Hey Daisyboo. So sorry to hear about the infection and now tenderness of your wound.
But it seems altogether you are recovering fast
and have a great time with your expanded family... It's a pity they don't do a tummy tug at the same time. I bet you the elective CS rate would shot up, if they'd offer it.., :-)

hotchoc · 20/06/2007 18:03

hello - i know i have not posted for ages but i am (trying) to keep up with you all still, i have had brilliant news today, my mum has been told her scan was clear, the cancer has gone. mumpbump, keeping everything crossed for you, how is your mum?

had fasting glucose done at the weekend and all is fine there too.

congratulations to you Daisy, how's it going?

love and relief

hotchoc

ps mrsmcjnr, i think if there are high results from the afp tests and you do not want an amnio you are offered a 20 week scan up here to check the heart chambers, happened to a pal of mine who now has a healthy wee girl.

daisyboo · 20/06/2007 18:31

lol glimmer...I did actually ask the ob that very question....he said not a bad idea, but you don't want on ob doing it!

hotchoc, that's great news about your mum. she'll be getting regular follow up now won't she. My mum isn't doing that great at the moment. She was diagnosed with lung cancer in Feb 06 after surviving non-hodgkin's lymphoma. She's been ok so far, but is now starting to go downhill and has been given anti-depressants. DH is going up to Scotland at the weekend to bring her down for a few days, hopefully it'll perk her up to see her new granddaughter!

who is calling me......better go

Juicylucytoo · 20/06/2007 18:45

Just to let you know I've finally managed it!

Birth announcement

daisyboo · 20/06/2007 19:05

juicy....he's a little treasure, so cute. hope you are well and recovering from your c-section without too much trouble. how is he doing with feeding etc? and how are you and dh adjusting to finally being a family?

BellaBear · 20/06/2007 19:12

Hi, have hardly posted here (it dropped out of my recent posts!) because I've been feeling crap - reaaaaallllly tired and sick (but not throwing up), and I came home early from school today. Also suspect I may have thrush - does anyone know what to do about that? Don't want to go to GP if I can avoid it as went on Monday and it involves waiting for appt, booking time off school etc etc. I had my first headache since finding out, and survived without painkillers (not sucha bad headache) but am I allowed paracetamol?

Just reread that and it sounds miserable! Will try to cheer up (am happy, honest!) and will also try to catch up a bit!

Congrats Juicylucy!

Oh and GP confirmed EDD as 6th Feb!

daisyboo · 20/06/2007 19:22

Bella...paracetomol is perfectly OK as it doesn't cross the placenta, and you can use canesten cream for the thrush. Ask at the pharmacy, but I don't think you can use the pessary when pg. You could always try natural yogurt, and avoid sugary and yeasty things to help alleviate symptoms!

daisyboo · 20/06/2007 19:22

and i hope you're feeling better soon!

BellaBear · 20/06/2007 19:31

thanks xx

ejt1764 · 20/06/2007 20:23

just popped in to say hi!

bella - you poor thing with headache & thrush - the forehead stuff is good for headaches - and you can use it when pg. Same goes for paracetemol.

hotchoc - fab news about your mum - I'm soooooo pleased for you! came over all teary (now there's a surprise!)

juicylucy - congratulations!

hotchoc · 20/06/2007 21:09

daisy, sorry to hear your mum is having a difficult time, it is in the back of your mind all the time isn't it. it was lung cancer my mum had too. i am sure you little bundle will cheer her up when they meet. thinking of you hotchoc x x

Juicylucytoo · 21/06/2007 00:07

Daisy - Feeding is ok. Having trouble with painful nipples, but he's certainly hungry enough and feeds through the night if he can then sleeps all day!!

C section recovery is ok, just a shame I couldn't give birth naturally. Both DH and me knackered, but coping.

Make sure you get lots of sleep in the last couple of weeks girls, you will forget what it is after the birth!!

Hope everyone is doing well.x

PurpleLostPrincess · 21/06/2007 09:14

Hello ladies,

Congratulations Juicylucy on your lovely little bundle!

So pleased for you hotchoc on the positive news about your mum.

Daisyboo, thinking of you and your family, esp your mum.

ejt, thanks for the advice about the pillows, I think it's working a bit as I have a similar set up. I'm still waking up every couple of hours or so and the kids have been up in the night with a bug recently but they're getting a bit better now so I'm hoping to get some solid sleep soon!

firstar, I'm sure you'll be a fantastic mum, you are obviously a very loving and caring person! When I had DS, I remember the mw giving me a big book (birth to 5yrs) and reminding me that baby hasn't read it so don't panic if he doesn't do exactly what it says lol!

We're starting to work on the nursery this weekend and I've got a moses basket and lots of other bits and pieces now. Can't believe this is really happening!! Only 1 week left at work now and I can't wait to concentrate on getting ready properly!

Hello to everybody else ((waves))

Take care, PLP (26+5) xx

VictorVictoria · 21/06/2007 09:20

Just had a thought - we're getting close to 1000 posts - any ideas for a new name?

I was thinking: "pg after m/c, true hand-holding and support found here!" or something like that anyway...

