@mayjane5 where are you off too on your flight? Hopefully if it's not too long it could be worth the sickness ( sorry if that's insensitive, I have no idea what your going through) I would hate to think of you missing out on a wonderful trip too X

MrsMidge0505 · 05/01/2019 06:51

Congrats on the scans news. This is a big time for us 12 weekers and getting the scans done!

I'm up early as me and dog needed a tinkle. He also flipped his water bowl covering the whole kitchen at 0530hrs! *eyeroll

Anyway.... nausea is the worst, I found not letting myself get hungry worked the best. As soon as I was getting empty I felt awful and had tummy acid. Even DH noticed I went pale as a ghost! Almond nuts, pumpkins seeds and bananas are perfect easy carry snacks.

Happy Saturday all xx

Georgeofthejungle · 05/01/2019 07:20

Last night was the first night I haven’t gotten up to pee in a don’t know how long. It was amazing. I did wake up think about it and go back to sleep but still I few so much better for ‘almost’ a whole nights sleep! Woohoo.

Should add I’m still knackered 😂 Working this morning, but only for a couple hours. Then DS has a 4th birthday party which he’s very excited about. Hopefully he’ll burn off some steam and we are in for a peaceful evening 😁 x

Squeakybubbles26 · 05/01/2019 07:34

Congratulations all on your lovely scan news! Finally received the letter in the post for my scan but still seems so far away! Got to wait until the 22nd uh 😭 I'll be 12+6 then!
Thankfully my sickness has settled down, after 2 weeks of it! I need to reassure myself this is normal? My symptoms seems a lot different from my first and I know no 2 pregnancies are the same but I'm such a worrier anyway this isn't helping!
@MrsMidge0505 I agree with the nausea and getting hungry I felt fine yesterday and by tea time started to feel sick again, but I was hungry yet the days previous I was constantly snacking so didn't feel this!
The 22nd can't come soon enough!

GabbyGal · 05/01/2019 10:51

The nausea is the worst! I’m 11 weeks today, really hoping it will settle down in a couple of weeks.

@Georgeofthejungle I only got up once last night, can’t believe it. Night before I was up 4 times! Feel much more rested today.

Congratulations on all the scans ladies. Mine is on the 15th, I’m getting so impatient!

Winona1 · 05/01/2019 17:15

How is everyone? Felt so sick this afternoon, fed up of it now!! Having some niggly pains and severely bloated!!!!! Roll on 2nd trimester x

Amelia910 · 05/01/2019 17:31

First pregnancy here! Had my scan Thursday. I’m 12+5 and still no sign of the horrendous sickness that I’ve had since week 5 going :’(
My due date has been changed to 15th of July, midwife previously had me as the 22nd. Glad I rang and argued for an earlier scan as original date was end of Jan and I would have been 15 weeks with these new dates!

Jummynbean · 05/01/2019 17:35

I had to do the same @amelia910, my original date was end of July, however since then we paid for an early reassurance scan that put me 2 weeks ahead of where I thought I was! And the scan date they gave me would have put me at 17 weeks! Went for my 12 week yesterday and my new due date is the 17th July. It's nice that we don't have to wait as long :)

Georgeofthejungle · 05/01/2019 17:52

Hi @winona1 luckily for me the nausea hasn’t been so bad as it was for me during my first pregnancy so I kinda feel like I’m getting off lightly this time. But one thing I am struggling with is the fatigue! I am just so knackered! One minute I’m on top of the world, feeling fab. The next I feel like a zombie! Also severely bloated. My tummy is gigantic and I’ve gone up 2 dress sizes in the past 3 months 🤦🏻‍♀️ Feeling like a big chubster most of the time.

My scan is the 16th so will be 13+1. Bit of a pain but at least they should get a nice clear pic of baby.

Anyone thinking about a gender scan? I was dead against it before but now I’m thinking it might be fun. We didn’t do it first time round? x

Jummynbean · 05/01/2019 18:08

@Georgeofthejungle, I am still struggling with tiredness and bloating too! I don't think I'll pay for an early gender scan, I'll only pay if for any reason they can't tell me at my 20 week scan. Originally I didn't want to find out until it was born, but my partner wants to know and I think it will help with the bonding. I think having the baby will be exciting enough as it is, and now we get to have a little mid- pregnancy celebration too! Feels like such a long wait to 20 weeks!

Winona1 · 05/01/2019 18:32

@Georgeofthejungle I feel huge and sick of trying to hide my bloated tummy!! I haven't bought anything baby related yet so after 12 wk scan if everything goes well, il be investing in some maternity clothes! Anyone know of any good websites or shops that do maternity clothes? 😃

Georgeofthejungle · 05/01/2019 19:07

@jummynbean are you in England? NHS in Scotland don’t tell you gender at all and they have signs up saying not to ask! So the only option for us would be to pay for it privately. I think the earliest they do it is 16 weeks and it’s around £40. I’m pretty convinced this one is a girl but my husbands family do have a history of boys!

