/01/2019 17:55

Hi everyone, can I join? I'm due the 21st September. Got a positive on Saturday.

@GenialGiraffe I'm exactly like you and had a missed miscarriage in August. I'm worrying about everything at the moment!

GenialGiraffe · 16/01/2019 19:11

Me too @ShowerTheHorse! I've had a bit of spotting in the past couple of days and now I'm worried. I'm sorry to hear about your MMC and congratulations on your BFP.

Motherduckers · 16/01/2019 19:41

Hello! Can I join? Found out at the weekend that we’re expecting baby number 3. Total shock.
Conceived, without question, on Christmas Day 😂 so due 24th September. Yikes!
At the moment feeling fine, mildly queasy and tired. Dreading the sickness that I had with both previous pregnancies and wondering how on earth i’ll cope with two pre schoolers and throwing up constantly. It’ll be fine, won’t it?! X

Hi all I had my scan at the EPU today and thankfully all was well. Tiny embryo with tiny heartbeat, whole thing only 3mm long. Isn't it incredible that something that tiny can have a heartbeat and is the beginning of a whole human being. Blows my mind.

I know that lots can still go wrong in the upcoming weeks, so am still trying not to get ahead of myself with looking forward. If someone had scanned me at week 6 in my pregnancy over the summer they would have said all is fine but the baby stopped developing 2 weeks later. I looked at the miscarriage reassurer and the odds of that miscarriage were just 4.5% so while I do think it's a good tool if you're feeling generally anxious, it isn't something I set that much store with any more as I know I have been unlucky before. Sad. It was good to be able to tell the nurses there though how much I appreciated their excellent and sensitive care when I had my miscarriage, it really was second to none.

I am however feeling nauseous and exhausted for quite large parts of the day so I guess that's a good sign. This pregnancy definitely feels stronger. Still full of cold though and can't take much so that doesn't help me feel better.

Moving Friday so having to pack all our worldly goods tomorrow. No energy but will have to find it from somewhere!

LaVieEstBelle8 · 17/01/2019 05:07

Hello ladies!

Can I join? I just found out I'm about 4 weeks pregnant- I had 2 positive tests yesterday and 2 today. Kept checking as original lines were faint and I didn't believe it!
All my apps are telling me different gestation! Hoping for a sticky little bean and I'm looking forward to seeing how you are all doing on this thread x

Firsttimer86 · 17/01/2019 13:04

Hi everyone!

I’m only 8 weeks but starting to show considerably, is there anyone else in the same boat?! It’s getting trickier to hide at work...!

Karigan195 · 17/01/2019 13:23

Yep. I have quite a bump already. I’ve been googling like crazy and think it’s because it’s my second. Also apparently although the baby is only small your uterus by this stage has expanded from avocado stone size to grapefruit size shoving everything else up a bit.

Personally I feel kind of fat and full but am quite amused as scales are staying much the same whilst my waistline is expanding!

Megan2018 · 17/01/2019 13:32

I have a bump at 5+4 but it is all bloat. I feel like a whale already!

Karigan195 · 17/01/2019 14:25

Ugh hormones are getting to me! The new Gillette advert actually made me cry. Wtf

bananamonkey · 17/01/2019 15:30

I feel super bloated and “round”. Had my MW appointment yesterday and realised my dates were wrong , I’m actually 9+3! Blush

Appointment went well though, it’s a new MW who seemed lovely, should have a scan appointment in the next 2 weeks. I want to get excited now but still seems too soon, hate the waiting!

