Anyone else due in November? Only 5 weeks along with first, super nervous, super excited! Rung GP but they just seem to have left me to it? Is this normal? They just asked my last period and they’d send a letter out... what happens now? What symptoms is everyone feeling at this stage? Any advice?

Hi Jenny,
We actually have midwives separate to the hospital here in Kent so much easier to get in touch! They usually at your booking appointment book you for both the 12 and 20 week scans but if they are late booking you then they should make it pretty speedy!

I think the private scan is a great thing for you, there is nothing like it seeing them and at our early scan at 7 weeks they dated and measured so confident youll get that this weekend.

So i started bleeding again today but no pain and not heavy at all. Dr has signed me off for 2 weeks saying i need to rest and focys on me, I'm a social worker by day! So that's me taking it easy. Still reassured by the scan yesterday and the dr didnt seem to have any concerns today about the bleed. It was an internal exam so im thinking that may have loosened something!

Sending best wishes to everyone and thinking of you Edin xx

Hi Becky, wow separate midwives does sound better - I had to phone five different numbers to try and find someone who could help! I totally get how busy everyone is and it is absolutely as it should be that I am bottom of the priority list as things seem to be going relatively smoothly (frantic wood touching). But hopefully I'll know more from Sat, your early scan sounds great - just what I'm looking for. I feel so much better for booking it, it really feels like it's lifted the pressure. Rubbish about more bleeding today but good that it doesn't seem too bad, hopefully it's just a reaction to the exam. Good grief, I can't imagine being a social worker and going through all this - sounds like some time to put your feet up and take it easy is just what's needed!

Jennyz123 · 10/04/2018 19:08

The midwife called today! Hallefrickinlujah. Got an appt on Thurs. How's everyone holding up?

beckybum85 · 10/04/2018 21:06

Hi Jenny!
Amazing news! How did your scan go as well?
I have continued to have spotting every few days but very light, but google can actually be useful as its indicated that its very normal and that it may be linked to the placenta taking over. Noticing a real change in my belly now too!! X

Jennyz123 · 10/04/2018 21:36

Hi Becky, thanks so much! Just so relieved that I don't have to worry about chasing again. The scan was a bit of a mixed bag - it didn't help massively with my date confusion as they put me at 7 weeks two days - but when I checked back later that goes back to the weekend I thought we probably conceived! Definitely wouldn't have been the first day of my last period - I thought my last period would have been at least a week before that. But who cares, it was so fabulous to see the little kidney bean and heartbeat that I kind of forgot about it! And things are moving now with the midwife which was my other main worry about not knowing how far along I was. Really interesting and reassuring about the spotting- I will definitely be bearing that in mind if I have a similar situation. Glad things are relatively good at the mo, have you felt better in yourself since taking a break from work?

beckybum85 · 10/04/2018 22:28

Oh wonderful!!! So glad you got to see the bean and hear the heartbeat :) it is wonderful, i get to have my 12 week scan soon but we are away at the moment seeing family so cannot check post haha!
I am so glad i got signed off, i have been exhausted, today being the worst actually but other than that I'm remaining positive and looking forward to the reveal to all our family and friends soon! They say after a strong heartbeat is detected that the risks reduce significantly so happy happy happy all round xx

Jennyz123 · 11/04/2018 06:25

Aw that's brilliant, so glad you're feeling positive. I'm so looking forward to the reveal, bring it on!! My husband is an only child and I think his parents had given up on us having a kiddie. They're going to be beyond excited to be grandparents I think! I know what you mean about the exhaustion - I was sleeping loads when we were off last week and have been falling asleep on the sofa at about 7 30 since being back this week! So rock and roll lol! Xx

beckybum85 · 11/04/2018 09:47

A lot of our family know already as i am terrible at keeping it to myself but only immediate family! I have been really good!
I have 21 nieces and nephews so for my side of the family everyone is excited that finally i am having a baby! My husband has 1 niece but she lives in Austrailia so this is the first grandchild for his parents that they will see regularly! 😍
I am getting more of a handle on the tiredness now, ill be 12 weeks next week so looking forward to the 'new wave' of energy!! Xx

lulupopsted · 11/04/2018 10:59

Hi can anyone help, I am having a bit of a panic :( I am 10+3 and I feel tons better, I don't feel that cloud/weight of tiredness, I feel tired but I can get things done (I don't feel like I am going to cry as I need to go to the shop, and I am so tired I just cant do it etc.). And I don't feel very sick any more :( (I can deal with going in the kitchen and cooking)
I had a MMC last year and my symptoms went over night but I didn't make it to 10 weeks.

My boobs are still sore. Did anyone else feel a bit better at 10 weeks?

I had a early scan at 7 weeks and saw a HB but not sure that means too much tbh.

Jennyz123 · 11/04/2018 12:50

Hi Lulu- I can't really say as I'm not so far along so am still very much in the feeling rubbish phase! But from what I've read things seem to look up after the 12 week ish mark and you're not too far off that, so hopefully you're just past the worst of it! I think everyone probably reacts differently so some people probably start feeling better before 12 weeks, some after. Some of the other ladies on here might have a similar experience to yours, or maybe it would be worth putting out a new post as then you wouldn't just be restricting yourself to people due in Nov 18 - there might be loads of people who've already had their babies but remember their symptoms stopping before 12 weeks? Fingers crossed for you xx

DragonMummy1418 · 11/04/2018 14:12

Hi Edin, I hope things are ok! Sorry to read your last post!

