For the past 4 weeks I’ve been having regular Braxton Hicks some 6 minutes apart...this is baby no3 but my eldest are 10 and 8 so it’s been a while since my last baby.

Last night I was having windy type pains in my tummy and tightenings. I’ve lost my mucus plug and at my last check up 2cm dilated but able to stretch to 4cm...I’m having contractions regularly today but not very painful! I know baby will be here any minute but it’s so frustrating not knowing how long I’m going to feel like this 😩 so excited to meet my baby girl!
I’m currently eating a whole pineapple bouncing on my ball 😂😂😂 anyone else bored with the wait?? Xxxx

So how do you know when to take tightenings more seriously?
I usually get the this time of evening, but they are pretty regular - about every 5-6 minutes and about 40-60 seconds.

Getting a little stronger, but not too painful.

NakedMum33and3rd · 27/09/2018 20:31

I've been having contractions every 8 minutes since about 6pm. I keep on expecting them to go away but they are not stopping.
DH wants to set up the pool but I won't let him as I can't believe it might actually be happening.

Foodylicious · 27/09/2018 20:39

Ooh naked get it set up!!!

Typically mine has eased off a bit now I've got up and moved (and had my 3rd poo of the day Blush )

twobambinos · 27/09/2018 20:48

I'd be getting it set up naked especially since you had a very fast labour last time.

Oh foodie I'm upset to read your update. I read the first message and thought yay. And now it's stopped.

I must admit to feeling very left out over here. Who would think I would be jealous of not being in Pain. I'm feeling very sorry for myself this evening

MaverickSnoopy · 27/09/2018 20:56

Twobambinos try not to be too disheartened. I can assure you that whatever happens you will have your baby before I do. I will still be pregnant this time next year. Medical marvel I'm telling you!

I've just been doing the spinning babies exercises. Not finding them easy though with sciatica and pgp, so just doing what I can.

I wish a curry would work for me - I always have a vindaloo on my due date. I can only manage it in late pregnancy and weirdly it doesn't taste spicy to me at all.....however, when not pregnant I can't let it touch my lips.

debbiegtj · 27/09/2018 21:01

Yeah foody hand expression would work :) I always hated the pump because it’s so painful 😖 I’ve been to a new secondary school open evening with my eldest and had contractions and hot flushes all the way through!! Trying a bath now to see if they ease or if I need to go to L&D 🤞🤞🤞 xxx

Debbie 🤞🤞🤞🤞

twobambinos · 27/09/2018 21:05

Debbie dont try to ease them!

Maverick pelvic problems are total torture I had spd on my last pregnancy and it is the number one reason theres such an age gap. When are you due?

MaverickSnoopy · 27/09/2018 21:36

I'm due next Saturday but was 10 days and 15 days over in previous pregnancies. They were back to back too and apparently that can lead to being overdue. No one ever spotted it before I actually delivered though, so at least this time I can try to do something about it. It's more 3rd pregnancy with pelvis problems - just makes everything so much harder.

twobambinos · 27/09/2018 22:14

Hopefully you can get baby to turn to a more favourable position. No one mentioned anything to me anytime about back to back and mine were all overdue too. Did you have to be induced or did you have the long slow labour's?

Foodylicious · 28/09/2018 06:13

How is everyone?
I've carried on having tightenings overnight but managed to sleep on and off.
Got up about half hour ago and some of plug has gone. Contractions stronger and clustered at a coupe of minutes apart for a bit but seem to settling down a bit again.

MaverickSnoopy · 28/09/2018 06:59

Foodylicious, I have a feeling today is your day!

Twobambinos, yes! First labour was 25 hours! Contractions were all in my back. The pain was constant with some bits worse than others but it was VERY hard to notice any gaps and I didn't feel like I had any respite at all. It was horrific. I remember with my second feeling constipated the whole day before, a really strong urge to poo and I couldn't and it was SO painful. This is what I feel like at the moment. Anyway, midwives just kept telling me I wasn't and that I was all clear. Labour was only 4 hours but I was 15 days over and had to be induced.

I was looking on the spinning babies site at the information about babies in the posterior position and I had nearly everything that's listed there during labour. Worth having a look. Like you no one told me my previous two were back to back.

