Hi all, so I've only just found out I'm pregnant! 3.5 weeks so still early on but looking for others in the same stages as me. Marginally terrified, apprehensive and anxious but majorly excited for my journey with little bean!

Llondbol can’t you just only take the pregnacare multivitamin and just not take the prescribed folic acid as it’s already contained? Or otherwise just take a normal mutivitamin I assume regular ones don’t contain it as it’s mainly a pregnancy thing.

Apologies if I’m wrong, you’re prob best speaking to your gp

Llondbol · 19/09/2018 15:50

Thanks lovely - it's because I need 5mg and the vitamins all contain the recommended dose of 4mg 😕 nothing's straightforward is it....

mumof1willbe2 · 19/09/2018 17:14

@Laney79 so sorry to hear this😔 thinking of you❤️

dellabrew · 19/09/2018 17:30

@Llondbol - I'm not disagreeing with your doctor, but I was prescribed the same, the extra 5mg and she told me that it doesnt matter having extra in the multi vits as your body just wees out anything you dont need, you cant actually 'overdose' on it. So I'm taking the 5mg along with a normal prenatal with the folic acid in...hope that helps?

Llondbol · 19/09/2018 17:36

Thanks @dellabrew - will stick with them then :-)

@Laney79 I've just read your post - I'm so sorry to hear you're going through it again :-(

Chivari · 19/09/2018 19:37

So sorry @Laney79 xx

Chivari · 19/09/2018 20:09

Evening ladies. Hope everyone is ok!

I'm getting to the point where I need to start thinking of some maternity clothes for work. By the end of the day by trousers and skirts are really tight around my tummy and getting uncomfortable! Online there is a really bad selection. Anyone have any suggestions as to where is best to go for maternity work clothes?

purplestar9 · 19/09/2018 20:11

Good evening ladies. Apologies for being AWOL for a couple of weeks! Thought I'd check in with you all. How far along are you and how are you feeling? :)

Chivari · 19/09/2018 20:20

Hi @purplestar9 hope you're well. I am 9 weeks today 😍😍 and feeling completely shattered (falling asleep by 8pm most nights) and have also had some struggles with hyperemesis. However, this is now under control with meds so I can function again.

How are you??

purplestar9 · 19/09/2018 20:25

@Chivari I'm 8+1 today :) I have been very tired, usually in the middle of the day at work! Not good haha. I feel sick when I get hungry (which is a lot!) but my problem is I have anxiety which stems around being/feeling sick so of course my mind makes everything worse! But I feel like I'm dealing with it a little better and literally eating whenever I can and as much as I can (which isn't much at a time). Today, I have been dealing with really bad trapped wind pains in my stomach... all day!
I'm sorry you've been dealing with that. My friend also has it, but she's a little further along and said she's feeling much better too (but she's also running around after her little boy!)
I'm so looking forward to the first scan but the 12 week mark feels so far away!

donna474 · 19/09/2018 20:33

@Chivari I'm going to need some maternity trousers soon. I'm 10 weeks tomorrow and so bloated and big. If I'm not eating biscuits I'm thinking about eating them which is so not like me. Feeling drained by the end of the day and then throw in two step kids to run around for after a long day at work and I'm falling asleep before 9.

This does get better doesn't it?!?!

Yes 12 week scan is so exciting @purplestar9 we actually had an early scan last Saturday at 8+3 weeks which was amazing! Saw babies little heartbeat and was just such a lovely experience.

I have my booking in appt tomorrow. Have you had yours yet?

Chivari · 19/09/2018 20:36

😂😂 I hope so @donna474 I'm looking forward to the 'pregnancy glow' whenever/if ever it arrives!! Definitely don't have it right now

purplestar9 · 19/09/2018 20:46

@Chivari yes I had it last week but she's booked me in again next week to finish it off cause she said there wasn't enough time in the first appointment to do all the paperwork!
Aww that's so cute! I cant wait to see the heartbeat 💕

CrystalBlaze · 20/09/2018 08:05

Morning everyone! Glad to hear you're feeling better @Chivari and hope the nausea keeps at bay @purplestar. I'm 9 weeks tomorrow. Have my booking in appt on Monday!

I am definitely starting to show a bit and ordered two pairs of maternity jeans on Asos. One pair is nice but the other is utterly awful so that's going back. I work in the meeja so can get away with leggings and baggy tops and trainers which is a relief.

Chivari · 20/09/2018 08:30

I think I need to do the same @CrystalBlaze but definitely need some work clothes too! Just can't find any I like - unless I pay £70 for a pair of suit trousers!

Mariposa123 · 20/09/2018 09:05

@donna474 I think we've got the exact same dates - I'm 10 weeks today too! I'm still feeling so sick, but I've only actually been sick a few times. My diet is so bad at the moment, and while my brain knows it wants vegetables my stomach seems to only want crisps and lollipops. My skin is not thanking me for that either!

SheRaTheAllPowerful · 20/09/2018 11:11

Rice pudding has totally made me feel better this morning, am still absolutely zonked though

beaa2712 · 20/09/2018 13:17

My work trousers on the brink of popping open now!!! Have to wear long tops otherwise my zip is showing half undone!! Feel like it's too early to buy maternity clothes though so trying to just live in leggings when I can haha!! I'm 10 weeks tomorrow and feeling at my worst being sick and so tired can barely stay awake past 8!!

SheRaTheAllPowerful · 20/09/2018 14:06

Bea just use a hair and to hold trousers up if your tip covers it :)

TheMagicTorch · 20/09/2018 15:07

If your top doesn't cover it, I have bought two of these to go under my tops and over my hair-banded jeans

😂

donna474 · 20/09/2018 19:16

@Mariposa123 I'm due 18th April as early scan shows. Going by LMP I would be 24th April so will see at dating scan which one it will be. Feel quite sick today but there's a bit of a bug going round the school I work in so hoping I've not caught that

Buttons28 · 21/09/2018 14:32

Hi ladies, hope you are all doing ok?

I think I'm about 9 weeks but really looking forward to having the dating scan so we can find out for sure. I'm not confident with my dates as I didn't have a period between stopping the pill and falling pregnant.
Have my booking in appointment on Monday, do they actually check you are pregnant or do they just take your word for it? I really want someone else to confirm it as I feel like we are in our own little bubble right now.
Tiredness has eased off which is great but really struggling with bloating. Anyone have any tips to help with this?

jellybeann · 21/09/2018 22:31

Only just got the date through for our 12 week scan today after a bit of an error by the midwife, and it’s on Monday! I’ll be 12+6... so excited but so SO nervous😥 Sickness is slowly started to fade - I’ve gone from being sick 3/4 times a day to only a couple of times a week!! Thank goodness, it was really starting to wear me out :(

Can’t wait to tell the rest of our family after the scan!! It’s so hard keeping it from people, especially when it’s all we want to talk about!

jellybeann · 21/09/2018 22:32

@Buttons28 they just take your word for it, as home tests are generally so reliable and a false positive is very unlikely Xx
