Hey, I’ve just found out I’m pregnant and that I’ll be due in May. I’ve had 4 miscarriages and have no children so I’m really nervous! It’s still really early but would love to talk to other people due in May. Even though I know it’s still really early and lots of people may not know their due date yet!

Welcome @Mummab3ar! This is my second pregnancy and definitely looking it! Due 11 May.
I've had an early scan, but anxiously awaiting my 12 week one now. I don't think the worry ever really disappears until your baby is here (then it's a whole different type of worry! I would hate to see my google search history after the arrival of my first )

Mummab3ar · 15/10/2018 13:15

@expatlife yes, it's always that anxious feeling before they arrive no matter what. Haha, I wouldn't have liked to have seen mine either I imagine it was crazy lol.

buntingandstarcharts · 15/10/2018 22:36

Aside from the constant worry about the little cutie in there, does anyone have any thoughts of what they imagine the sex to be?! It only occurred to me at the early scan that the little blob was going to be an actual human boy or girl! Now I'm just imagining which I will have! Anyone else? Or am I loopy? Xxxx

expatlife · 16/10/2018 05:31

@buntingandstarcharts I had this for my first and was right! I always imagined having a girl toddler, not the actual baby in my belly being a girl (if that makes sense?! ). We didn't find out until she was born, but it was no surprise to me (my DH was convinced it was a boy)
This time, I keep imagining a boy and we will find out at the 20 week scan, so let's see if I get 100% 😂
Any idea/guess what you're having @buntingandstarcharts

expatlife · 16/10/2018 05:31

Bold fail

frankiefumbles · 16/10/2018 07:16

@Tayel very similar backstory to me. Re cyst I think cysts are actually quite common and likely will just recede in time.

I feel reasonably calm at the moment but I think that's probably just because I've been on holiday and away from the stress of work. Had an emotional blow out last night though thinking about all the work waiting for me on my return!

@Mummab3ar my nipples are deathly sore and tbh the whole boob area. Was disappointed to see my areolas (?) are the size of dinner plates too now. Jeez. It's all style with pregnancy.

@buntingandstarcharts I swear mine is a girl. No reason. And I thought both my mcs were boys, but obviously didn't find out. No idea why. Gut feeling?

Lilbear14 · 16/10/2018 07:20

@frankiefumbles
I am the same, gut feeling girl. I automatically refer to the baby as her or she without thinking. I was like that with my first two but he and him.
We would like a girl to even out the household a bit but obviously we can't control that aslong as baby is happy and healthy we will be happy.

buntingandstarcharts · 16/10/2018 07:47

@expatlife I am leaning towards a boy. I think we will find out at the 20 week scan. We don't have any girls names so maybe that's why I think boy. I'd love either, obvs. Just delighted to be pregnant.

Those who found out for their first babies, did you regret finding out? Is a surprise better? Xxxx

buntingandstarcharts · 16/10/2018 07:51

Oh also, I have no sickness at all which apparently is more likely to be a boy, andddd I was drinking gallons of grapefruit juice when we conceived (to increase cm) and apparently that is more likely to create boy.... who knows though! Is the grapefruit one true? Xxx

CeeCee88 · 16/10/2018 08:16

Hey @buntingandstarcharts

I'm similar, I keep thinking we're having a boy and I genuinely couldn't tell you why. We're not going to find out until the little bean comes out to meet us but it's just a gut feeling. I have no idea why.

Saying this, my wife also told me that I've apparently already started showing, which I find slightly concerning, seeing as I'm only 7+6... She's jokingly said it may be twins. I suppose we'll find out at our first scan next Monday. Hmm

So far I've had no sickness at all, just a little "off" feeling every once in a while. I do have massively sore boobs though and my appetite is off the charts (which may also be why she thinks I'm showing... may just be all the extra food I've been shovelling inside me Grin).

Has anyone else got a scan coming up soon?

expatlife · 16/10/2018 08:45

@CeeCee88 I have a scan on Sunday evening, cannot wait! I was worried I was having twins (due to my size) and I had a scan at 8 weeks. The sonographer laughed when I asked if it was twins - I wasn't joking! 😂😂 Reassuringly, there is only 1.

@buntingandstarcharts I loved not knowing initially, then got impatient towards the end. But although I'm glad that we didn't find out for the first, we will find out this time. Mainly so I can get rid of all my very pink/floral girl clothes if it's a boy. We also have to rely on family bringing over 'essential' items, as it's expensive and more difficult to source, so need to be much more organised this time.

