Anyone else due in November? Only 5 weeks along with first, super nervous, super excited! Rung GP but they just seem to have left me to it? Is this normal? They just asked my last period and they’d send a letter out... what happens now? What symptoms is everyone feeling at this stage? Any advice?

Crikey, did the midwife come to you? We had to go into the hospital! I can see what you mean about advertising the fact outside where you live though, not ideal. But at least she put you at your ease. Ours was really nice as well, which was particularly good after the snotty phone call I'd had from another midwife- but this lady was lovely and said she'd see us for all our appointments except the scans. Definitely made me less nervous about going back for the next check up.

Newdad82 · 12/04/2018 16:11

Yeah! Was easier i think having her come to our house. We got her direct number for any advice or queries etc but think that’s standard?

Jennyz123 · 12/04/2018 18:40

That's amazing! I had no idea midwives did home calls any more - they sure don't here. We did get a direct number though which was so reassuring! She even said we could text for non-urgent stuff, fantastic.

beckybum85 · 13/04/2018 10:48

Great news Jenny that you've finally had your booking appointment.. Yay!!!
Newdad that's brilliant about home visits, very personal! We have a birthing centre that we go to and then my local clinic for midwife appointments. If all goes smoothly i won't need to go to hospital i can choose the birthing centre which is really comfy and homey!
So 11 weeks today and the sodding ligament pains have begun, i am not kidding when people comment about stabbing pains but hope it helps anyone else yet to experience this that its normal and your uterus getting ready to pop out in the most easiest explanation I've been given. Made me feel a bit bleurgh yesterday though!!

Jennyz123 · 13/04/2018 15:44

Thanks Becky! Good to know about the stabbing pains, I didn't know that was a thing (should have read the booklets more carefully) so I definitely would have been panicking when that started up! Reassuring that it's all normal but not nice, hope you start feeling better soon.

Jennyz123 · 16/04/2018 17:40

Ohmigosh, just got my dating scan through for 27th! So excited, can't wait to see the baby now that it's hopefully even more baby-shaped :). I had to tell my parents at the weekend; I'd gone back to Ireland to visit family and had to sprint out of my auntie's living room for a massive throw up (the seabands are definitely not working for me as well as they were)! Oops... could probably have made something up about a stomach bug but really didn't have the energy at that point! Hope everyone else is getting along ok.

MissKx · 16/04/2018 21:05

Yayyy Jenny! Super exciting! I feel like it’s gonna be ages till my first scan, having major symptom loss this week which is making me anxious 😔 hate having these kind of weeks it puts all sorts of worry through your head

Hey MissK, aw that sucks - are you approaching 12 weeks? When I told my mum she said all her sickness was gone by 12 weeks in all three of her pregnancies. With any luck you're just winding down to the big hurdle!

beckybum85 · 17/04/2018 07:53

Hey MissK,
All my symptoms seemed to disappear at 10 weeks but still a healthy baby in there! I just have this round ligament pain that started last week and the very tell tale signs of a bump coming along!
Jenny i got my scan through for the 26th.. Next thursday seems like forever away!!!!!

Jennyz123 · 17/04/2018 08:31

I know right Becky!!! It seemed really soon when I first opened the letter and I was jumping up and down, but ever since then I've been wondering how I'm going to wait until next Fri! Thing is, if the dating from my early scan is right then I'll be just 10 weeks by then - I hope we're still able to see lots of baby. The early scan was so great but it really was just a blob with a heartbeat (which was amazing!), but I would love to be able to make out more of a head and little body :). Still, as long as the heart's still ticking away that's the main thing.

MissKx · 17/04/2018 08:49

Yeah I’m 9 week 2 days, reassuring to hear that thanks girls 😊 always nice to have someone to chat to on here when you’re having a down week! Deffo need to step away from negativity and google 😂😂 google helps nobody 🙄

Step away from Google! That way madness lies!!!!

Jennyz123 · 20/04/2018 17:46

Right chaps, I have a problem. Spaghetti. I want it. All. Day. Don't even care if it has sauce on. Could totally have it for breakfast. I had some last night and when I got to the last bite I could almost have cried because it was gone. What is going on?! Is this the nausea-tummy just wanting bulky carbs to settle it? Or an actual craving? Or both? Or am I actually just losing my freaking mind?! Anyone else with similar food issues - please say it's not just me!

beckybum85 · 20/04/2018 19:41

I can't believe i haven't had any cravings at all!!!

venus417 · 20/04/2018 20:37

Im due 22nd Nov. Had a few scans due to lots of bleeding etc started out with 2 babies currently got 1 happy baby growing well and beating heart so 🤞 for 12 week scan in 3 weeks time! Personally expecting a december baby then if it doesnt get to 40 +10 it will feel like its early 😂 this is baby #3 for me currently got an almost 3yo girl and 6mo boy so going to be a very busy christmas this year!! Hows everyone getting on?

