Think risk is very low ... it also suggests you stay away from birthing sheep ...

Ktn35 · 13/04/2018 20:34

So I had my 16 week appointment today and she wouldn't listen for the heartbeat - she said she wouldn't do that until 24 weeks ... is this normal?! Feel anxious now! X

niclw · 13/04/2018 20:47

Thanks @Ktn35. Thankfully the nhs says cooked soft cheese is ok. I'll keep an eye out for symptoms though.

Sorry to hear that you didn't get to hear the heartbeat at your appt. From what I can work out it varies depending on where you are which I imagine is frustrating for you today. Apparently they don't listen in some areas as baby is sometimes small and hiding so can cause unnecessary worry if they can't find it. I was asked if I wanted to hear it and warned that she might not find it.

Ktn35 · 13/04/2018 21:00

I wish I'd asked her more directly and just pushed for it. I was very British about it and just accepted it! Midwife was lovely though which was a relief. I felt it was all very personal and i will see the same midwife all the way through which I wasn't expecting in London! X

Ktn35 · 13/04/2018 21:01

I'm
Dreading the next term ... don't want to face the kids at all on Monday! How are you managing school @niclw

Doll87 · 13/04/2018 21:30

16 weeks today guys!!! And we find out if it's a little prince or princess tomo!!!! So excited but nervous at the same time. Can't wait to see little baby 😍

niclw · 13/04/2018 21:39

@Ktn35 I really don't want to go back. I was so tired last term and don't want to get back to feeling like that. We don't have students on Monday so a slightly easier start back. I just keep reminding myself that my maternity leave will start immediately after the summer hols for 2 terms.

niclw · 13/04/2018 21:51

@Ktn35 I'm hoping to keep my pregnancy from the students for as long as possible at least till half term but I don't think I'll manage it as I've had year 11 and 12 students looking at my belly already.

AyeAyeFishyPie · 13/04/2018 21:54

20 weeks here, all my pupils know now. My sixth form guessed first, probably about 4 weeks ago. I have been obviously pregnant for a while!

niclw · 13/04/2018 22:01

I've only just started showing since we broke up but my belly has really popped out so I will have to wait and see.

Ktn35 · 13/04/2018 22:39

Haha! I went in last week for a Y11 'study support' - you know the pointless 4 hour waster session aimed to make up for ( years of laziness from under achievers!) - and wore a really right top but then were all to scared to ask! I'm going to see how long before someone plucks up the courage to ask!

I'm going to go in and explain that I will no longer be working in the evenings or Sundays - if it can't be done 7:30-6 it is unreasonable! That my plan anyway ...

Ktn35 · 13/04/2018 22:40

Please excuse the weird punctuation there!

niclw · 13/04/2018 23:12

@Ktn35 I know the kind of session. I did two 3 hr sessions in the first week of the hol with year 11 and 12. One of the very polite girls kept looking at my belly but didn't say anything. I know there are others who won't think twice about asking. I'm hoping to last till my scan at least - only 7 school days to get through till then.

Ktn35 · 13/04/2018 23:16

@niclw you are so lucky ... still 4 weeks until mine! I'm massive though - pretty sure I can't hide it anymore! Are you going to find out gender - we are undecided x

niclw · 13/04/2018 23:18

@Ktn35 No. I've always said I wouldn't find out. The lack of baby clothes in colours other than pink and blue nearly changed my mind but I'm sticking with my original choice. I'm hoping the not knowing will help me to get through labour. Can't imagine it's going to help that much though.

SeattleKate · 14/04/2018 09:27

I’m 16+3 and feeling very not pregnant :(. Finally have stopped feeling sick all the time but apart from some lower back pain (which is itself worrying me!) and some podge around the middle, I’m feeling very normal. I also lost a pound despite my best efforts to eat a lot which might seem silly but is a bit worrying!

niclw · 14/04/2018 10:10

@SeattleKate Don't worry about losing a pound it is probably that the baby used the nutrients to have a growth spurt. Just continue to eat a balanced diet and it will soon go back on. I lost 7 pounds between weeks 6 and 16 but then suddenly put 4 on in week 17. My midwife didn't comment on it at all. I also didn't feel pregnant until week 17. The only sign of pregnancy was extreme tiredness but suddenly my belly popped out last week and I can suddenly tell. It will happen to you soon so just hang in there.

SeattleKate · 14/04/2018 10:36

@niclw I keep being tempted to eat a load of ice cream every night to try and gain weight but telling myself that’s not rational!! I was so pleased with myself for getting back to pre-pregnancy weight last week!

Ktn35 · 14/04/2018 12:10

Is anyone else finding they are having more arguments with their partners? We have had some pretty serious arguments lately that have really got me down? 😔 x

Sushirolls · 14/04/2018 14:05

Afternoon all Flowers

My DD had her "16 week" appt with the mw yesterday (she is 19 weeks today!). All is well with little one, she's bang on for dates & we got to listen to his/her HB 🎉 She said she could feel baby moving while placing the doppler and I heard a little kick 😍

The mw was a new one as apparently, they've switched all of them around to different gp surgeries, but she was nice Smile

On the countdown until my DD finds out if she is carrying a little boy or little girl 💕 very excited to find out! 1 week & 1 day to go!!

Hope everyone is enjoying the lovely weather today & has a great weekend xo

lookingforaline18 · 14/04/2018 14:07

Sushirolls · 14/04/2018 15:11

Congratulations @lookingforaline18 🎉

Gracey88 · 14/04/2018 16:46

@Ktn35 I think it's hormones me and my husband have have some fights but I've basically had to ask he consider that I'm very emotional and all over the place and a little patience and empathy would go a long way. Try talk about how feel and listen to how he's feeling. Hope that helps xx

ichifanny · 14/04/2018 17:52
