Hi! So I got my BFP on Christmas Eve and am just under 5 weeks. It's quite a lonely time keeping quiet until after 12 weeks so I thought I would start a thread for ladies who are roughly the same time along so we can keep each other company and talk about this exciting time!

What are people symptoms? Do you feel pregnant yet?? I feel pretty normal! Maybe a little more tired but otherwise fine.
How are people going to play New Year's Eve? We have a big do on the 31st and a family lunch on the 1st - don't know how I'm going to get away without drinking!

Xx

Anyone exercising just now? I've not done anything for a few weeks but I play badminton and it's back tomorrow night and i play quite competitively in the local leagues and this week I have 2 - 2 hour training sessions and 1 match!? I've read mixed messages about racket sports while pregnant!

Megan2018 · 08/01/2019 18:40

@sa11zza

I’m still riding my horse if that’s exercise? I think if you feel well and it is something you already do then no need to stop. Be different taking up a new thing, but if you are already fit then I’m sure it’s fine.

I’ll ride unless I feel unwell, it hurts or don’t feel safe anymore.

My classes start back this week as we had a break for the festive period. I dance ballet and do an intense ballet barre workout once a week too. I am a bit concerned if it'll be too much for me so I think I will drop my ballet barre for this season and continue my classes but take it easy. There have been some pregnant woman in my class before but pregnancy feels so fragile to me, I'm definitely over-thinking it though

@Sydneysider2019
The whole dating thing is a bit bonkers. Your MW will date you from the day your last period started (despite not being pregnant then).
In the UK your DD will be 40 weeks after the date of your last period. The French count 42 weeks I think and other countries 41...
We're due the same time.

Sydneysider2019 · 08/01/2019 20:56

@iano Smile

@challengeyoureality I’ve been feeling very blah so determined to do exercise. My current ‘routine’ is foam rolling in the morning and hula-hooping in the evening (non-weighted hoop) - I find it soo relaxing.

Jotx · 08/01/2019 22:41

Reluctantly but I’m posting... 4+5 . First post here, first pregnancy.
I’m extatic....
6 tests done... all positive Grin

“Few” questions...

How many tests did you do until you believed?
Any surprises yet?

I’m from Uk... so the only appointment I have and apparently need is 8 week appointment with midwife? Should I be asking for anything else?

I’m overthinking everything... thinking of what books to buy, was looking at nursery furniture Blush ... thinking also the bad stuff (pregnancy problems etc)
crazy I know.... luckily my DP is my sensible/calmer side.... :)

So far no symptoms.... just lack of period....

Hello!

TwittleBee · 09/01/2019 00:04

Welcome Jotx ! Think most of us are from UK. In regards to what you should be doing, I assume you've referred to the MWs now so they can book you up for the 8 week app and dating scan? Only contact you'll need prior that is if you have any bleeding or sharp pain in womb area I believe (just to rule out ectopic or miscarriage). Hopefully all will be good for you!

Anondonkey · 09/01/2019 06:11

Hi Jotx! I did a total of 9 tests over a week- I think I started believing the results on the 4th or 5th. Completely ridiculous I know Blush

I have only bought one thing which is the book What to Epxect When You’re Expecting and I use that and the NHS website for information.

I am the same as you - just a booking in appointment with midwife at 8 weeks although I was able to go to my GP surgery when I found out to pick up some booklets and an information pack which was handy.

GemmaJen · 09/01/2019 06:59

@Jotx I'm still taking tests! I'm probably a little more anxious than need be but it's helping me get from one day to the next, I'm taking temp, heart rate and HPTs. I'm only 4w though, think I'm going to continue for a bit longer. Does anyone else still temp?

Megan2018 · 09/01/2019 07:02

I only did 1 test!! Slightly panicking that it was a mistake, but it was so clear and pretty much instant.
I have bought some cheap tests though and plan to do a weekly one for now, just to check but slightly paranoid that it only showed on a FRER

TwittleBee · 09/01/2019 07:24

Megan I didn't get a positive on cheap tests until I was 20dpo with last pregnancy despite FRERs being blazing positive!

Just took another FRER this morning at 10dpo, clear as day for me! Same colour as the control!

FX for us all!

TwittleBee · 09/01/2019 07:24

(Also spent this morning chucking my guts up whilst getting ready.... urgh)

GemmaJen · 09/01/2019 07:34

@TwittleBee that's some strong symptoms already! 😮

Sydneysider2019 · 09/01/2019 07:38

@twittleBee oh no...I wonder if that’s around the corner for me too. So far, just having waves of nausea throughout the day, especially after meals.

TwittleBee · 09/01/2019 08:59

Gemma wondering if maybe its twins or I am further than 10dpo!

Sydney oh hope it stays as just nausea for you! How far gone are you?

Teddie1 · 09/01/2019 09:57

Nausea (then crippling hunger) and exhaustion are absolutely ruining me right now Sad I'm finding it hard to do anything!
Is there anything o can do about it?
For those that are feeling rubbish and able to exercise - what would you recommend?

And welcome new comers! Star

when does one register with the hospital? I'm not going to bother with GP this time. They never did the referral last time and I had to self refer to the hospital.

Pastaallday · 09/01/2019 10:38

I registered as soon as I found out.
Had a bit of brownish spotting yesterday which freaked me out tbh and also yesterday felt really faint and sick. Also sweating bucketloads for 5 mins. Is this possibly morning sickness? I might get thr spotting checked out just in case. I'll be just over 6 weeks.

Megan2018 · 09/01/2019 10:40

@iano

Seems to depend where you live - I can't register direct with hospital, has to be via GP. I am seeing the GP on Monday for this.

FrancesV83 · 09/01/2019 10:53

@teddie1 I feel your pain! I feel exactly the same. I’m 6 weeks today. My house is a mess as I feel too exhausted to do anything!

I think I’m going to phone the doctors next week, I’ve read somewhere that you need to get an appointment before 10 weeks.

Josico58 · 09/01/2019 11:26

I have made a Midwife appt via my GP, but not registered with the hospital. Should I? I'll be 9 weeks at my appt.

Sydneysider2019 · 09/01/2019 11:44

@TwittleBee I am 5 weeks (edd 12/9) When did morning sickness start for you?

excitednerves · 09/01/2019 11:47

Hi. I got my BFP on Boxing Day, currently 7 weeks. I had sore boobs, abdominal ache etc but now feeling “normal” again. Did anyone else’s symptoms ease off after a while?

I’m very excited about this pregnancy as it will be our first but like many off you, I’m really anxious about anything that could go wrong.

Thanks!

sa11zza · 09/01/2019 12:07

@excitednerves I had slight cramping in my back/tummy when I was 4 weeks and slightly sensitive boobs but nothing since then! I fell asleep after work last night but I think it was more laziness than actually exhausted! Ha ha! My boobs are definitely bigger though! I feel like I am very lucky as long as everything is ok. I have my booking appointment with the midwife on 22nd January I'll be about 7-8 weeks then!

TwittleBee · 09/01/2019 12:16

Sydney I believe I am approx 3+3 (edd 22/09) and sickness kicked in properly last night but hard to know my actual dates as last "period" was actually a miscarriage so dates are bit out of whack and just going from Ovulation Prediction on my app.

welcome excitednerves ! I think it is rather common for symptoms to start to ease and to come and go too
