Hi! So I got my BFP on Christmas Eve and am just under 5 weeks. It's quite a lonely time keeping quiet until after 12 weeks so I thought I would start a thread for ladies who are roughly the same time along so we can keep each other company and talk about this exciting time!

What are people symptoms? Do you feel pregnant yet?? I feel pretty normal! Maybe a little more tired but otherwise fine.
How are people going to play New Year's Eve? We have a big do on the 31st and a family lunch on the 1st - don't know how I'm going to get away without drinking!

Xx

Perhaps she is being a bit of a bridezilla about it all then! Hopefully she will realise it was the wrong thing to say!

WLondon30something · 15/01/2019 13:37

Hello ladies, mind if I join you? Very early pregnancy for me -period not actually due until this Sat but tested positive last night on a first response. Trying to get through the day at work but finding it IMPOSSIBLE to concentrate. First month of TTC, and first pregnancy, but also an older mother at 37, so I’m very aware that things seem to be going a bit too smoothly so far. If all goes to plan I will be due late Sept. Nice to ‘meet’ you all, I’m looking forward to following your stories and experiences!

DuggeesWoggle · 15/01/2019 13:51

Congratulations WLondon, so much head mashing goes on because of those 2 little blue/pink lines!

Ok so sweaty feet and hands - is this a thing in early pregnancy? My feet get drenched then go all clammy and my hands are all slimy and sweaty too. Eurgh. Maybe it's just because I'm still in the grip of this virus, maybe I'm sweating it out. But it's horrible. Been like this for a few days now. Weird things happen with altered hormones!

Megan2018 · 15/01/2019 14:59

@WLondon30something

Congrats! I warn you that 9 days after my first test it does not get any easier to concentrate. In fact I think slightly worse, as once the adrenaline wears off the real panic sets in.

I am not sure how I will get to the scan without going insane!

PoppySeed91 · 15/01/2019 15:15

Hi! I’m 5 weeks today, EDD 17/09/19! Is anyone else suffering crippling anxiety?! This is my first and I’m absolutely petrified something could go wrong, I’ve barely slept since I found out? Anyone else excited but having it smushed a little bit by being so worried??

WLondon30something · 15/01/2019 15:20

Totally get the excited vs anxious thing. I’ve never had something so important be so outside of my control before... Not a comfortable place for this control freak to be!

Karigan195 · 15/01/2019 15:28

Yep poppy. Every day. I’m refusing to get attached as I’m so worried I’ll get to the 12 week scan and baby will have stopped growing at 7 weeks or have some ailment that means he or she can’t survive. It’s torture. Partners talking about names and plans and I feel like a doom monger 😕

appless · 15/01/2019 15:35

I think some anxiety is totally normal. But I also think it's important to remember that MOST pregnancies go fine, and to remain positive. Missing sleep over anxiety is not good.

Megan2018 · 15/01/2019 16:01

I am the doom monger too. Not helped by my obsessive statistic reading. I am almost 41, DH is 45. This basically means our odds are horrific of either miscarriage, still birth or anomalies. One study said 58% chance of something going wrong. Even the GP said 33%. I want to be excited but can't see any way to get the stats out of my head.

I've just told my boss - I felt I should as I'll need time off if the worst happens and because we have some work events on that I may not be able to do if the sickness strikes. I am also all over the place and not performing well (am a senior manager in HE). She was lovely but shocked as I don't think she expected it from someone my age!

We have agreed to not tell anyone else until I confirm I am happy to post 12 weeks.

GenialGiraffe · 15/01/2019 16:12

Hi everyone, I just got a BFP after having a missed miscarriage and ERPC at 12 weeks back in September with my first pregnancy. I'm cautiously optimistic and if all goes well I will be due around the 22nd September.

I'm also having trouble concentrating at work WLondon30something. I know from experience that the next 8 weeks will go really slowly!

Karigan195 · 15/01/2019 16:15

Same. I am 41 although DP is 31. I did however find a calculator that says even at our age once past about 6 weeks the chances of miscarriage drop drastically. By 7 weeks it was 15%. I think the horrible statistics take the chemicals and very early losses into consideration too.

Megan2018 · 15/01/2019 16:40

Thanks Karigan
Currently 26.5% for me which is not so bad I guess
I'll cling on to getting to 8 weeks where it is 7.9%

Whisky2014 · 15/01/2019 17:11

I have a proability of 6.4% BUT if i have this bicornuate or septate uterus I think my odds are much higher. :(

I called midwife to tell them what happened at my early scan and she said I just have to wait until 12 week scan and that's why early scans aren't great...they just inflict worry. I agree, I wish I never did it. 5 weeks to wait arggg

AttiBones · 15/01/2019 18:22

Hello, can I join in here? Due around 25th of September. This was a very wanted pregnancy, I just expected it to take more than a month of trying to conceive!
Is anyone else absolutely terrified? I know it's probably just the hormones, but I'm in a bit of a pickle, lots of questions going through my head etc about not having my shit together, can we afford it, maternity pay (euugghh) FOMO, things I've never been bothered about before. Then of course I feel guilty and ungrateful as this is so very much what I wanted, and I know lots of people would give their right arm to be where I am right now! So yeah, hormones are fun!! Can someonw hold my hand and tell me its all going to be ok?!?!? Confused

Megan2018 · 15/01/2019 18:52

@Whisky2014
That’s the thing with stats isn’t it, so many variables individually. I can imagine why you don’t feel reassured. it probably will be fine, you know that. But it doesn’t help does it!