@winona1 someone up thread recommended next for maternity wear previously. I’ve had some from new look but to be honest didn’t find the jeans all that great constantly falling down and legs were so wide they looked like straight legs instead of the skinnies they were supposed to be! I think it’s quite hard to get maternity wear in store - mostly everywhere is online only. I’m living in leggings just now! I’m quite happy to think as we get closer to full term it will be warmer so we will be able to rock the maxi dresses x

Squeakybubbles26 · 05/01/2019 19:27

@Winona1 I love my jeans from next! I got a couple from Mothercare last time but they weren't exactly flattering! Tops I've got from Asda and no joke the quality was perfect - I think I've got some linen trousers from there too! A few tops I got from new look as well. It's annoying as like @Georgeofthejungle said most of it is online! However Asda was true to size and next too... Mothercare I had to buy smaller and new look I can't remember lol x

Jummynbean · 05/01/2019 20:09

@Georgeofthejungle I'm totally planning on dresses and tights all the way! They seem fairly cheap and flexible. If I do go for jeans, I'll be going next as I have heard many good things.

It's a shame you can't find out the gender, I kind of understand in a way, but it's a bit of a dampener. I am assuming they don't tell you because it's not important medically?

MrsMidge0505 · 05/01/2019 21:51

We are gonna have a surprise re gender, although got some family already pushing to know to make it easy to buy stuff. That's lovely but at the same time - jog on!!

Maternity wear - I'm gonna order some bits to try on and prob send back, then scour Ebay, tonnes of bundles of things on their. But I reckon you can't got wrong with a black legging, loose or fitted long top and then dress us or down with shirts and cardis or boyfriend style blazers.

MrsMidge0505 · 05/01/2019 21:53

On a side note - is anyone exercising as they did before, or at least kept it up but at a modified level?

Georgeofthejungle · 05/01/2019 22:34

@jummynbean yeah I think so. That and in case there are any mistakes I guess. But I’ve a better idea of what to look for this time round so my eyes will be searching!
@mrsmidge0505 my exercise consists of trying to keep an old farmhouse clean and tidy and running around after a toddler so in that respect, Yep! Still going strong 😂

Bunnybaubles · 06/01/2019 01:13

Well, cat is out of the bag!!

DP accidently blurted out that I couldn't join in the virtual reality experience we got my son for his 20th birthday cause it's not advisable when pregnant.

My mum knew I was pregnant - my SIL did not. Didn't want anyone knowing till after March. Me and mum looked open mouthed at DP, SIL looked open mouthed at me and DP just looked mortified. Oh well 😂

@Winona1 I am also so bloated i look wayyy bigger than I should for how far on I am!

I am still feeling nausious on/ off throughout the day. Sometimes eating helps, sometimes it brings it on.
I cannot wait for the 'glowing' stage in the second trimester to start tho 😂

@Georgeofthejungle that'scary they don't tell you the gender in NHS ospitals in England, they do in scotland. I was told I was having a girl at my last 20 wk scan, although everyone got a very very good look so was very obvious 😂 But the sonographer asked if we wanted to know before she checked.

Bunnybaubles · 06/01/2019 01:14

*crazy - not scary, bloody auto correct 😂

GabbyGal · 06/01/2019 10:23

@Winona1 If you’re looking for jeans a friend who just had her second baby recommended H&M, they do over the bump jeans. I’ve seen them recommended on other MN threads too. She also got a dress for a wedding on ASOS, it was lovely in photos.

Winona1 · 06/01/2019 11:15

Thanks ladies! I have a topshop voucher so might see if i can get any decent ones from their website!! Sick again early hours this morning... when does it end 😂😂

Mayjane5 · 06/01/2019 19:56

@Jummynbean I know what you mean it’s a 24 hr flight that I can’t cancel just anxious if I get sick getting to the toilet intone if there’s a que, although I feel better today I think I will just eat small and light

Georgeofthejungle · 07/01/2019 08:26

@bunnybaubles - I am in Scotland! I thought it was all over they don’t tell you but maybe it’s just our local hospital! Wonder why that is then 🤔

Georgeofthejungle · 07/01/2019 08:36

Just been doing some reading - apparently it’s about time constraints, margin of error and some people saying could be selective abortion! x

Bunnybaubles · 07/01/2019 11:32

@Georgeofthejungle That is strange isn't it! I had my scans at Royal Infirmary Edinburgh, in their new (but much much worse) maternity unit. I had my last 20 week scan with DD in April 2018 and was asked if we wanted to know, and she confirmed it was a girl.
My friend was told she was having a boy in September and my SIL was told she was having a boy in November, same hospital. I hope they haven't stopped come my 20 week scan, that would be just my luck 😂