MrsLBear · 17/01/2019 18:29

@Firsttimer86 I feel the same!! I'm 6+1 and I can't suck my tummy in like I used to be able to and after lunch it's so so bad. I wear a fitted tunic to work as well so there is no hiding! Not sure how I'm going to hide it till 11+2 when my scan is and I won't tell everyone at work until 12+1 due to work timings!

excitednerves · 17/01/2019 19:25

I’m the same! So bloated, and worse at night. Thank goodness it’s January and I can pass it off as Christmas indulgence! I’ve had to go up a bra size though, and I’m only at 8 weeks!

l0psy · 17/01/2019 19:53

Hi!
I just found out today, all the calculators say I'm five weeks :o
Still sh*tting myself as haven't really had any symptoms besides cramping a few weeks ago and heartburn, and this is definitely unplanned (but very wanted on my part!).
Trying to quell my anxiety and let things happen as they're meant to, but MAN that is super hard!!
any advice on how to get rid of the worries?

Firsttimer86 · 17/01/2019 21:22

I0psy - my only advice would be try not to google, it makes the anxiety worse I find. It’s tempting I know (I’m 8 weeks and have spent a lot of time googling every twinge/worry but apart from Mumsnet nothing actually helped!) in the long run you know your body best. I had a bad pain on my left side and convinced myself it was ecoptic due to what I found online but it turned out to be a harmless cyst that had burst. I think it was actually someone on here who suggested it could be that but in the meantime I was also googling and calling NHS 111 who also said it was likely ectopic. I’m sure everything will be fine with your pregnancy, the time will fly by.

Thanks to all the ladies who responded about having a preggo belly at 8 weeks! Good to know I’m not alone! X

PoppySeed91 · 17/01/2019 23:17

@l0psy @firsttimer86

I’m with you guys, pooping my pants and googling any pain remotely below my waist! Convinced my self several times they’re bad pains and then spent forever talking myself down again! I was considering getting an early scan, any of you girls with preggo anxiety find it helped? Or did it just alleviate the fear for 24 hours or so? It’s shown me just how much of a control freak I really am!

sa11zza · 18/01/2019 08:10

Wow yesterday was the worst day I've had so far, I felt horrendous all day with nausea and fatigue, so hard when at work, I think if I could have napped I might have been ok! I'm now dreading work today incase I'm the same, anyone else suffering!? I'm 6 weeks 6 days pregnant.

Anondonkey · 18/01/2019 08:37

I am the same as you @sa11zza (6+6) and have had the odd rough day at work, feeling like I could just curl up and sleep (despite having slept 8-9 hours the night before Confused) and I have found a handful of grapes or an apple has helped me perk up a bit!

Firsttimer86 · 18/01/2019 09:18

@poppyseed91 I did have an early scan but that’s because they needed to check out the pain at the hospital. I’d say get one if you’re really anxious or have pain as it really does alleviate worry and if you’re far enough along to see a little heartbeat it’s lovely. But if you think you can hang on till the 12 week mark then do, it does go quickly x

sa11zza · 18/01/2019 09:26

@Anondonkey I have a box of plain crackers with me to work today and hopefully nibbling on them helps! I was actually craving grapes the other night funnily enough so maybe I'll get some later and try that too, thanks for the tip!
Have you got any of your appointments in place yet!? I have my booking app with the midwife on Tuesday.

TwittleBee · 18/01/2019 09:28

yup suffering here too sa11zza ! Doenst help with DS wanting to start the day at 4am atm too! Ive got a big bag of nuts with me at work today to help power me through. I've been losing my appetite but if I dont eat regularly I start to feel dizzy and tired so keeping energy levels up with snacks (even if its forced)

Whisky2014 · 18/01/2019 09:41

Headaches have started for me :( pounding last night and all through night. Woke up and still pounding away. I've caved and taken paracetamol but I really didn't want to.

Whisky2014 · 18/01/2019 09:43

Poppyseed91 early scan didnt help me and i wish i didnt get it, made it worse actually.

Justanother123 · 18/01/2019 09:46

Can I join? Had a positive test on Tues when my period was due. I think I’m due between the 21st-24th Sept but a bit confused 😂. This is number 3. I have a 14 & 11 year old so it’s been a long time since I’ve done this and I’m terrified!!