I’m not opting for anything early apart from NIPT which includes a scan but it will be 10 weeks+

Midwife called me today but from unknown number and didn’t leave a number so can’t call back. Grrr!

Whisky2014 · 15/01/2019 18:55

Oh that's annoying. Can you Google to maybe find a number for them?

BeeYouTiful · 15/01/2019 18:59

Hey all haven't been in this thread for a while. Small update, had a bleed yesterday out of nowhere (thought I was 6+3) went today for an early scan. Sonographer was really happy with what she saw, correct size sac etc but thinks I'm slightly behind and my dates 5-6 weeks. She said it's so common to see an empty sac as it's just so early on but my heart did skip a few beats. Going to be the longest two weeks ever. She just didn't seem bothered about it at all (in a nice way) she was all smiles. Yet I can't seem to smile myself just yet!

The bleeding stopped after about 10 minutes actually, and fingers crossed it never comes back. The bleed showed on the scan it was totally seperate to the sac and could have been where it had implanted in.

Hope everyone is doing well and not spending too much time with their heads down the toilet yet x

CJB9 · 15/01/2019 19:07

YES! so anxious! I was on AL last week which made it worse but being back in work this week is easing it a little!

Yorkie64 · 15/01/2019 19:30

Hello all! I found out a few days ago that I'm pregnant. I'm 38 and we had just got our heads around stopping contraception but expected it to take few months - one month in and we're reeling slightly that it's happened so fast! Not a complaint at all, just a bit of a shock! I think I'm due mid September. I've had cramps for about 2 weeks solid and they were really intense the night before I did my test as well as an upset tum. I've also had my first ever nose bleed which I think is linked - isn't it weird what our bodies start to do! I also feel anxious and get to the end of each day and think 'thats one day closer to the 12 weeks'. I'll be glad when I'm there. Congratulations to everyone!

derikthesheep · 15/01/2019 19:34

Hi all, I'm a bit late joining but only just found you. This pregnancy was a total shock - I had a contraceptive failure - my coil came out, so took the MAP pill as a precaution. Had sore boobs a few weeks later and was exhausted so took a test not really expecting anything, and here I am! My baby is 4 and I just applied to uni to do a PhD so not exactly planned Shock Grin. I'm pro-choice but as soon as I saw the positive I didn't feel I could terminate personally.

Not sure how far along I am as I'm not sure when I conceived, as the coil could have already been out of position for a while, but based on period I think I'm due beginning of September.

Having the usual symptoms for me (I have 3 older kids), IBS, nausea, horrible taste permanently, thirsty, nightmares, peeing and exhaustion and just trying to juggle work, the kids and everything. Part of me still can't really believe it despite 4 BFP so far. Going to the midwife on Friday so will get more clarity then.

I'm also on medication and can't just stop it so have to see the psychiatrist next week. Quite worried about the impact it is having on the baby but the GP just said keep going and wait for the psych before coming off.

Anyway this was a bit of an essay! I have told a few people in RL but still trying to wrap my head around the whole thing tbh!

PoppySeed91 · 15/01/2019 19:46

You girls have made me feel so much better about being a ball of anxiety! I also just had to go to the docs as I think I have mild food poisoning Sad but he really put my mind at ease, I’m just going to take a battering for my little poppy seed and we will be fine! Positive mental attitude! Also if anyone is feeling nauseous I got some acupressure wristbands from boots and they definitely seem to have taken away the worst of it - for now at least! I’d recommend giving them a go! Smile

Yorkie64 · 15/01/2019 20:05

I love the apt user name!

WLondon30something · 15/01/2019 20:17

I feel like I’m here too early!
During the day I was struggling to concentrate but otherwise feeling good, this evening I’ve got cramps that feel just like AF is on the way and I got some slightly pink discharge. Did another first response test and definitely positive but because I wouldn’t be due on until the weekend this all feels too surreal and like thinking about it too much will jinx it. So, going to try to chill out, take a more relaxed approach and stay off forums for next few days. It’s only our first month TTC, so it’s not a huge deal if it doesn’t work out this time.

If all goes well I’ll see you all next week, and if not, good luck to everyone x

Megan2018 · 15/01/2019 20:45

@WLondon30something
I understand that!
Just to say though, I have felt AF about to start ever since my test result 10 days ago GP says that is completely normal. Good luck!
