Hi! So I got my BFP on Christmas Eve and am just under 5 weeks. It's quite a lonely time keeping quiet until after 12 weeks so I thought I would start a thread for ladies who are roughly the same time along so we can keep each other company and talk about this exciting time!

What are people symptoms? Do you feel pregnant yet?? I feel pretty normal! Maybe a little more tired but otherwise fine.
How are people going to play New Year's Eve? We have a big do on the 31st and a family lunch on the 1st - don't know how I'm going to get away without drinking!

Xx

I am full of cold and feel like absolute shite.
No real symptoms yet at 5+4, just shattered which you don't want a cold on top of!

I can't get excited about this pregnancy until I actually have some symptoms, last time I had very few symptoms and it ended in miscarriage - I can just see this one going the same way as I don't feel nearly as bad as I did with my son. Although on the other hand I don't want to feel sick on top of all this as well, especially as we're moving house next week!!

ChristieEdgecombe · 09/01/2019 13:56

Hello ladies.
I'm new to this pregnancy thing I'm just over 5 weeks. And I'm very excited but nervous due to over a year ago myself and my husband had an ectopic:(
This time round does feel different it's just when I get the cramps I worry does anyone else feel the same?

At the moment I'm tired all the time, everything foodie makes me feel sick, constantly weeing ,backache ect.
Just need some reassurance about these period like cramps? Xx

GemmaJen · 09/01/2019 16:00

@ChristieEdgecombe one of my few symptoms are period like cramps, a bit like pain from doing too many sit ups or pressure in my abdomen. I hear it's perfectly normal as the uterus expands, try not to worry X

iano · 09/01/2019 17:46

Fab! I'll call the hospital MW unit. I'm sure I can do the direct referral as I've seen posters up at the surgery saying I can refer myself. Thanks all!

happytobemrsg · 09/01/2019 18:02

I've also self-referred because I'm not going to my local hospital

lilpeach · 09/01/2019 18:20

Hi all,

I'm also new here and inspired to write my first post and join the end of august/september club! Got a faint line on 19th Dec and a BFP on Boxing day.

Me and my OH quite surprised but happy with the news, told my sister straight away as I was also a little frightened. My first time at 30.. yikes.

Symptoms have been pretty mild luckily, achey boobs and emotions swinging all over the place. But I think i'm only just 6wks (still don't understand the date thing), so could all change.

One thing I did want to bring up and gain a little advice for, is depression in pregnancy. I have become increasingly secular, no will to do anything (i barely leave my bedroom). Hassling my poor OH about my worries about him leaving etc. Is this a normal thing? I certainly don't want to go on any meds during pregnancy for it... hoping it will pass.

Anyway, back to a lighter subject, anyone have any gender clues or preferences? I'm hoping for a girl, but due to my ridiculously engorged appetite i have a feeling it will be a boy. Still be over the moon with a little boy blue though Smile.

Good luck everyone!

Josico58 · 09/01/2019 18:51

lilpeach I am also 30 and pregnant with my first. I am 5+4 :) I’m trying not to worry about it but I don’t really have many symptoms at all. Maybe they’ll kick in next week. I just have sore boobs and quite tired.

challengeyourreality · 09/01/2019 20:08

Hi @lilpeach, I have some experience of depressive symptoms in pregnancy - from my first pregnancy (I was 25, am now 31). I spoke to my doctor and was referred to a psychologist and it was wonderfully helpful and I'm so grateful I got that help when I did. They recommend to me to treat any depression during pregnancy so it doesn't become PND after birth, for example. It can be triggered by hormones.

lilpeach · 09/01/2019 20:15

I didn't consider that it might contribute to the chances of getting PND so i'm glad you've alerted me to it! I will book a GP visit as soon as I can. Thank you!

challengeyourreality · 09/01/2019 20:31

@lilpeach, I hope you get as much from it as I did.

Side note: is anyone particularly enjoying any foods? I'm especially liking prawns and bananas.

FrancesV83 · 09/01/2019 22:04

@challengeyourreality I’m 6 weeks and really enjoying salt and vinegar or ready salted crisps! It was the same when pregnant with my son so I’m guessing I’m having another boy!

