Hi all

So not the news I was hoping for but also in limbo on what's going on.

The doctors essentially couldn't find the embryo on the internal scan. They looked for ectopic too and also couldn't find any sign (although not ruled out).

They've essentially said it could be one of three things
-too soon to see on a scan. This would mean my dates were way off but cb digital on 22nd said 1-2 weeks so should be able to see surely?
-I've had a miscarriage but I should have had heavy bleeding with this (I haven't, just small dots of brown blood on pantyliner
-ectopic pregnancy. Least likely but obviously possible.

So I've had a blood text and then repeat one on Friday to see if hormone levels are doubling and that should then give an answer. I've got to ring Saturday for results.

I'll be honest, I'm so deflated and upset. This was our first time TTC and we'd got over excited and planned pre Xmas dinner with both parents to tell them!

Trying to keep positive but feel like it might be lost...

GabbyGal · 05/12/2018 11:27

Oh @AstroKate I’m so sorry you must be so worried. Hopefully your dates are just off, I’ve seen posts on here from women who were off by a couple of weeks, and if you’re under 7 weeks it may be too early too see anything, I was warned of that when I booked my early scan so I booked it for when I think I’ll be 9+6 because I think my dates might be off so I was afraid to book it any earlier than that. Crossing all my fingers for you xxxx

HayleyHaystack · 05/12/2018 11:33

I’m so sorry @astrokate - I was in a similar limbo position in April after an early scan where they couldn’t tell if the heartbeat was on its way out or had just developed. Also measured too small and they had me at 2 weeks earlier than my dates. The wait was agonising and sadly it didn’t end well for me. It was also first pregnancy and it’s totally natural to get ahead of yourself as it’s a hugely exciting time. When you get an inconclusive result at a scan it’s so deflating I remember it really well. Try to be kind to yourself for next few days, positivity is good but I actually found it easier to have a ‘this decision is out of my hands, nature will decide and no amount of thinking will do anything to change the outcome’.
I’ve had his attitude with my pregnancy now and it’s kept me way more balanced than I was first time around. I’m keeping fingers crossed for you that on Saturday you get the good news and whatever happens - you’ve got lots of support here. X

Delilah7 · 05/12/2018 11:51

@AstroKate that's horrible being in limbo. Fingers crossed it's just the dates. Thinking of you xxxx

Georgeofthejungle · 05/12/2018 12:09

@astrokate

My MW said that it’s really hard to see anything before 6 weeks and even harder if you carry a bit of weight (like me) around your tummy! Even when I was further on before my scans were booked in a bit further ahead to combat my extra ‘padding’.

I’m not huge, just carry weight on my tummy so makes things difficult to see esp. in the early days. Could this be contributing?

100% you would have KNOWN if you had a miscarriage and it would be a whole heap easier to see an ectopic. My vote is just a bit too small. Try not to stress. As PP said, this really is out of your hands. Your body knows what it’s doing so just gotta trust it. Easier said I know. Flowers xx

AstroKate · 05/12/2018 12:34

Thank you all so much for your support on this thread-honestly it's been a real life comfort to me!

I've just redone loaded my Ovia Fertility App and I had positive ovulation tests 5th-7th November so potentially going on LMP has dated it further on than I am.

@Georgeofthejungle I also carry my weight around my tummy and would consider myself larger than average so perhaps also contributing. If it wasn't for this pesky bleeding I wouldn't be so worried. But calling it 'bleeding' also makes it sound so much worse than it is...just slight brownish when I wipe.

Guess whatever happens happens and I won't know anything til the weekend. Not sure how I'll be able to concentrate on work until then!

DH felt awful he couldn't come this morning so has cancelled his afternoon to come home for a cuddle which I defo could do with! And the dog seemed to know something was up as jumped on my lap for a huge cuddle too...

AstroKate · 05/12/2018 12:35

@HayleyHaystack So sorry you went through that but great news things are progressing nicely now! Hoping mine doesn't end the same but am quietly preparing for the worst as I can't find many positive stories of PUL scans

mrsof20118 · 05/12/2018 12:43

Fingers crossed all will be ok for you @AstroKate

MakeAWhish · 05/12/2018 13:14

I hope everything works out for you @AstroKate. I think it may just be too early to see anything. Keep the faith. X

AstroKate · 05/12/2018 21:33

I know I shouldn't but poas this evening. Cb digital says 2-3 weeks. 24th it said 1-2 weeks. Clutching at the hope that ovulation/implantation was later than I thought... but also concerned it should be 3+ weeks by now.

God it's going to be hard to wait until Saturday for an indication of what's happening.
Sorry to hijack this thread-can't seem to turn my brain off at the moment! 🤯

mrsof20118 · 06/12/2018 07:10

@AstroKate there's still hope. To get the most accurate weeks indicator they recommend using first morning urine. I repeated them in previous pregnancy and I never got past 1-2 even before I started bleeding for early mc. How many weeks are you now? Xx

mumofone25 · 06/12/2018 12:58

Ahh @AstroKate I hope you are holding up ok. Can’t imagine what you are going through. Thinking of you. Hoping for a positive outcome for you x

Georgeofthejungle · 06/12/2018 23:24

@Astrokate good there was an increase! Any other symptoms. I bet everything will be fine. These little babes are a worry befor they are even born!

I had my booking in apt at the MW today. She is nice if a little scatty! I had hoped for our last one who was amazing but she’s been promoted (great for her and not surprising!). The MW was telling me about a new MW led unit that has opened by me that we will have the option of going to which would be great as it’s only 30 mins from my house instead of the 1 hour to the hospital (not fun in labour). The only thing is they won’t have to big guns pain killers there. Is it just G&A you get in the MW unit? I’m glad I’ve got a while to make up my mind anyways. My family are all for this new place as it’s closer to them etc. But I’m like HEY! I’m the one enduring the pain thank you, I’ll be the decision maker!

I’ve got indegestion tonight which is quite sore. I’ve slumped over in a chair at the panto all night, don’t think it’s done me any favours after a big dinner at the in-laws x

KinCat · 07/12/2018 01:45

Hope everything works out ok AstroKate you could definitely have ovulated later than you think (unless you tracked your temp and know exactly when you ovulated?)

I've still got a few brown spots when I wipe (not every time - maybe once a day). I'm taking comfort from the fact that I read it's quite common to have spotting around the time your period should be due and my period would have been due on Sunday. Hoping it's just that! I don't see the point in bringing my scan forward as not sure there's much that can be done at this stage if things have gone wrong.

Flyfisherlady · 07/12/2018 15:59

Fingers crossed for you @astrokate. Told boss today even though I’m only seven weeks. Basically as I was the biggest caffeine addict it was silly to try and keep things a secret!

AstroKate · 07/12/2018 16:23

Hi all

Not the update I wanted to give...massive cramping and heavy bleeding last night. Hospital have just rung and confirmed my hormone levels have halved since Wednesday so that's pretty concrete.

I passed what looked like a small empty sack this morning and had a lot of pain with it so I knew what was coming with the phone call

I wish all of you lovely ladies such love and luck with your journeys and really hope to be seeing you on the pregnancy boards in the not too distant future...

X

vixy1988 · 07/12/2018 16:29

@AstroKate I am really sorry to hear this.

I hope you are ok and manage to get some rest and have some "you" time.

Xx

MakeAWhish · 07/12/2018 17:11

I'm so sorry, @AstroKate. Sending you lots of love 💗
