Thanks, snowy, I suppose it's the same appointment as the 16 weeks one, but parenting lessons at week 16 ?! My midwife gave me a letter saying that the appointment will be about birth options, diet and exercise, travel and so on, just couldn't figure out why DH needs this information Hmm was it informative enough or should I prepare some questions ahead?

itallhappensforareason · 09/04/2018 11:33

My 16 week appointment was a 1:1 with the midwife but she was chasing me about booking onto some antenatal classes and was a bit sharp with me because I took all the leaflets she gave me at my booking in appointment out of my notes folder. There's enough to carry round in that bloody folder without having hundreds of leaflets in it as well! I'm 18+4 and don't feel ready for any type of class!!!

snowy1982 · 09/04/2018 11:36

It’s a scheme they are doing in my area for first time mums, it’s all about good mental health during pregnacy and bonding as well as labour/pain relief and the actual looking after the baby stuff. So every time I see the MW there will be another appointment. The first appointment was more a bit of an ice breaker one so didn’t really get much info from it

Charlotte2101 · 09/04/2018 14:32

Hi there
Please can I join? I'm due 31st August but feel like it will be September
I'm 27, from Halifax and this is my first baby. Have my 20 week scan on Monday but I won't be finding out the gender, want to keep it as a surprise.
Had a good pregnancy so far, only been sick once but started to feel a bit dizzy in the last few weeks.
How is everyone? Is anyone else from Halifax or Huddersfield? Xx

Charlotte2101 · 09/04/2018 14:43

Just reading back and see a lot of you talking about hearing the heartbeat at midwife appointments. I'm jealous mine says they won't ever look for it because it's not an indicator of anything or important Hmm I'm not a big fan of her to be honest I think she's very old fashioned.
I have bought a Doppler so can listen myself, tend to do it once a week. I'm hoping il maybe hear it at the 20 week scan but otherwise il carry on doing it myself

For whoever bought a pioneer at toys r us, me too! However we got it about a month ago for 300 because they thought it was a wayfarer so put it through at a lower price, I bought the car seat for £100 to match but I was tempted to hedge my bets and wait longer (I'm a bargain hunter) but decided not too but I'm gutted to hear that car seats are 50% off now, always a gamble I suppose, I got a third off it xxx

We are going to do Shared Parental Leave so DH is going to take 4-6 months and I’ll take the rest. We’re probably going to take the first part together because we’re moving abroad when baby will be about 4 months old so no point in DH waiting to take his at the end!

DariaG · 09/04/2018 19:40

So the meeting was not very useful, all the information they provided was the one I've read on the NHS website as soon as I found out I'm pg. But MW showed us the birthing unit which was nice.
@itallhappensforareason we were told to book the antenatal class ahead asap but for week 30-34 and also to book breastfeeding class for week 36

DariaG · 09/04/2018 20:13

@Charlotte2101 my MW wouldn't listen to heartbeat, can't wait for the scan to get some peace of mind, haven't felt any kicks yet, no more nausea and it's been way too long since the first scan so I don't really feel pg anymore

DG87 · 09/04/2018 20:59

Every time I have a scan coming up, I start getting so anxious and worried that something has happened since the last scan. I have a private scan booked on Saturday (16w by then) and i starting to get really nervous. I just don't feel pregnant....symptoms have dropped off now, still haven't hit the "glowing" period (just look like a dull, black and white version of myself atm)...can't help but worry!!! Hurry up Saturday to put my mind at rest...

