Anjied · 04/05/2018 21:33

Hi, new here. I am due on 16 Sep 1st baby.
Anyone else already suffering from swollen feet & ankles? Any advice?

Charlie8888 · 05/05/2018 11:47

Hi @Katjolo I have my scan on Wednesday, it's all I can think about! Can't wait to find out what I'm having.

@Anjied I am due 16th Sep with my first baby too! Sorry can't offer any advice about your poor feet and ankles.

niclw · 05/05/2018 12:30

@Anjied I was reading about swollen ankles last night as mine have started to swell a little after standing at work. The advice was to drink plenty of water and sit with you feet up. I'm going to ask my midwife when I see her in a few weeks though.

kitty1013 · 05/05/2018 14:27

@Anjied I really recommend compression socks . My legs and feet feel much more energised when I'm wearing them!

bluees · 05/05/2018 20:04

@sososotired thanks. I will look at this and will order after bank holiday. X

bluees · 05/05/2018 20:08

@Katjolo i am buying things from primark sizes up mainly. I had one maternity leggings from h&m. £19.99. But other maternity cloths are bit expensive especially they will not be of much use after baby. So far buying size up (16) is working for me. still buying things in fashion and comfortable.

Katjolo · 08/05/2018 16:14

Hi all. Just back from my 20 week scan. Delighted that all is well. Good luck to everyone else with their upcoming scans.

niclw · 08/05/2018 18:00

@Katjolo I'm glad your scan went well.

itallhappensforareason · 09/05/2018 11:04

Glad your scans went well @dinomad and @katjolo.

23w tomorrow and still not feeling this "pregnancy glow" at all - anyone else? Just feel so tired all the time. Gets to about 1pm at work and I genuinely feel as if I am done for the day (and all I do is sit at a desk all day)!

snowy1982 · 09/05/2018 12:25

@itallhappens no glow here either. I am feeling marginally less exhausted than I was, but am still fit for nothing by the time I get home from work

dinomad · 09/05/2018 14:07

@it allhappens I don't have a glow unless I am exercising!!! Or sweating a lot!!! Feel like a teenager as I keep getting spots as well!!!!

niclw · 09/05/2018 15:34

No glow here either just insect bites. I didn't realise that being pregnant makes you more attractive to mosquitoes etc and I always get bitten loads and end up on antihistamine. As we can't take it while pregnancy the bites have all swollen and are disgusting. Will have to go to the doctors if they don't get better.

On the plus side I've got my 2nd attempt at a 20 week scan in 25 mins so get to see baby again.

Gracey88 · 09/05/2018 15:43

@Katjolo glad it all went well. I had mine last week Thursday and baby is healthy and very active, kept moving around loads.

@niclw hope it all goes well for you.

And no pregnancy glow for me just tied and spotty, got spots on my back now Shock

niclw · 09/05/2018 17:58

Scan didn't go well again. Baby was curled in a ball, Sonographer did not explain anything she saw. I didn't get to see the baby properly and so didn't get a pic either. She couldn't check some organs and because of my dates if I can't get an appt with them by Monday then I'll get sent to see a specialist instead. Apparently they can't do it as soon as you turn 23 weeks so Monday is the last possible day to complete the checks. My friend thinks I should complain as they made me wait over two weeks for the 2nd attempt and now we are running short of time for attempt 3.

snowy1982 · 09/05/2018 18:40

@niclw, that’s so disappointing. I think your friend is right, I would complain. I know the NHS is stretched and it’s hard to get appointments, but when they know there is a definite cut off point they really shouldn’t keep you waiting

Ktn35 · 09/05/2018 18:52

How annoying! Surely they can fit you in?! That's ridiculous

dinomad · 09/05/2018 19:00

@niclw sorry to hear that, I wouldn't be happy if it was me. The sonograpber should have explained what she could see at least. I was lucky as although the baby was moving around a lot the sonographer was really experienced and could get all the views she needed. I hope they hive you another appt and they can get a good view this time!!!

niclw · 09/05/2018 19:14

I've been looking at alternatives and have managed to find a private scan at £159 on Sunday but I can't really afford it. My friend has also suggested ringing the hospital she is booked into to see if they can do the scan instead. The two hospitals are gradually merging and eventually we will be able to use either but I'm not sure they will allow it yet.

itallhappensforareason · 09/05/2018 20:37

That must be so frustrating @niclw. Did they get you to go for a walk/have a wiggle about and stuff to get baby moving?

niclw · 09/05/2018 20:46

@itallhappensforareason Yes both times I wiggled and walked the ridiculously long distance back to the car park then back again. Unfortunately both attempts were at 4pm and I think the baby is sleeping then as I don't usually feel it move around that time plus the Sonographers finish at 5 and it was obvious they just wanted to go home. I'm considering just turning up and demanding to be seen at 8am.

niclw · 10/05/2018 17:10

I've got an appt for my 3rd attempt at the scan on Monday morning 8.40 so completes different time of the day. I'm going to refuse to leave until they have completed everything and I've seen a proper image of my baby not just it's kidneys.

On a different note, I just looked at one of the nurseries near my school. I really didn't know what to look for or have any kind of comparison so just listened and asked basic questions. I'm going to see the other one next week. Both have recommended that I reserve a place ASAP as they fill up quickly. It seems crazy that I need to reserve now for April 2019 though.

Ktn35 · 11/05/2018 07:36

Oh god I hadn't thought about nurseries!!! Do we need to book a place now?! Shock

Ktn35 · 11/05/2018 07:37

Fingers crossed for the scan ... at least they can't kick you out because it's closing this time ... x
