I'm totally gutted, just got diagnosed with gestational diabetes! Stupid hormones!!

@Porridgeprincess haha I totally agree!! He's demanded that he is in charge of all appointments / letters etc since this was the 2nd time I've done that 😁

GabbyGal · 17/01/2019 14:29

Sorry to hear that @Bunnybaubles, will you need meds or anything or can it be managed through diet? Midwife said I’d be tested for it as my BMI is a bit high but not until 28 weeks? Thought that seemed a bit long to wait.

Helsvamp · 17/01/2019 14:30

Mines due date is 11th July baby number 4 and not suck in this time even after scan

MissKatyKat · 17/01/2019 14:39

Had my scan this morning and all is well, only one baby thank goodness :) Already in love

Porridgeprincess · 17/01/2019 15:18

Aw no bunnybaubles but at least you know now and can treat yourself. My friend had it and she had the most amazing figure afterwards as she was eating so healthily !!

I don't feel very connected to my baby yet? I presume this will come as I grow and see more physical proof of pregnancy?

Bunnybaubles · 17/01/2019 15:25

Thanks, the hugs are muchly muchly appreciated as I sit here trying to work out
how to use my new virtual monitor 🤔
I had GD in my last pregnancy and ended up on metformin and insulin injections. It's the constant testing that's so awful!!
Got tested for diabetes just before falling pregnant again which was negative so totally gutted it's a positive now!
Don't know what's worse, having to give up my chocolate or having to be induced early again ☹

@GabbyGal 28 weeks is the normal time to be tested cause it usually only manifests towards the end of pregnancy, unless you are very unlucky like me 😁
I have familialhypercholesterolemia so regularly get my lipids monitored at hospital. I only got tested for GD early cause I had a few glucose spikes in the past during my lipid tests, even tho I'm not diabetic. I was just really unlucky to test positive for GD so early.

@MissKatyKat that is a gorgeous picture, look at the wee hand and fingers awwww. I bet you were relieved they only found 1 baby 😅

Porridgeprincess · 17/01/2019 15:36

I won't lie I would be gutted to not be able to have chocolate now.

GabbyGal · 17/01/2019 15:52

Good to know @Bunnybaubles, thanks. Sorry you’ve been so unlucky but it’s better to know so you can keep an eye on it.

@MissKatyKat that pic is gorgeous! 😍

Georgeofthejungle · 17/01/2019 16:39

Hello guys! Not been on for a while! We got our scan yesterday and it put us 3 days earlier than expected so we are now due 26th of July!

The sonographer said I have a front facing placenta. She said it’s not anything to worry about but that I won’t feel anything until 24 weeks! Shock It was so nice to see our little babe though! The detail on the screen was amazing. I was really impressed. We got a clear shot of bum with legs sticking out and there was distinctly nothing else sticking out... a quick google tells me it’s either a girl or too early to tell! 😂

I was in At the Aldi baby event and it’s really confirmed I want to get the gender scan this time. Would just love to buy some pretty pink things 🥰

Not so good about the diabetes @bunnybaubles do you have to take medication for it?

Squeakybubbles26 · 17/01/2019 19:50

@Georgeofthejungle with my first pregnancy I also had a front facing placenta, the sad and disadvantage thing is you don't feel the movements as strong, even though they are there. (Don't get me wrong you do feel them but as you get bigger it's like your more focussing on them)! I remembered getting the bubble affect at about 17 weeks and roughly 24-26 weeks felt my first kick! However the hiccups are the cutest!!!

Georgeofthejungle · 18/01/2019 16:34

Thanks squeakybubbles26! A friend of mine had the same and she had to go to hospital for the last couple weeks of her pregnancy because she could literally feel nothing. I remember the paranoia with my last one about movements and the placenta was in a better place then! Eek. Hope this doesn’t cause worry Confused

MissKatyKat · 18/01/2019 18:20

Thank you everybody :)
@Bunnybaubles yes we were VERY relieved, I'd almost convinced myself it would be twins! How are you feeling? xx

Trouble2cats · 19/01/2019 08:12

Hello! May I join? Due 21st, had ny scan yesterday and the put me forward by a good few days!

GabbyGal · 19/01/2019 08:34

Hi @Trouble2cats, welcome and congratulations Smile

Trouble2cats · 19/01/2019 10:20

Thanks! I will need just a bit of time to catch up!

Squeakybubbles26 · 19/01/2019 10:46

I feel like I'm one of the only ones still waiting for a scan! Hurry up Tuesday I want to relax! However congratulations all on your great scan news!!xx

GabbyGal · 19/01/2019 10:48

Nearly there @Squeakybubbles26 and it’s so worth the wait!

Bunnybaubles · 20/01/2019 22:28

@Georgeofthejungle I have an obstetric appointment at hospital tomorrow to see the hypertension and diabetic obstetrician together. I think judging by my glucose results they'll start me on an evening dose of metformin.

MissKatyKat I'm feeling frustrated I can't snack like I was haha but I suppose it's a good thing!

@MissKatyKat I'm feeling pretty pants right now cause I can't snack how I used to lol I'm sure it's for the best. Just need to remind myself the more carbs I eat, the bigger the baby 🙈😳

Anyone been suffering nosebleeds? I'm getting them almost daily!!

Georgeofthejungle · 20/01/2019 22:48

Good lunch bunnybaubles! They will look after you and baby!

I got a pair of maternity jeans from Lidl yesterday. Nice colour, but long in the leg, good quality and only £7.99. But spent all day pulling them up. Think I might have been better with the size down x

Georgeofthejungle · 20/01/2019 22:49

Good luck @bunnybaubles 😂 but hope you enjoyed lunch too 🤣 x

Georgeofthejungle · 20/01/2019 22:52

@squeekybubbles - what’s the bubble effect? 🤔 I cant wait to feel this little babe moving around. Hope I still can! x

Bunnybaubles · 20/01/2019 23:24

@Georgeofthejungle with chocolate off the table I'm not holding out too much hope for enjoying lunch 😂 But thanks for the good luck wishes tho 😉 I'm hoping I go in there to be told it's all a silly mix up and I can go back to being the pie I enjoy being so much 😁😂

Delilah7 · 21/01/2019 15:28

I'm so sorry I'm not very involved in this thread anymore 😔 this pregnancy has changed me so much.
I'm on the tough meds and I'm exhausted all the time. I'm only 15 weeks 3 days, yet I just don't even wanna work anymore, and that's because of how I feel. I'm so tired and I have ridiculous migraines. Stuck in a rut. If I change my hours my pay and obviously maternity pay changes yet I'm just so fed up. OH doesn't completely understand now I'm not throwing up every day! I just needed to vent I'm sorry guys. X

Porridgeprincess · 21/01/2019 15:57

Delilah, sounds like you are very down. Have you spoken with someone about this There was a large pamphlet in my hospital pack about ante-natal depression . It sounds very tough for you now.

Delilah7 · 21/01/2019 17:26

@Porridgeprincess I'd never even considered being depressed.... I'm just struggling. My OH doesn't get it, don't get me wrong he's been super supportive when I've been awful. But if I'm not awful he doesn't get why I feel how I do. He's told me to grow up and power through... :/
