I've bought 2 pairs of jeggings from George, one black pair for work and one denim pair for casual. They were only £10 each and they're super comfy! Got some leggings and tights from ASOS and a cute little dress but that's it at the moment. I have ordered a maxi dress that's really for a wedding in June but I could also get away with just wearing it as summer wear. If we have a summer anything like this weather at the moment then I think I will be living in maxi dresses, can't be dealing with being uncomfortable and hot. This heat is making me sooo tired 😭

itallhappensforareason · 19/04/2018 16:06

@snowy sorry you've had an emotional day - you're right, I think it happens to us all. I've only had one proper outburst which was a few weeks ago and was over Domimos 🙈I felt so silly and was laughing at myself despite the fact I was crying!

niclw · 19/04/2018 16:43

I'm home now after a trip to Tesco to buy lovely ice creams and lollies. If it stays this warm I'll be living off them for the summer.

I really need to find some maternity clothes. I haven't got any yet. First stop on Saturday will be bravissimo for bras. I've already been told that m&s and John Lewis don't do my cup size so fingers crossed I find some.

itallhappensforareason · 19/04/2018 17:47

@niclw what size do you need? I'm normally a 34J but someone recommended the Freya under-wired nursing bra to me and the only size I could try was a 36HH. A lot of reviews said the cups come up big so I took a punt. Turns out it's perfect and really comfy!

itallhappensforareason · 19/04/2018 17:48

P.s. I also raised Asda earlier - lollies and Ben & Jerrys ice cream 😁😁

niclw · 19/04/2018 18:29

@itallhappensforareason I'm usually a 36F or FF so I'm assuming I'll need a 38F but I'm not sure. There's nothing in the town I live at all and I'm always borderline on sizes and have quite a big different between my left and right sides so I'm hoping that if I go further afield I might be able to find some maternity clothes as well as bras.

niclw · 19/04/2018 18:31

@itallhappensforareason I'm thinking that if the hot weather sticks for a bit I'm going to speak to the food teacher in my school who is also pregnant and see if I can keep ice lollies in their freezer for during the day. Yummy!

ShanC97 · 19/04/2018 21:20

Hi, I’m just after a bit of advice really, I’m 17 weeks pregnant tomorrow and I feel really anxious and down, I’m not starting to show at all and I’m sick of being compared to my step sister who is also pregnant, I don’t know whether it’s because I don’t feel pregnant anymore it’s making me doubt constantly that there’s not even a baby in there!’

sososotired · 20/04/2018 05:55

@ShanC97 try not to worry everyone is different my cousin is also pregnant at the moment and my bump is bigger than hers but I'm 18 weeks and she is 38!
It's very hard at this stage because you can't feel the baby move as reassurance! You need to to look after your emotional well-being (talking from experience here) if you are really worried and can't shift the feeling that your having ring your midwife they understand tell her how you feel and see if you can get an appointment to hear the babies heartbeat on a Doppler! Try not to buy a cheaper version of a Doppler because failing to find a heartbeat yourself can send emotions spiralling out of control;)
You are not alone in worrying and feeling anxious most mums to be so through that at some stage :) xxx

itallhappensforareason · 20/04/2018 07:34

@shanc97 I'm 20+1 and have now started to show and I still don't feel like there is a baby in there! I've not felt movement yet so I think that makes you more anxious. Our bodies are all so different though it's important to remember no 2 pregnancies will be the same. If you are really struggling I would talk to your midwife or maybe consider a private scan for reassurance?

CJ1990 · 20/04/2018 17:48

@ShanC97 don’t worry - I’m 20 weeks and still don’t feel pregnant! Can easily hide my bump still if I want to.

Had my 20 week scan today and got the all clear! So happy! I’m still amazed I can’t feel her move yet! Shock she was turning and kicking like crazy. No anterior placenta. I guess it will come :) so nice to reach the half way point and be told all seems ok

CJ1990 · 20/04/2018 17:49

Oh I second the midwife idea :) I rang mine last week as I was really worried - she let me come into listen to the heartbeat for reassurance :)

dinomad · 20/04/2018 18:33

Does anyone else not have a phone number for their midwife? I only have an "emergency" out of hours medicom number!!

niclw · 21/04/2018 08:42

I feel like I'm going nuts today. Woke up from a really scary nightmare about my baby and as a result now worried about it. I don't usually feel any movement in the morning but it's worrying me that I haven't. Probably a good thing that I only have to wait three days for my scan to check everything is ok.

itallhappensforareason · 21/04/2018 09:17

@CJ1990 glad your scan went well

@dinomad I don't have a direct number for my midwife either, just loads of contact numbers for different departments at the hospital and the community midwife team.

deste · 21/04/2018 13:16

My DD is due on the 4th of September. She is definitely showing and had a scan on Tuesday where everything was fine. This morning she had to leave work early, (she is a swimming instructor) because she had a severe pain in her back. She thought she might need to call an ambulance because it was so bad. She took paracetemal and the pain was subsiding a little. I have told her to call the maternity unit if it doesn’t go away. Has anyone suffered anything similar.

DariaG · 21/04/2018 16:20

How's everyone surviving the heat?
I'm so excited about the scan on Wednesday!!!
@deste I think any severe pain should be reported to the midwife immediately just to stay on the safe side. I have some back problems and sometimes have very sharp pain in the lower back (even can't sit down if I'm laying), but I had it before pregnancy as well.

DariaG · 21/04/2018 16:24

Forgot to ask, anyone has bum pains??Grin I have pains in the lower part of my bum closer to the inner thigh, it's very dull, feels more like muscle pain to me, just in a very unusual place and I had it only for the past three daysHmm

sososotired · 21/04/2018 16:56

@DariaG have you investigated hemroids? Not a nice subject I know but common in pregnancy 🤰

bluees · 21/04/2018 16:58

I have similar pain but more towards right pelvic side. I was told by midwife it's ligament pain. Can take paracetamol or hot/ cold compress.

bluees · 21/04/2018 17:01

I am 18+2. Dr said baby is down below but my stomach is big. Midwife said it's bloating. Use peppermint water. I checked boots bit cannot find any. At the moment I am feeling so stuffed stomach / uterus
Any idea what to do 😒

CJ1990 · 21/04/2018 17:36

Any idea where is the best place to get baby clothes from? I’ve started looking but feeling a bit overwhelmed! No idea what’s best to get for new borns (sounds stupid I no!) and everything seems pricey!

sososotired · 21/04/2018 18:21

@CJ1990 with my first child I found there is no hard and fast rule but vest and "baby grows" are very practical. H&M sizes come up small Sainsbury's are more generous

niclw · 21/04/2018 18:34

@CJ1990 I've asked advice from friends and they have all said the same. Buy babygros rather than outfits. They said people will buy outfits as gifts and usually in the smaller sizes so they can only be used for a short time. I was then confused about whether to buy sleeveless, short sleeved or long sleeved babygros and my colleague said that as I'm due mid sept that she advised long sleeved. I've only got 5 so far - 3 in a set from mothercare size 0-1 month (I'm concerned these won't last long particularly if a big baby) so I'm now buying 0-3 month and got 2 so far. I think I will buy a couple of short sleeved in case it's a hot September.

CJ1990 · 21/04/2018 19:00

Thanks ladies :) it’s all very confusing!! Ha
