Hi! So I got my BFP on Christmas Eve and am just under 5 weeks. It's quite a lonely time keeping quiet until after 12 weeks so I thought I would start a thread for ladies who are roughly the same time along so we can keep each other company and talk about this exciting time!

What are people symptoms? Do you feel pregnant yet?? I feel pretty normal! Maybe a little more tired but otherwise fine.
How are people going to play New Year's Eve? We have a big do on the 31st and a family lunch on the 1st - don't know how I'm going to get away without drinking!

Xx

@TwittleBee how exciting! How many weeks do you think you'll be at your early scan.. I really want one too I'm so impatient sadly I live very rural and closest early scan is a 6 hour round trip.

At badminton last night I told my pal and coach that I was pregnant but only around 6 weeks and that I hadn't told anyone but I was having quite bad anxiety around going incase I needed a rest or Maybe a little sluggish on the court so it put my mind at rest speaking to her, she is a mum of two and had similar symptoms to me in early pregnancy and managed to stay playing as well so feeling loads better today!

The only pregnancy symptoms I've got are slightly weird feeling boobs, and hot flushes! Maybe I'll be lucky or maybe the rest is on its way!

tinatsarina Could you explain a bit more about this please? Hospital referral I mean...

I have my midwife appt booked in 3 weeks and I believe she'll refer me to the hospital then. Thing is, there is another hospital I would prefer to be at than the one closest (not much in it, distance wise). Purely because the closer one is not the nicest area - totally xenophobic of me I know but this will be my child's registered place of birth for their whole lives and show on their passport, etc.

Does anyone know, will I be given a choice of hospitals? I'm scared they'll force me to go to the one I dont want to.

GemmaJen · 11/01/2019 12:43

@Josico58 if they're anything like my midwife they will give you the choice. You can also transfer later if you want to, it just causes some paperwork for the midwife.

sa11zza · 11/01/2019 12:47

I think you'd be able to choose unless the unit is at capacity! It's possible for me that if I go into labour at home I'll have a 3 hour drive to the hospital.. what a scary thought! We have a hospital only 30 miles away but they have chosen to downgrade the hospital and think it's safer for us mums to travel such a distance!

Whisky2014 · 11/01/2019 13:25

I noticed the lower half of my areola (the section under my nipples) are swollen. Is this because my boobs are bigger and there's more weight or what? Does anyone else have this? Im an F cup so quite large anyway. Not sure though Confused

TwittleBee · 11/01/2019 14:17

sa11zza could you make a day trip out of it? Tie it in with some shopping and lunch? Is a long way to go for just a scan! I should be 7weeks+4 by then!

I know mine proper puffed out with 1st pregnancy Whisky2014

TwittleBee · 11/01/2019 14:17

(And they don't go back btw!)

Whisky2014 · 11/01/2019 14:25

Oh really? Wow so many things I don't know!

bananamonkey · 11/01/2019 14:58

Well done sa11zza on the badminton, I’m really struggling with not exercising, I’ve managed one run in the last month and was so useless. Had a sickness bug and now a virus so sure that’s not helping, can’t wait to feel a bit more normal!

sa11zza · 11/01/2019 15:37

As far as I'm aware all scans and appointments can be done locally just the labour so far away!

Josico58 · 11/01/2019 16:01

sa11zza thats bloody ridiculous. Is there no where else you could go (ie birthing centre) thats closer? Saying that I would want to be in a hospital for my 1st birth for sure.

Megan2018 · 11/01/2019 16:06

@sa11zza

I feel for you with the 3 hours - that's a long way! My cousins wife had similar but they are in Oz.
Ours is about an hour in daytime traffic, less at night. We have a local birthing unit which is only about 20 mins away but if they won't give me an elective section I'll be going for full drugs and epidural on a ward. Complete wuss.

sa11zza · 11/01/2019 17:56

The local hospital is midwife lead only so unfortunately if I chose to give birth there it's at my own risk.. if anything was to happen it would be talked over the telephone what to do as it would be too far away for someone to come up! Slightly disappointing and scary that they downgraded the unit here but nothing we can do.

excitednerves · 11/01/2019 18:04

@whisky2014 if it’s any reassurance to you, I felt like my symptoms went away a few days ago too, then followed with a bit of bleeding this week, my GP referred me to the early pregnancy unit. I had a scan this afternoon, baby is in there, in the right place, saw a little heartbeat in my little bean. Sonographer assured me there’s nothing wrong, just to relax until my next scan at 12 weeks. Hopefully the same for you too. I’m just trying to convince myself to relax and wait out the next 5/6 weeks.

Sending positive thoughts to you!

excitednerves · 11/01/2019 18:08

@whisky2014 - replying to your post from yesterday. Phone hadn’t updated the full thread yet!

Whisky2014 · 11/01/2019 18:10

Oh that's great news excitednerves. You must have been so happy to see all is ok.
I have my scan on Sunday so not long to wait. Thanks for replying to me

excitednerves · 11/01/2019 19:13

Good luck on Sunday @Whisky2014!!!

Sydneysider2019 · 12/01/2019 03:14

Has anyone had their hcg levels tested? Mine were around 4800 at 19dpo - could that mean twins? Can’t wait for first scan in 2 weeks...

Josico58 · 12/01/2019 12:22

Sydneysider2019 where do you get this done, midwife appt?

How would you feel about twins? I’ve always said I would love them! But that’s aside of thinking practically and financially about it.

challengeyourreality · 12/01/2019 16:54

Hi everyone, the last few days things have changed for me - I am exhausted. My body feels like lead. I managed errands and class drop offs and am now finished for the day. Going to be a struggle to force myself to cook dinner. Last night I fell asleep with my DC (8pm) and was up at 08.30am this morning! And I could do it again, right now until morning! Send gpod emergy vibes please. Who else is feeling this fatigued?

sa11zza · 12/01/2019 17:00

@challengeyourreality how far along are you!? I have literally just woken from a 3 hour snooze not sure if this is pregnancy properly hitting or if I just over done it this week.. I'm around the 6 weeks mark, my calculations say 6 weeks today!

Whisky2014 · 12/01/2019 17:02

Me! I have been napping every day. Im not even working cause im signed off do doung very little and i still feel exhausted. Although I do struggle to sleep at night but then I sleep to 10am!

DuggeesWooOOooggle · 12/01/2019 17:30

I am utterly exhausted challengeyourreality, I have a really bad cold on top of the pregnancy tiredness, blocked and painful sinuses etc. And I have started getting a bit of nausea too, sometimes waking up at 4am feeling sick. Plus we're moving house next Friday so got all that to deal with. And a toddler to wrangle, who often doesn't go to sleep til 9pm.

I just want and need to rest!!

GemmaJen · 12/01/2019 17:48

@challengeyourreality Today is the first time I've felt tired, haven't been having symptoms yet, but could totally snooze right now. I know it sounds counter intuitive, but I'd welcome some nausea and ongoing fatigue. I stopped monitoring bbt and testing today and I'm freeking out, symptoms would at least make this feel real.

Stacey1215 · 12/01/2019 18:36

Hi guys! I recieved my BFP on 10th Jan! Through a blood pregnancy test at the docs, a clear blue digital and x2 cheap tests! No denying that then! Only 4weeks, third baby, only decided Novemeber we would try for a third so happened pretty quick! Back at docs tuesday and getting booked in for midwife, all happened so fast. Due September too!