Hi Lulu, hope your ok too! I wouldn't worry about it too much yet. You might feel lousy again tomorrow! 🙈 I find it comes and goes is waves.

Glad you finally got your appointment through Jenny!

Hi everyone else!

I got my 12 week scan through for the end of the month. Still feeling pretty rough, still off work sick. They're meant to be sorting me out some light duties but they're being really slow about it.

beckybum85 · 11/04/2018 15:15

Hi Lulu,
The majority of my symptoms went a week or so ago and sent me into panic but all is ok with me! My boobs aren't even sore anymore either and i get a little tired but that's all. Had to have a scan for other reasons at 10 weeks last week and still a good healthy heartbeat. NHS info states after a heartbeat is established and the baby is at the size expected for how far a long you are that the risk of mc reduces to like 5% so fingers crossed for you this time 😁 xx

MissKx · 11/04/2018 18:30

Heyyy everyone! Yayyy Jenny FINALLY 😂 had my booking in appointment today! Info overload, in there almost 2 hours 😩 I’ve been poked and prodded all morning!

Jennyz123 · 11/04/2018 19:40

Haha I know right!!! I've got mine tomorrow, what is going to happen to me?! Share all!

Jennyz123 · 11/04/2018 19:43

Also, either you are all going to thank me or I have gone completely mad (it's possibly the second one). I am not a big drinker AT ALL but ever since getting pregnant I have been dying for a drink! It is totally the wanting what you can't have thing. It wasn't helped when we went on holiday the week before last and spent every night in lovely pubs with crackling fires and everyone around us sharing a bottle of wine, sigh... But tonight, I had the GENIUS/completely insane idea of putting some Ribena in tonic water and I swear it was just like a sloe gin and tonic (kind of)! Guess what I'm going to be slugging for the next 8 months plus...

beckybum85 · 11/04/2018 20:20

Biggest shock and horror of booking for me.. 'can we take some blood'.. :(
I do not like needles and then the midwife was like well you need this jab and this jab.. I wished i liked alcohol to get me through all these jabs, have to settle for chocolate!!! Xx

Jennyz123 · 11/04/2018 20:35

WHAT?! Aw man! Did not know I was signing up for multiple jabs! I wouldn't say I have a thing about needles but I'm certainly not a fan....

DragonMummy1418 · 11/04/2018 20:38

I used to freak out at needles before DS, but the amount I had when pregnant just got me used to it 🙈

I didn't have bloods done at my Booking appointment because I'm going to a hospital in a different area so I have to have another appointment at the hospital for it!

They will want a urine sample. Other than that it's mainly medical family history and your partners medical family history.

Jennyz123 · 11/04/2018 21:03

Think I can manage that- although not sure I know a huge amount about family medical history! Should be able to give the headlines though.

MissKx · 11/04/2018 21:09

I freak out at having my bloods done she literally had to pin me down 😂 she took so much as well then I went all dizzy and she was like please don’t faint on me 😂😂 but she was super quick and gentle which helped massively! Urine sample that was fine just had ketones from not eating anything this morning (appetite has gone massively some days spesh with feeling sick) family history and lots of info, filled out forms for medical exemption and dental exemption, free vitamins and folic acid she gave me, free flu jab in September and Whooping cough jab at 20 weeks, carbon minoxide test and just bits of info, it’s mainly family history and mental health making sure you’re okay in yourself and that’s all for another 8 weeks (scan inbetween) also I’ve had an under active throyid since birth so I’ll get an extra scan and also have to see a consult for extra bloods etc

OP posts:
MissKx · 11/04/2018 21:14

Oh and now all my maternity notes are online I have to log in and I can literally stalk myself, every time I see a consultant or midwife I can see what’s been wrote about me it’s great 😂😂 so when my blood results come back etc I just log on and see what’s happening

OP posts:
DragonMummy1418 · 12/04/2018 07:45

MissK wow! I wish we could do that!!!

Newdad82 · 12/04/2018 09:29

We’ve had our first midwife app a couple of weeks ago and an approx date of Nov 4th ! :)

My wife wasn’t expecting any bloods taken, so that was a surprise! All good though and hopefully be able to let out my excitement a little after 1st scan on the 24th April ! Cant wait!!

Jennyz123 · 12/04/2018 14:21

Wow MissK that is fancy! Congratulations Newdad; I'm glad the peeps on here warned me about the bloods yesterday as I was able to gracefully proffer an arm rather than passing out in panic 😁 hope your other half was ok with the shock! All went well at our appointment this morning, just so relieved things are finally starting to happen! Can't wait to let some excitement out at the 12 week mark same as you newdad!

Newdad82 · 12/04/2018 15:07

Glad everything went well Jenny!
She was ok with getting the blood taken! But prob would have worried if she knew beforehand! Lol

Only downside (i know this sounds silly) but the midwife turned up in full nurses uniform and stood outside on the phone for a few mins, So our nosey neighbours had a good view. Obvs at this time we’ve tried to keep things quiet.
Coyldnt fault her though, she was lovely and made us feel really at ease
