That’s great @CJ1990, congratulations on your baby girl Grin

DG87 · 07/04/2018 19:13

@snowy1982 I have a wedding in June and have my eye on a couple of the mat dresses on Asos, I have some super comfy legging from there too which I'd highly recommend :)

DG87 · 07/04/2018 19:14

@CJ1990 awwwww congrats!!! A baby girl how lovely! We have our gender scan next week and I'm getting excited!!

Stellarbella · 07/04/2018 19:17

Tentatively posting here as I’m still very anxious about pregnancy! Had a scan today at 17+2 and all is looking good. Not feeling any movement but the scan showed a healthy, kicking, baby boy! We even had a look at baby things in mothercare, but I’m still not quite ready to buy anything Hmm
Glad things went well for you too, @CJ1990!

Gracey88 · 07/04/2018 19:51

@Stellarbella I'm just like you I've not bought anything eat except some maternity clothes only cause I thought why spend money on topshop jeans that may not fit in a few months.

Gracey88 · 07/04/2018 19:53

@CJ1990 congratulations a girl that's fantastic and I think it's good you saw her moving about. I'm 16 weeks and I've been feeling baby move since week 13 and it sometimes has the opposite effect, I worry why the baby is moving so much, have I eaten something bad or something else happening.

CJ1990 · 08/04/2018 13:15

@Stellarbella I’m 18 weeks 1 days and still anxious! Think I’ve finnaly
Passed a turning point since my
Private scan and figured if I can’t relax and get excited now then I never will, and that’s just going to be a horrible few months! So trying positive thoughts! :)

Waiting until after the anomaly scan to buy anything then can go all out! :)

CJ1990 · 08/04/2018 13:17

@gracey88 I guess there is always something to worry about! Still
Find it odd I don’t feel anything even though she was wriggling around like mad..but hopefully will feel her by the 20 week scan :)

FirstTimer18 · 08/04/2018 18:33

Hi everyone :)

I am 7+2 and all the symptoms have started to kick in over the past week or so.
I just wondered if anyone has any tips to reduce feeling sick? Fingers crossed I haven’t actually been sick yet.

My appetite is also through the roof! Does anyone have any snack ideas which are healthy that are actually filling? As when I snack on fruit, 20 minutes later I find myself so hungry!

Any advice would be welcome as this is our first pregnancy Smile

surreygirl1987 · 08/04/2018 19:58

Hi everyone can I join this thread?
Due date 30th September and am 15 weeks today! First time mother and freaked out about how much I don't know!!

@firsttimer18 the only thing I found that helped was eating constantly.... and dry rice crackers and ice lollies were the best!

itallhappensforareason · 08/04/2018 20:25

CJ1990 aww congratulations on your baby girl! Glad everything is good, hopefully you can start to relax now. At my 12 week scan little one was wriggling about so much, I find it so strange too that you can have something wriggling about inside you and not feel a thing!!

2 weeks on Wednesday and we have our next scan, hoping we will be able to find out the sex 🤞 we will start to buy things after the scan as well.

Went to Mamas & Papas today and looked at the Ocarro pram. Hubby and I both really like it and they let us see if we could fit it in hubby's boot as well, which it did (just). Means it will definitely fit in mine ok too though so think we're pretty much sold on that one. We did book a personal shopping experience for the weekend after our scan so we will see what comes of that.

snowy1982 · 08/04/2018 20:29

@itallhappens I saw the Ocarro in Mothercare last weekend, it looked really good, loved it in the sage green colour (but that might be because my nails are a sage green and the minute so it matched me Smile).

itallhappensforareason · 08/04/2018 20:36

snowy I loooove the sage green! Hubby is not a fan of green usually but to my surprise he said he liked it too. The grey actually looked really nice as well but I think the green is my favourite. The mind still boggles over how prams can be sooo expensive though!

snowy1982 · 08/04/2018 20:44

@itallhappens, it’s ridiculous how expensive they are. Although I love the ocarro I think at the minute we are leaning towards the sola2 as it’s cheaper (they don’t do it in sage green though Sad). Technically we can afford the ocarro, but I just don’t know if I want to spend that much.

niclw · 08/04/2018 23:32

Do any of you know when and how we get the MATB1 form? I forgot to ask my midwife about it on Friday and won't be seeing her till my 25 week appt. Unfortunately I need to have given it to my employer the week before at the latest due to may half term.