DragonMummy1418 · 21/04/2018 10:33

My only craving is to feel human again.

Can I give you all some of my symptoms?

Severe sickness, dizziness, nausea, soreness, exhaustion and just started with minor heartburn (queue lots of burping)

Is there even any symptoms left? 🙈

Got my scan a week on Monday so looking forward to that and we're taking our DS who is very excited but I'm not sure he really understands what is going to happen.

Jennyz123 · 21/04/2018 10:56

Hey Venus, sorry to hear things have been difficult but it's good that things are looking positive now. Poor you Dragon, your symptoms sound horrendous. I've had a little of each but nowhere near as severe- lots of nausea all day every day but I've only had to properly throw up maybe three or four times. Only thing is last night started feeling like someone has taken a razor blade to my nipples (sorry if too much info)! Actually woke me up several times in the night, every time they brushed the duvet cover. Had to put a bra on under my nightie this morning. SO sore! They've been sensitive throughout but this is ludicrous. But still conscious it's a relatively minor gripe compared to throwing up constantly, I do feel for you Dragon xx

DragonMummy1418 · 17/05/2018 12:03

Hi, how is everyone?

Jennyz123 · 17/05/2018 12:34

All good here thanks Dragon! First day wearing a maternity dress here, soooooooo COMFY! How are you getting on?

DragonMummy1418 · 17/05/2018 14:45

Well I'm on light duties at work which is realllllllly boring. Sickness has started to calm down a bit, not a minute too soon as I've now lost more than 2 stone!
I'm in maternity clothes too, not the most attractive clothes but really comfy!

Jennyz123 · 17/05/2018 15:28

Omg that's horrific! You poor soul. I had pretty constant nausea but wasn't often sick and it seemed to clear up pretty bang on 12 weeks. The maternity stuff isn't hugely glam but I don't care, I'm just so happy not having a waistband digging into me any more! Dorothy Perkins have quite a lot online that isn't expensive, I've got a load from there and just ordered some more! Have you had your scan? Our 12 week one was amazing- baby somersaulting all over the place!

BellaRoseP · 28/05/2018 14:48

Hello everyone, I have just joined mumsnet and found this convo. We're expecting our first on Nov 18th (15+1 today), and so so excited! We had a missed miscarriage at 9 weeks just before Christmas so I've been a bit of nervous wreck throughout, it seems so long until the 20 week scan!
Has anyone bought a doppler to relieve anxiety? I'm in the medical profession so I know I probably shouldn't, but can't help feeling that hearing a little heartbeat would stop a lot of the worries...

I hope everyone is doing well and starting to see the back of all the sickness and fatigue :)

MissKx · 28/05/2018 15:41

Heyyy BellaRoseP! Congrats!! You’re literally one day behind me! Your midwife should let you hear the heartbeat at your 16 week appointment depending on the area you’re from, everywhere’s different! You should deffo ask about this 😊

OP posts:
beckybum85 · 29/05/2018 09:15

Hi BellaRoseP,
I am nearly 18 weeks now, I have the occasional worries too but I have a doppler just for fun. Sometimes it is really hard to find the heartbeat this early on so if you use it to relieve anxiety you may end up feeling worse. They always say if a healthy heartbeat has been established that the risk significantly reduces and this really really helped me relax. I'm now patiently waiting to start feeling the baby move although again my midwife said it may not be until 22 weeks as my first actual pregnancy. It's hard to not worry but stay positive xxx

Alanares89 · 29/05/2018 16:48

Hi there!

We have the same due date :) this is also my first and we are both really excited, I’m really saddened to hear about your miscarriage, and I hope you can enjoy this pregnancy!
At our 12 week scan we never got to hear our baby’s heartbeat but they showed us the heart beating which was v emotional! A feeling I could re live all day! Maybe at the 20 week scan we will hear the baby’s heartbeat? Finally starting to see the end off constant nausea and sick and I have a bump!! Do you??
Xx