Sydneysider2019 · 09/01/2019 23:33

5 weeks today! I was having strong waves of nausea at work this morning, feeling horrified at the thought of having to run to the bathroom and being sick in there. I was also starting to feel ravenous like I could eat a huge plate of bacon (I don’t normally eat bacon or even like it) so got myself an egg and bacon roll which I just inhaled and it made me feel so much better! Hope this doesn’t become a habit!

JJ94 · 09/01/2019 23:43

Hello Smile

I'm new too! 5 weeks pregnant with our first baby.

I am feeling nauseous at different times during the day. I have also completely lost my appetite (very unlike me!) but i'm doing my best to eat healthily and regularly.
My boobs are killing me and feel as if they have grown loads in the last week or so. I've had to buy a couple of new bras because all mine are now far too small!

Thank you for all the help and advice posted on here Smile

Whisky2014 · 10/01/2019 08:51

Congrats JJ94!
It is crazy how quickly boobs grow isn't it? I'm an F cup usually so i dread to think how big they will grow!

I'm a little worried..I was having cramps, sickness feeling and my boobs were full and swollen and very heavy. Yesterday I noticed I didn't feel sick at all and today it seems like my boobs are deflating and are not as sore.

Didn't realise what a worrying time this is! I have my 2nd scan on Sunday so hopefully we will be able to actually see something this time.

Karigan195 · 10/01/2019 09:05

Is anyone else due at the very beginning of September or end of August? Made the mistake of stepping on the scales today. Trying to eat healthily but seem to have put on 2kg already (although half of me thinks that’s probably mostly boobs). Skirts are feeling tight now too. Yet my diet has got healthier if anything as I’m making a concerted effort to eat ‘good’ foods. Is this normal do you reckon? It’s surely too small to have a 2kg impact already. I’m 6+5 today.

EltzBee · 10/01/2019 10:20

Hi ladies. Hope you're well well. I'm due 31st August, but with being 1st who knows when it'll actually arrive, could well be September!
6+5 today, and having my flu jab today as GP recommended it.
@Karigan195 could it be more the result of Christmas? I've put on a couple of pounds but I know that's from lots of extra treats over the festive period.

Karigan195 · 10/01/2019 10:26

We don’t tend to do the whole chocolates etc thing at christmas. I had a calorie counter and was never over 1500 a day. Could be the slower digestion since getting pregnant I guess 🤷‍♀️

EltzBee · 10/01/2019 10:29

@Karigan195 maybe! Don't worry too much :)

DuggeesWooOOooggle · 10/01/2019 10:43

Bloating can cause pregnancy weight gain, water retention etc. 1500 cals seems very low, karigan, I would struggle to keep my energy levels up eating that little. Even though we are not eating for 2 there are still a lot of demands on our bodies right now.

Karigan195 · 10/01/2019 10:51

I have a thyroid disorder. I’m pretty bloody active but gain weight if I stray above 1500. I’ve switched to normal healthy 3 meals a day and healthy snacks since I found out about being pregnant though.

bananamonkey · 10/01/2019 11:49

Sorry I’ve only dipped in and out a little, looking after an ill toddler (again!).

I’m 8 weeks today 😱 and am totally paranoid it’s twins, I’ve felt crap this time around and am having ligament pain already every time I sneeze/cough. At least my appetite has come back now although I’ve put on a lb this week. Alas my boobs don’t really change in pregnancy so it’s all tummy bloat. I am really enjoying eating apples which seems bizarre, I’ve been low carb for ages so haven’t eaten them in months!

DuggeesWooOOooggle · 10/01/2019 12:48

That sounds tough to manage karigan, I hope pregnancy doesn't mess up your metabolism too much.

sa11zza · 11/01/2019 11:59

2/3 badminton sessions this week done! I definitely tire more easy but I've enjoyed being back! I'll be 6 weeks tomorrow.. hopefully this can continue for a few more weeks!

TwittleBee · 11/01/2019 12:02

oh don't bananamonkey I am also paranoid its twins here too!

sa11zza I hope you manage to keep enjoying it too!

Booked an early scan for 4 weeks time! So just want time to hurry up so I can get to that now

tinatsarina · 11/01/2019 12:23

So I went to the go for my referral to the hospital, got a flu jab while there so it's all go now lol
