@niclw i had mine GTT two weeks ago and last week found out that I am having Gestational Diabetes. I have been but on diet control and have been monitoring-my glucose level 3-4 times a day. I am having review appointment on 18th. So looking forward to it.
Donot be nervous. I am afraid of needles as well. But had to do for lovely baby.
Good luck for test. Hopefully your blood test will be normal.
Is it ur 1st pregnancy ? .

Katjolo · 13/06/2018 16:43

Has anyone had the whooping cough vaccination yet?

niclw · 13/06/2018 19:01

@Katjolo I had it two weeks ago.

niclw · 13/06/2018 19:02

@bluees Thanks. I survived the test although it took longer than I expected. Just waiting for the result. Yes it's my first pregnancy.

snowy1982 · 13/06/2018 21:02

I had it a about 6 weeks ago I think

Katjolo · 13/06/2018 21:24

Did you have any bad side effects following the vaccination out of interest?

niclw · 13/06/2018 22:12

@Katjolo The only side effect I had was a little lump forming near the injection site. Otherwise it was fine, no other problems.

bluees · 13/06/2018 23:06

@Katjolo i have booked mine on Tuesday. Still confused. .

snowy1982 · 14/06/2018 05:54

Same as @niclw, I had a small lump/bump for a couple days and arm was a bit sore

surreygirl1987 · 14/06/2018 07:05

My arm has been really sore for the past few days. .. same as when I had my flu jab :(

SeattleKate · 15/06/2018 11:23

My arm is still pretty sore and I had my vaccination over a week ago.

Does everyone have the diabetes test? No one has said anything to me about it.

snowy1982 · 15/06/2018 12:33

@seattlekate not everyone has to have it, there are criteria that will trigger the need for the test.

snowy1982 · 15/06/2018 13:00

So, now we are all starting (or close to starting) the final trimester, how are we all keeping?

I am feeling increasingly more cumbersome and I imagine it is only going to get much worse. Also starting to freak out a little bit about the whole giving birth thing (FTM)

surreygirl1987 · 15/06/2018 20:00

I'm okay but feel HUGE! And we know we're only going to get bigger. ..

niclw · 15/06/2018 21:12

I'm good. Struggling with tiredness,

@snowy1982 I've decided to pretend that the whole birth thing isn't happening. I'm sure that I'll have to confront it at NCT classes but still got a few weeks to go till then.

snowy1982 · 15/06/2018 21:17

@niclw, in my trust they do this scheme for FTMs where they have parenting classes along with regular antenatal appointments, I have one this week on labour so I will be facing it then. Have also got a hypnobirthimg book and one called postive birth. Trying to get in the zone and make a birthing plan (and one or two back ups). I am also struggling with tiredness but then I have been the whole way through, I never got the 2nd trimester energy boost that others got.

@surreygirl, I feel huge too, DH keeps telling me it’s all bump (i know he’s telling a little white lie there) but it definitely doesn’t feel that way

niclw · 15/06/2018 21:35

@snowy1982 I think my 2nd trimester energy boost last about four weeks but I'm now counting down till the end of term when I won't be so worn out from work. I've kind of got a birthing plan sorted: birthing pool using gas and air but to be flexible if I cant cope pain wise. I know I need more details but I'm a planner and hate when plans don't work out so would rather not be disappointed.

snowy1982 · 15/06/2018 21:47

My plan so far is very vague, I want to keep things as natural as possible, but want to know the option is there if I need more pain relief. My midwife lead unit is attached to the hospital so I know the options are all there and close to hand

Ktn35 · 16/06/2018 20:00

Hi, I can't believe we're at this point already! I haven't checked in here for a while as I've had a pretty roughy ride recently. I was admitted to hospital after having terrible period like pains they were worried I was going into pre term labour. Pain got worse and worse until I was just lying screaming on the bed. Luckily it wasn't labour but it took a week and a misjudge discharge ( I lasted less than 24 hours out of hospital) until they found three big fibroid tumours in my uterus which were degenerating and causing my uterus to contract thus causing the pain. I have honestly never felt pain like it. They can't remove them as too dangerous and they are likely to shrink again after birth but I have to be monitored to check they don't grow more or stop the baby growing. Also the birth could now be complicated and there is a high risk of bleeding during/after. Luckily at the moment it doesn't look like I will need a section but if she doesn't grow they might induce early. Anyway pain has now reduced and I am back to work (gently) on Monday but it's been pretty miserable!
Only positive is other women who have had this condition say the fibroid pain is worse than labour so hopefully it will be less of a shock for me!

Ktn35 · 16/06/2018 20:01

Hope you are all well xxxxx

snowy1982 · 17/06/2018 07:34

@ktn35 sorry to hear that and glad that you and your baby are ok, it must have been so scary for you. Take it as easy as you can from now on

niclw · 17/06/2018 10:34

@Ktn35 Sorry to hear that you have had a rough ride recently. Make sure you take care of yourself.

Ktn35 · 18/06/2018 08:03

Thanks guys. I'm back at work today but 'gently' so no teaching yet ... ! Feeling strange after 3 1/2 weeks off (1 week was 1/2 term though!) x

Katjolo · 18/06/2018 17:54

@ktn35- continue to look after yourself and take care.

snowy1982 · 21/06/2018 13:48

Just had a bit of a coughing fit and think I may have strained some muscles in my back Sad

Don’t think I’ve pulled any as it would be a lot sorer than it is, but it’s still not too good
