Hi all, so I've only just found out I'm pregnant! 3.5 weeks so still early on but looking for others in the same stages as me. Marginally terrified, apprehensive and anxious but majorly excited for my journey with little bean!

@Buttons28 I am also struggling with bloating and trapped wind. The only things I can suggest are peppermint tea and windeze (they are safe during pregnancy). Hope it passes soon for you!

beaa2712 · 22/09/2018 10:38

I've weighed myself this morning and I've lost 2lbs:/ I'm really concerned because after my last mmc all I can think is that something is going to happen again. I'm 10 weeks but extremely nervous that surely I should be putting weight on not losing it:(

SheRaTheAllPowerful · 22/09/2018 12:03

I’ve lost weight too, I wouldn’t worry, the baby takes everything they need, I normally love a glass of wine or two and lots of snacks so my calories are way down on what I’d normally be consuming.
I’ve taken to eating cream teas for breakfast, stops me feeling sick and at least it’s a decent amount of calories.

I have a question about the scans. I have my 12 week scan in a couple of weeks, and on the letter it says to make sure to tell the sonographer in advance if you want to find out the sex. Would this be the case at 12 weeks?

I was under the impression they couldn't tell you this until the 20 week scan, and 12 weeks would be too early. I'm keen to find out but at the same time don't want to look silly asking if they tell me it's too early.

SheRaTheAllPowerful · 22/09/2018 14:48

They can’t tell at that point with 100% certainty. It’s worth asking though, if they have a good view of genitals and experienced sonographer. They can tell from specialist blood tests though if you have a Harmony/panorama test.
You should definitely know at the 20 week scan.
My last pregnancy was identical twins so I was scanned every two weeks, at 16 weeks the doctor said she thought boys, at 20 weeks they were too close together to see and we finally found out at 22 weeks that it was girls.

Unicorn234 · 23/09/2018 09:56

Got my 12 week scan on Friday feeling very excited and nervous about it.
I know this may sound strange to some but anyone who hasn't had a scan yet have a fear that when you go to your first 12 week scan that there's going to be nothing there, like the whole thing has just been in my head 🙈 kinda feeling like that aswell lol

Blgb · 23/09/2018 11:22

@unicorn234 I was exactly the same so had a private scan at 8+2 and everything was fine then so hoping it will be when I finally get my 12 week scan, which is 11/10 but il be 13+1 by then as they couldn’t fit me in until then! I’m sure everything will be fine for you!

Buttons28 · 23/09/2018 11:50

@Unicorn234 I'm so feeling the same as you! I can't wait for the scan to have everything confirmed that it's actually real! Friday isn't that far away for you 🙂

MigMog · 23/09/2018 17:10

@Unicorn234 I know what you mean. At the mo, apart from feeling rubbish, is there anything there. I can't wait to hear and see it to make it all real. Hit 11weeks today, still got no scan date through.

I've spent all this time wishing for 12 weeks for the scan so I can tell people. In reality is probably going to be more towards 14 week at this rate.

How long did you get your date through before the scan?

Unicorn234 · 23/09/2018 19:53

@Blgb @buttons28 @MigMog thank you 😊 I'm glad I'm not the only one feeling like this 🤞 I'm still getting symptoms so I'm sure there is a baby in there lol.
@MigMog I had my midwife appointment on the 4th September and then received my letter for my scan not that long after. It's dated the 7th September on the letter but can't remember the day I had it through the post lol. I also asked if I could have my scan on the Friday 28th as i was on holiday the following week and would like to know everything is okay before I go so they either listened to me or I got lucky as my scan is on Friday 28th 😁😁

CrystalBlaze · 24/09/2018 08:13

Morning, how is everyone? I have my midwife appointment this morning. Quite nervous!

dellabrew · 24/09/2018 10:20

12 +1 weeks now, really hoping that soon I will start to feel lots better :) everyone keeps telling me it gets better after 12 weeks...! Got the official 12 week scan tomorrow ...cant wait! Hoping that bubba has done some rapid growing, at the 10 week scan the lady said it was measuring 6 days smaller than my date ....hopefully it has done some catching up :)