I'm currently sat in bed in total pain feeling constipated but every time I go to the loo the urge just goes (because I've changed position). It's exactly like how I was with my second, but back then I just thought I was constipated and now I've realised that baby is back to back and is resting on a place in my spine that causes this pain. At least I know what it is I guess and today will be another day of trying to get her to move.

debbiegtj · 28/09/2018 07:13

Ahhh Maverick that sounds so awful :( I really do feel for you!! 😩

Foody do you feel like this is it?! 😱😊 my contractions stopped about 3am....again! I’d been having them all day just not painful ones! My tummy feels so sore this morning! At the MW at 4pm, will see if I’ve dilated any further which I hope to god I have!! Soooo frustrating!!

How’s everyone else this morning? Naked? Any signs? Xxx

NakedMum33and3rd · 28/09/2018 07:20

No baby here yet.
Been up most of the night but the contractions were not as painful but still enough to keep me awake. I kept thinking I was going to throw up. Going to walk lots today and see if that helps!
Come on babies. Surely one of us has got to give birth soon!

Foodylicious · 28/09/2018 07:23

Hmm. Back to about 12 mins apart and less painful Sad
Have still told OH he needs to stay off today as he doesn't drive and can be get hard to get hold of if he is with people/patients.

Foodylicious · 28/09/2018 07:24

I keep getting cold and shivery too

Foodylicious · 28/09/2018 07:25

Hope things ramp back up for all of us today

twobambinos · 28/09/2018 08:09

I am still here. I have zero symptoms of labour starting and officially overdue. I feel a sense of calm that wasn't there yesterday. I think maybe I was feeling a pressure to perform with the due date looming who knows.

Maverick that sounds awful hopefully this Labour will be more straight forward for you. 15 days is a long time too.

Oh foody hope they ramp up for you soon now that dh is off. Mine isn't far away maybe 15 minutes if it's not school traffic but that's the opposite way to the hospital so I could be there in 30mins if I needed him to collect me. But its a long 30mims if this go really fast.
I'm the opposite to cold and shivery.

Naked and Debbie I was sure there would be some news from you. Gooluck with the walking and the midwife.

I hope someone has their baby today. To spur us all on.

RowenaDedalus · 28/09/2018 09:16

I’ve had three nights now of period pains which end when I get up. This morning my abdomen hurts in a gripey way. It’s funny that I am so scared of labour and yet so desperate for it to get started!

debbiegtj · 28/09/2018 09:38

Same here naked! Up till 3am even though my body was begging for sleep!! Just been to Tesco for 2ltrs of fresh pineapple juice! I’ve had enough of eating pineapples it makes my mouth sore :(

Foody I’ve had a cold for over a week now and a very runny ear...that got my hopes up as you’re meant to get a touch of flu before labour- maybe that’s it for you?

Twobambinos I’m a bit like that today! I’m one day over and feel like “oh well, she will come when she comes now” it’s strange isn’t it! My first two were 40+7 and 40+5 so it’s looking the same for this little miss!! And the amount of people telling me I don’t look 9 months pregnant too....I definitely feel it!!! 😂😂😂

Rowena is this your first baby? When are you due? XxXx

OP posts:
RowenaDedalus · 28/09/2018 09:41

Yes first baby and due on Monday so no idea what to expect. I only know I am tired of being pregnant! I really really don’t want to go too far over...

Foodylicious · 28/09/2018 09:50

I've had a cold and cough last week or two debbie too.
It's a pita.
Had a bit of a dose earlier, got up, more tightenings and had a good vomit. Had another couple tightenings, but about 12 mins apart then nothing for 30 mins... just had another, but tight not painful. Grrr.

Weenurse · 28/09/2018 10:04

Good luck all

debbiegtj · 28/09/2018 10:06

It’s very scary Rowena but I promise once contractions start your only focus is bringing that little life into the world! And once you’ve had your baby you will forget every little bit of pain!! It’s soooo worth it I promise 😊 best thing to do is find something to pass the time at the moment...I’m playing candy crush believe it or not! And keeping on top of my washing! My goal every day is to have an empty laundry basket and that keeps me somewhat busy for a little while :) make some pies or something the standing making pastry will do you good keeping the baby in the right position 😊 it’s hard i know, I’m frustrated myself....we think we got our hopes up too early getting contractions from 37 weeks and it has made it drag over!

Foody that’s what mine are like, whole tummy goes rock hard and I feel the baby being pushed down but they aren’t really painful just uncomfortable. So annoying xxxx

OP posts:
MaverickSnoopy · 28/09/2018 10:06

Rowena that sounds like what I have. Agony to lie down and feels like contractions almost. Baby is back to back. When are you seeing the midwife? Could be worth asking about.

I got cold and shivery with both of mine - in my first labour I was violently shaking and had to be put on a drip and with my second it was after I delivered.
