To those of you that have bought your travel system already... What did you go for? I've been looking closely at mamas and papas.

snowy1982 · 02/06/2018 12:10

I’ve ordered the mamas and papas ocarro, was initially going to get the sola2 but ocarro seemed easier to fold down, looked a bit more comfortable, seemed sturdier and (importantly for me as I live rurally and will be walking on country lanes etc) had bigger wheels

Katjolo · 02/06/2018 12:23

I've also been looking at the ocaro. Heading to mamas and papas at the end of June to try some out. I agree that it looks really sturdy.

You may already know this but if you’re looking to save money on essentials and have time to do a bit of footwork, I’d recommend the following:

Download the bounty app. They have a voucher for free mum to be packs. You can go to each shop and request one and they have own brand items. You can get them in Asda, Tesco, Boots and Superdrug. They include newborn nappies (25pack), wipes and sample sizes of baby creams. We’ve picked up 2 packs so far (Asda and Tesco) one had Sudocream and the other had pregnacare vitamins and 2 bottles of Dove baby wash.

Emma’s diary app also offer mum to be packs at Boots and Argos but I’ve found these a bit harder to get hold of. The one I did get was a bit rubbish and just had some Milton sterilising tablets and leaflets. Although online I’ve seen other people had much more stuff so could depend on the store.

If you have/get a Boots advantage card you can sign up to the parenting club for free. They also have giveaways through their app, at the moment you can get a free Mam bottle.

itallhappensforareason · 03/06/2018 07:54

We have also gone for the Ocarro 😋

snowy1982 · 03/06/2018 08:05

What colour did you go for @itallhappens?

Cb90 · 03/06/2018 08:17

Ive got the ocarro too 😊 I couldn't decide between chestnut and skyline grey but went for the chestnut!

snowy1982 · 03/06/2018 08:21

I wanted the chestnut but DH and woman in shop talked me into the mulberry

BlueBug45 · 03/06/2018 12:21

Personally I found the Bounty pack I got complete rubbish. The 2nd Emma's diary pack comes with a packet of pampers newborn nappies and some random other bits. I have two from two different Argos stores and the other bits in them are completely different.

snowy1982 · 05/06/2018 09:40

Can anyone recommend any good books for preparing for labour?

sososotired · 05/06/2018 16:15

@snowy1982 I read what to expect when you are expecting with my first which I found very relevant and helpfulSmile

itallhappensforareason · 05/06/2018 19:31

@snowy we went for the grey twill

snowy1982 · 06/06/2018 06:30

@itallhappens the grey twill is really nice too, I’m having pram envy here Smile.

So I booked myself a private scan and had it last night, just couldn’t shake my anxiety that something was wrong. Baby was fine (as my DH had been telling me anyway) but the wee shit was once again all curled up and hiding its face. Sonographer made lots of comments about its very long legs and estimated its weight to be 2lb 6 ozs so looks like am having a big one

niclw · 06/06/2018 11:30

Has anyone else had the whooping cough vaccine yet? I had it on Friday and where she injected looks normal but I've developed a little lump under the skin where she injected. I wasn't worried at first but it's now 5 days later and hasn't gone. Has anyone else had the same? How long did it last? I'm thinking of waiting till Friday then ringing the surgery and asking.

snowy1982 · 06/06/2018 11:38

@niclw, I had mine had a similar bump/hard lump at injection site, i can’t remember how long it lasted though as once my arm stopped aching I didn’t really pay any attention to it. Ring docs and ask them about it

mamaiFifi · 06/06/2018 22:01

Anyone got an acid feeling in their stomach and still vomiting? I have been taking rennies but feel like I could with something stronger: any advice? 23 weeks x

sososotired · 07/06/2018 16:07

@mamaiFifi I was still vomiting 🤮 at 22 weeks made an appointment with my gp who gave me anti sickness medication which is wonderful

niclw · 07/06/2018 17:00

@snowy1982 Thanks. I will be making an appointment for Monday I think as it's getting bigger rather than disappearing. Can't do tomorrow unfortunately.

surreygirl1987 · 07/06/2018 20:57

I've vomited a little at 23 weeks but only on a flight. I'd also get checked out if it was a regular occurrence

mamaiFifi · 07/06/2018 21:42

I have cyclizine but it's when I get up first thing, dr said to try to take it during the night when I wake up to
Pee but I always forget. Can u take raniticidine does anyone know? I am reading conflicting stories online.

ichifanny · 08/06/2018 08:37

I’m 25 weeks and been feeling like death for weeks been crying at midwives thinking I’m having some sort of psychotic break , turns out I’m severely b12 deficient and iron deficient so need injections , glad it’s something physical and can look forward to feeling decent again .

Stellarbella · 08/06/2018 09:00

I’m iron deficient too, apparently I’ll have to have it intravenously if it gets no better. And it means I can’t have a home birth or MLU birth, as there’s an increased risk of bleeding. So, labour ward for me, which is a bit rubbish Confused

ichifanny · 08/06/2018 09:02

That’s a shame it impacts the birth I’m a scheduled c section anyway at least. Have you been feeling very tired ?

SeattleKate · 08/06/2018 13:08

I’ve been feeling sick too stillbit I think it’s acid reflux/heartburn and also my stomach not having enough room for normal sized meals. I’m pretty short and I think there’s just not enough space!! Dr prescribed omaprazole which is fine to take when pregnant, hopefully will help with heartburn and sick feeling!

niclw · 11/06/2018 19:24

Has anyone had the gestational diabetes test? I've got mine tomorrow and really not looking forward to it. I'm only doing it as I want the best for the baby but I really hate blood tests and don't want the glucose drink. Also not sure how I'm going to get through the morning without food I'm always hungry at the mo. Any advice?
