First for me too. I really admire the women with young kids managing them and their pregnancy, super women is right as mentioned earlier !!

Bunnybaubles · 24/01/2019 14:41

OMG just realised I posted under my other username Ispywithmycynicaleye I use for another forum 😂 Baby brain much!!

@Jummynbean Oh god noooo haha, never ever did I think I'd have 4! Makes me 😲 when I think about it now 😂
Youngest feels like my 1st tho cause of the huge age gap lol.

Mayjane5 · 24/01/2019 23:17

Hello everyone, I had my scan and blood screening last week, had a missed call from the hospital to call them back about results do they usually phone? Worried there is something wrong. I’m in different time zone at the moment so can’t call straight back.

Bunnybaubles · 25/01/2019 00:49

Maybe there was a problem with the blood sample, like it was contaminated somehow or that they lost it, which is very probable. I had that with bloods I had taken recently and they phoned me to appologise and ask if I wouldn't mind going in again to have them repeated.
Different time zone?? Sounds wonderful!! Wish it was me 😁

Mayjane5 · 25/01/2019 02:34

@Bunnybaubles hopefully it’s nothing to worry about like you say I’ll be phoning later on, just concerned as I’m an older mum and chances of problems are higher. We are currently in Australia it’s incredibly hot!

Bunnybaubles · 25/01/2019 02:55

@Mayjane5 Australia!! Aww boody freezing here! Stick some of that heat in a wee jiffy envelope and send it over 😉

I know how you feel worrying about being an older mum, i am too. I'm still waiting for my blood results to come back. Think I've still got another 2 weeks of waiting.

Mayjane5 · 25/01/2019 04:54

@Bunnybaubles I wish I could lucky to miss the colder weather shouldn’t complain that I’m melting 😁 definitely not glowing at all this pregnancy skin is awful. I have 4 hours or so before I can phone the hospital.

Mayjane5 · 25/01/2019 09:50

Managed to phone the hospital, my screening results came back as 1 in 60 for downs need to go in for further testing, she did say my age was a factor anyone else had higher odds?

Trouble2cats · 25/01/2019 15:07

@mayjane5 I appreciate that it probably wasn't the odds you were hoping for but statistically speaking, your child still has much higher chances of being healthy than not. Have you thought about the harmony test?

Porridgeprincess · 25/01/2019 15:47

I am sorry Maryjane, I am not sure what those stats mean to be honest but as Trouble2cats says, your odds are still statistically in favour of being healty. Not a call I would want to receive either though as I would not know what it means

rosyedith · 25/01/2019 18:38

What's been your craving ladies?
Also does anyone have really itchy boobs 🙄 I want to rip them off!!

Loujonesy · 25/01/2019 20:14

@Jummynbean this is number 4. DS are 14, 11 & 11. I'm hoping after twins, 1 should be relatively easy 😁 X

Loujonesy · 25/01/2019 20:18

Our local hospital was really quick with my blood results. Literally less than a week. I had 1-1734. I'm a bit lost with testings now as I had twins last and all the tests are different. @Mayjane5 please bring some warmth back for us all. We need it.

Bunnybaubles · 25/01/2019 20:18

@Mayjane5 I agree with Trouble2cats that it doesn't necessarily mean bad news. If you want more information on what those results mean or just some advice and reassurance you could start a new thread and ask. I read a thread recently where posters were discussing their results and the outcomes etc so it looks like lots of women have similar experiences. I think 1 woman posted her bloods came back 1 in 20 and she had a perfectly healthy baby 😊

@rosyedith not really had any cravings, but I've totally gone off salted peanuts. I love them but since falling pregnant the mere sight of them makes me 🤢 I'd love a weird craving tho, craved Rennies indigestion tablets with DD1 lol.

Loujonesy · 25/01/2019 20:19

When I had my scan they noticed an ovarian cyst. Has anyone else's scans picked up on this? They didn't seem concerned but I feel I should be

cravingmilkshake · 25/01/2019 20:31

@Loujonesy no but my 12 week picked up a large fibroid. I googled it and it said hysterectomy as a solution! Which scared me!

They have written in my notes to keep an eye on it on the 20 week scan!

Loujonesy · 25/01/2019 21:41

@cravingmilkshake think I will tell
Midwife of my concern at my 16 week checkup. Hopefully you won't have to have that. Fingers crossed for you xx

Mayjane5 · 26/01/2019 02:21

Thank you ladies, I guess it’s just a bit of a shock how the odds change so much when you get older. I’ve asked hospital to send me the results in detail, what’s the harmony test?

Squeakybubbles26 · 26/01/2019 07:21

@Loujonesy ovarian cysts can be very common, I've had one when I wasn't pregnant and was getting pains so went for tests which showed said cyst and they monitored it. Cysts can grow and change throughout the monthly cycle due to hormones. So maybe they are double checking it at the 20 week scan to see if it's grown etc. It doesn't mean it's anything serious. Did they say how big it was? Try not to worry.

rosyedith · 26/01/2019 08:38

Did anyone else stop taking folic acid at 12 weeks ?

Squeakybubbles26 · 26/01/2019 09:34

@rosyedith I stopped taking folic acid after my 12 week scan but continue to take vitamin D.

Bunnybaubles · 26/01/2019 12:15

@rosyedith I've been told to take my vitamins including folic acid throughout.

Loujonesy · 26/01/2019 15:44

@Squeakybubbles26 they said 2cm. They put it in my notes so yes I agree prob keep eye on next scan.

@rosyedith I stopped quite early on as they were making my sicker ( HG was bad enough ) and they haven't advised me of any problems

Squeakybubbles26 · 26/01/2019 17:57

@Loujonesy If I remember correctly I'm sure it's measured up til 5cm before they worry, however this was a few years back. Some people don't even know they have them so as it obviously wasn't causing you any problems before that's a good sign!

Maybe I should continue to take the folic acid, I still need to have a blood test for further screening at 16 weeks as baby wouldn't move in a more desired position for them to check it's neck. Would continuing it help my chances or not?

Jummynbean · 26/01/2019 23:51

With regard to folic acid, my pregnancy is high risk due to spina bifida. I'm on a really high dose of folic acid as well as pregnacare. I'll be taking both throughout the pregnancy as the body gets rid of excess X totally up to you but ask midwife first xxxx