LeslieLR · 16/10/2018 08:51

My gut feeling says boy even though DH and I can't agree on a single boy's name so far! We've got time though :) Funnily enough, we've already agreed on a few girls' names... We also very quickly decided we didn't want to find out the gender early.

I've got my 12 weeks scan booked for next Monday morning. NHS can't take into account my private scan so they're still using my LMP which puts me at 11+4 but I know I'm rather 10+5 right now based on previous scans.

I've had to buy a pair of pregnancy jeans already because the bloating is just insane especially in afternoons / evenings. I'm lucky to work from home so I can stay in comfy clothes all day but looking decent when going out in evenings/weekends was getting difficult. Bought those jeans at H&M and they are the best thing ever!

everythingisnew · 16/10/2018 12:46

I had my booking in appointment today (which also happens to be my birthday! So that was a nice coincidence) and it started to make things feel more real... even though I spent the first part of the morning with my head in the toilet!

I'm still anxious to have a scan, I'm 9 weeks today (by LMP)... how much would you see on a scan at this stage??

Lorrie3 · 16/10/2018 13:06

@everythingisnew I had a scan at 9 weeks last Friday...thoguht it was almost 12 weeks but my dates were off. We saw a heart beat and the shape of a body and small head..no arms or legs but was very re assuring

LeslieLR · 16/10/2018 13:23

@everythingisnew, I had a private scan at 9+4 and we could clearly see the heartbeat beating but also arms moving around. I didn't expect that at all and made me and DH rather teary.
I've attached a scan pic, if you squint, you can see an arm sticking out in the middle.
The little peanut was very active, moving around non stop :)

@LeslieLR ahh that's lovely thanks for sharing Smile

@Lorrie3 i think that's all I'm hoping for at this stage so think I will take the plunge and book a private scan!

Tayel · 16/10/2018 18:48

@leslielr thats lovely! I had a scan at 7+3 and have another booked for 9+3, your pic is nice and clear! Hope you dont mind me asking but was that an internal scan or abdominal? X

Lilbear14 · 16/10/2018 20:11

Having a moment.
Weighed myself this morning 9lb gain! I was only at 4lb gain before the weekend. Can even feel my double chin 😂😳
Constanlty hungry, trying to snack on as much fruit as possible this week but feel so big. What are the chances that the gains will slow down for a bit before it really kicks off? My god....I'm full on having an emotional episode

LeslieLR · 17/10/2018 10:06

@tayel, it was an abdominal scan. I was really surprised at the quality of the images to be honest!

Kbeauty · 17/10/2018 10:17

First time pregnancy, almost 8 weeks and been feeling so up and down! Nausea puts me off all food and have been sick a couple of times. Also brought on my anxiety, I have good days and bad days but feel like I have no one to talk to whose at a similar stage that can reassure me that it will get better! Sad

buntingandstarcharts · 17/10/2018 12:11

@LeslieLR wow what a gorgeous pic ❤️

So grateful to have you girls. Other than tiredness, I have no symptoms and my boobs have even stopped hurting now! Obviously this is making me terrified! Luckily I had the scan at 7 weeks and there was a heartbeat, just so paranoid it could stop beating. Anyone else with no symptoms really?

All these early scans please show us your cute pics xxxx

buntingandstarcharts · 17/10/2018 12:13

@Lilbear14 don't worry about weight gain at this point. You have to do what your body tells you too as long as that's not eating all the choc and crisps then go for it! You're meant to gain half a stone in first trimester anyway. I haven't put on any weight - buttttt I was no stick insect to begin with, I think the more 'curves' you have to begin with, the less weight you should out on overall. So if you're slim, then that much weight gain shouldn't be a problem xxxx

Redken24 · 17/10/2018 15:27

Don't worry about weight gain - just eat what you need to get through the day.
Don't feel guilty over eating crisps if it's the only thing you can stomach xx

everythingisnew · 17/10/2018 20:48

I had a 9 week scan today and saw my little bean, heart beating, and measuring as it should. I think I held my breath for the whole time. It doesn't look like much, but on the screen you could see a leg move and the start of the umbilical cord, and the heart thumping away.

Guys is it too early for maternity trousers? I'm needing bigger trousers but don't want to keep spending money for bigger clothes when I could just wear maty troos