I've also been working out my maternity pay and how much time I can afford to take off work considering I'm on my own and it looks like I can take a few weeks extra than expected 😀🎉🎈

snowy1982 · 09/04/2018 05:43

@niclw, in my area we have to get that from the GP, I know with a lot of things different trusts have different rules, but try ringing your surgery to see if they provide it

niclw · 09/04/2018 08:05

@snowy1982 Thank you. I'll give them a ring.

CJ1990 · 09/04/2018 08:47

Hi @niclwl think it’s another one of those postcode lottery things again! My midwife says she gives it me at The 25 week appointment but I can ring her after the 20 week scan if I need it sooner

snowy1982 · 09/04/2018 08:50

@niclw, and woohoo re extra time off Smile I am still only taking 4 months(ish) but am phasing my return so will start back in Jan with 2 days in office, then in Feb it will be 3 days work then March it will be 4 days working in office and one from home (where I’ll be keeping on top of emails and calls etc but not doing a full days work). I have actually started making my childcare enquiries as was worried about waiting lists etc

niclw · 09/04/2018 09:20

@snowy1982 I've been worrying about childcare as well. I work in a coastal town that only has two nurseries so am planning on ringing both this week. Unfortunately I have to leave by 7.15 in the morning and the nurseries where I live don't open till 8am.

Im starting maternity leave 6 days before due date as I've managed to time it perfectly - get paid for the summer hols then start it on first day back then I'm going to be having 6 months off so will be back 1st April. It means I can do 1 week at school then have the 2 weeks Easter hols on full pay - the advantage of being a teacher.

snowy1982 · 09/04/2018 09:26

Me and DH both get a 7am train for work now but that’s going to have to change. My mum is going to do 1 day for us and I will have 1 day at home so only have 3 days to sort. MIL has mentioned doing a day possibly but that’s not definite yet. Have made enquiries to 2 places, one will be cheaper if we only need 2 days but if we need 3 it’s cheaper to go to the other. Both are good spots so it really will come down to money

itallhappensforareason · 09/04/2018 09:26

I'm really not sure how long to take off at the moment. I was thinking maybe 6 months and then go back to work starting with 3 days a week then gradually building up back to full-time, but snowy the way you are planning to do it sounds good so might actually consider doing something like that.

We're lucky in that we have a lot of family members who are willing to help out. MIL already said she can have baby on Mondays as she doesn't work and can also take Tuesdays off if needed. Hubby is self employed and could have a day off in the week. My mum works from home so she could possibly have baby one day too.

I will be working from home as part of this new project so although not ideal I can also multi-task and be on both baby and work duty. My boss is really keen to just fit in around me so that's a bonus.

Seems like there is so much to think about and I find it really daunting thinking about how I'm going to juggle everything but people do it every day. I'm sure it'll all slot into place....

DariaG · 09/04/2018 09:29

Morning, ladies! May I join you?
I'm due on the 10th of Sep and going to my 18 weeks appointment today, have any of you attended yours already? Midwife told me to bring DH with me but I was wondering should I? It's supposed to be a group session

snowy1982 · 09/04/2018 09:39

@DariaG, welcome to the group. I didn’t have an 18 week appointment, had a 16 week one though and DH came with me. Mine was also a group thing as in my area they do antenatal appointments and parenting classes together so medical checks were solo obviously but then into a group class

snowy1982 · 09/04/2018 09:52

I am a director/shareholder in company I work at so I would love to take longer off and can afford too, but wouldn’t have anyone to run the place for any longer