TheMagicTorch · 24/09/2018 10:20

I had a private scan at 7 weeks and saw a lovely heartbeat and healthy bean but I'm still worried for my 12 week scan in case something has gone wrong since then 😣
Mine is Tues 9th Oct. I had my booking in Tuesday 11th and got my scan date through in a letter about a week later (but my friends Mum works in Ante Natal and rang me with the date on the Friday after my booking in)

@CrystalBlaze Good luck for your midwife, I was nervous before mine but it was fine, lots of questions about medical history etc, mine asked where I'd like to give birth. They took my blood pressure, carbon monoxide (I think) reading, pee sample, bloods and BMI.
My midwife was lovelyx

CrystalBlaze · 24/09/2018 11:45

Disaster of a morning. Turns out they had booked my appointment at a centre, not the hospital but nobody told me. Now they can't see me at all until the day before my 12 week scan.

I said that meant I wouldn't have seen a midwife at all and would that be okay. The response was "it'll have to be".

Really annoyed and pretty upset. They also sent my scan letter to my old address. Basically everything has been messed up Sad

SheRaTheAllPowerful · 24/09/2018 12:06

Sorry to hear that Crystal can they not put you on a wait list and call if any appointments come up?

5tarlight · 24/09/2018 12:47

Hi ladies, I am on the April 2019 antenatal thread, is there a reason we have this thread as well? I see some familiar names from there, but not others! So confused now, where am I meant to be!?! Confused Grin Confused Blush 😂

purplestar9 · 24/09/2018 13:19

@Unicorn234 I also feel that way! I still have about 3 weeks until I hit the 12 week mark! Got a second midwife appointment on Wednesday (she didn't book a long enough appointment last time!) and hopefully will get my date through for the scan not long after that!
@CrystalBlaze I'm sorry it's all been messy for you. I'm sure it will be fine but I can completely understand why you feel the way you do. I would suggest the same as @SheRaTheAllPowerful and see if they can call you with any cancellations or anything.

So I found out yesterday that my other sister (I have one who is about to give birth any day now!) is also pregnant and is only 2 weeks ahead of me! God I feel for my parents having all 3 daughters pregnant at the same time!!

newrubylane · 24/09/2018 13:25

Hello. I'm also due in April. It's my first baby. I'm about 9 weeks and have my first appt with the midwife tomorrow.

SheRaTheAllPowerful · 24/09/2018 13:45

@5tarlight Donna had started this thread and it’s kept going, I imagine once it runs out it will go onto just being in the antenatal group. I’m on both threads :) I like that chat.
I think more people especially those new to Mumnet or first pregnancy don’t know to look in the other group x

MigMog · 24/09/2018 16:08

@purplestar I'm very similar. Little sis is getting induced tomorrow. I'm 11 weeks. Busy family. Little sis didn't take our announcement well though, she wasn't happy (however it did take us a year and 8month so it's not like we planned to clash with her).

SheRaTheAllPowerful · 24/09/2018 16:36

I find that odd MigMog was she not pleased for you? Or just feels you’re stealing her thunder? People are funny, add hormones into the mix and it can all get a bit crazy. I am having the discussions of where to spend Christmas, I just feel like hiding at home and can’t be bothered to see everyone, probably just hormonal and moody though!

MigMog · 24/09/2018 16:48

I think its a mixture. Only family know for now, and her baby will arrive before we tell people. So she's got the limelight still. I'll blame a bit on the hormones and the rest on her. But our babies will be the same age pretty much, so it's a nice thing!

TheMagicTorch · 24/09/2018 16:49

My 3 sisters have all been pregnant at the same time as one of the others (I know, they're very fertile!) so I'm waiting for one of them to announce their next pregnancy 😂 I'd be happy for them if they did though!

5tarlight · 24/09/2018 16:53

Thanks SheRa, thought I was missing something 😂 Am in an easily confusable state these days! Well hello other April ladies hope you're all doing well and fighting all the nausea and tiredness better than I am 🍀 🙂