Charlotte2101 · 09/04/2018 21:06

@DariaG I know what you mean, I had my first scan at 11+4, I'm 19+3 now so il be 20+3 when I have my scan next week
I haven't felt any kicks or bubbles like people mention, apart from getting a bit more of a bump and a bit of backache I wouldn't really know that I was pregnant. How far on are you? Xx

DariaG · 10/04/2018 07:48

I'm 18+2 now, so will be having a scan in two weeks can't wait to find out the gender! @Charlotte2101 you must be very patient to wait for your surprise Grin
@DG87 I become anxious only when I'm at the appointment! Yesterday the nurse was checking my urine and whispered "there's nothing" to the MW, I panicked so much, completely forgot that they are checking for protein, sugar etc Easter Grin

snowy1982 · 10/04/2018 08:42

Morning all, is anyone else having pains low down in the pelvic area, almost to the groin? Am having sharp, almost muscular pains low down and to the sides. Their not overly painful and am not overly concerned about them but just wondering if anyone else has experienced itv

DariaG · 10/04/2018 11:14

I had it a couple of times, it shouldn't be something to worry about if you have it for a short time or if the pain goes away if you change your position

snowy1982 · 10/04/2018 11:45

@DariaG, generally I have been having them when standing up after sitting at my desk for a while that sort of thing so definitely wasn’t bothered by it. Last 2 days they’ve been more frequent, but it’s always just a wee twinge then it’s gone, never prolonged and always a fairly low level of pain. My main concern is that it may indicate that I’ll sufffer from pelvic pain later on (DH was joking about me needing to go on bed rest because of it)

Helen290 · 10/04/2018 11:47

@snowy1982 sounds like growing pains / round ligament pain if it's in the groin area and it comes and goes.

snowy1982 · 10/04/2018 11:50

@helen290, that’s what I thought (though if i’m having so much of them at the moment you’d think i’d be showing by now Smile)

Helen290 · 10/04/2018 11:55

I am so anxious about my 20 week scan Thursday I will 19 +5 I'm terrified something will be wrong, I kinda wish I had a private scan i just really hope everything is ok 🙏🏻🤞🏻 . I think I have felt baby more recently but now I'm worried I have confused it with round ligament pain I get little pokes I useto get flutters not painful I get them all over but it says online round ligament pain can be like that also now I'm confused 🙈.

Helen290 · 10/04/2018 11:56

@snowy1982 not everyone shows some people don't show till later on 🙂

snowy1982 · 10/04/2018 12:03

@helen290, oh I know we all show at different times, I just really want my bump now (excuse to shop Smile). At the minute I look like I’ve put on a few pounds but that’s it, but I really want to look pregnant.

I know how you feel re scan, I am so anxious about mine and it’s not for another 2 weeks. I’ve no reason to think things aren’t ok but that doesn’t mean I won’t worry about it. I keep telling myself that the odds are in our favour now and mostly it works to calm me down. Just hope the next couple weeks fly by

Helen290 · 10/04/2018 12:06

@snowy1982 I am the same I have no reason to think something is wrong I just can't help but worry the thought terrifies me, I still get nausea/ sickness a few times a week so guessing thats something and weird dreams just want time to go fast!! .

PinkyPromise77 · 10/04/2018 12:13

@snowy I had a few sharp pains recently as well and believe it is growing pains.

Also I have no bump and look like I just ate a couple pies too many :D I had the private gender scan to find out we are having a BOY! And he was flipping around like crazy and I'm pretty sure that I felt him move a few times now lol like he is doing 360 in my tummy and I definitely felt a small kick :D So exciting!!

snowy1982 · 10/04/2018 12:18

Ah congrats on your baby boy @pinkypromise. Everyone seems to be finding out what their having except for me, I’ve decided to keep it a surprise.

@helen290, my nausea and sickness finally seem to have passed, but I still feel like a zombie, my energy levels are so bad at the minute and don’t seem to be improving at all

DariaG · 10/04/2018 12:20

@snowy1982 as I was saying earlier, I had a group appointment yesterday, only one lady had a nice round bump out of 8 Smile

snowy1982 · 10/04/2018 12:28

When I had mine a couple weeks back loads of people had bumps so I was panicking a bit during the class, turned out due to some appointment clashes we had people in our appointment that day that were 1-2 months ahead and who wouldn’t normally be in with us (phew)

snowy1982 · 10/04/2018 12:29

I have a distinct bit just below my belly button that is much rounder, more defined and former than rest of my flab, so am assuming that is the start of a my bump