((waves at firststar!!))

becklespeckledfrog · 21/06/2007 11:05

Plummy - hope your DS had a lovely birthday ? time really does fly. My eldest was 7 on Sunday! TBH it doesn?t really feel like 5 mins since I found out I was expecting him, scary stuff!
Mumpbump - trust me, my DH is not usually proactive around the house at all! The housework is always down to me, I think he is just feeling a bit sorry for me at the moment ? either that or the way I went from normal to howling in a split second scared him a bit!
Firststar - 5 weeks left! (27 weeks left here ). I would not worry about what medics say about baby size, in my experience they don?t really have much clue! They told me DS1 would be a 7 ½ lb baby ? he was just over 9! I carry loads of water while pg too and it does make for a big big bump. Anyway, I found that it?s the size of baby?s head that is important when it comes to birth, DS2 was a bigger baby but his head circumference was smaller than DS1 so he was much easier to give birth too (oh, and had obviously all stretched before too).
Glimmer - IKWYM about tiredness, I am exhausted at the mo! Don?t think I am as far along as you (13 weeks today) but although the sickness has subsided and I just have the nasty taste left (still not managing all foods yet either) I am sooooo tired. Reckon tadpole must be up to something important? Glad you have found a nice MW and lucky you to have hospital so close! If I was closer then I would consider a homebirth but my hospital is 20 minutes away. Also the MWs I see now will probably not be the ones who deliver my baby ? had a lovely one deliver DS2, she was there from start to finish (with DS1 I had 3 different ones through the day) and she was just brilliant ? I hope she will be there when I have this one too.
Daisy - well done for getting out and getting the school run done! You sound like you are settling in well and that Emily is a good baby! Hope your scar is settling down, a CS is quite a traumatic thing for the body to go through! Sorry to hear about your Mum, cancer is so hard for everyone to deal with. Hopefully her new little granddaughter will lift her spirits a bit.
Hotchoc - fantastic news about your Mum! So so pleased for you! Glad your glucose tests were good too, nice to get a lot of good news together!
JuicyLucy - well done you! What a gorgeous little boy and a lovely name too. Don?t be hard on yourself about not having a ?natural? birth, you did what was best for your son and that is what being a mother is about, so glad he is okay! Nipples will get better, takes a little while though. I found Camillosan very good for soothing them and also rubbing a bit of your milk into them will help them.
Bellabear - Thrush is very common in pg and I had it badly early on ? the trick is to catch it before it gets unbearable! Canesten cream is great for the outside but you will need to treat the infection on the inside also. You can use a pessary while pg (I was prescribed one but you can buy it over the counter) but you have to be very careful with the applicator and make sure you don?t put it too far up (sorry if TMI). Pessary didn?t work for me and I was given a course of Nystatin cream which I had to put up there for 14 days (urgh) and that did work but I had to have it prescribed by the doctor. Was also given lots of other advice, apparently a clove of garlic coated in Tea Tree Oil is supposed to be good! (didn?t try that one as didn?t fancy having to explain to A&E what I was doing with garlic up my hoohaa if it got stuck!)
PurpleLostPrincess - you are getting close too! Are you taking maternity leave early? I think I probably will from my evening job, I am finding it very tiring! I can?t wait to start buying stuff for baby, I will probably hold off until after 20 week scan. That sounds like a nice thread name to me, this thread has really pulled me through my tough times, definitely feel like you are all holding my hand!
VV - Sooooo pleased for you, you must be so relieved!
Hi to anyone I have missed

Well the last 2 mornings my bladder has not felt so squashed so I am hoping that means baby has moved up now! Also, in the evenings my tum really pops out now! Am starting to feel like this pregnancy might actually be successful now and am just hoping the MW will agree to try and find HB next week (and find it too obviously) so I can relax a little and start to bond with my baby. Have bought some smocky type tops today (which I prob won?t wear til after have seen MW - still scared of jinxing it) as my own tops are struggling to contain my new boobs and cover my belly!

Mumpbump · 21/06/2007 11:37

Morning all!

Hotchoc - that's excellent news. So pleased for you!!! They say my mum is responsing very positively to the chemo so hopefully she will be alright.

Bella - sorry to hear that you're rotten, but I am sure it's all those pg hormones which is a good sign! I second the suggestion of paracetamol for headaches - have no experience of the stick thing, but a lot of people seem to recommend them.

VV - congratulations on your positive scan result! What a relief! When will your next scan be?

Glimmer - glad you like your IM. Sounds like a really good idea to go for this option and I think a homebirth is entirely doable if you're that close to the hospital. This is my argument for homebirth too - we're 5 minutes drive away - but dh wants the comfort of knowing that everything is on hand if anything does go wrong, so I will probably wind up with a hospital birth again...

Princess - I agree with Beckle that the idea of hand holding is nice so will go with your suggestion very happily! What a democratic lot we are, hey? Very jealous that you're starting your maternity leave so soon! Hope you enjoy the calm before the storm!!

Daisy - good news that you're feeling a bit better, but sorry that your mum isn't doing so well. As everyone else has said, I am sure seeing her new granddaughter will cheer her up a lot. I have been watching the success after m/c thread for a while and it doesn't seem very active - guess that might change if people start moving from here to there!

Firststar - are you going to be able to keep up with this thread once you finish work? I find that when I'm at home, there is too much to do (with 3 children knocking around at the weekend!) to spend any time on the computer. Also remember may last couple of weeks before ds' arrival being jam-packed with decorating although you sound way more prepared than we were...

The internet connection on my computer at home seems to be shot at the moment, so will have to get that fixed before I start maternity leave otherwise I won't be able to follow what's going on with everyone...

VictorVictoria · 21/06/2007 11:39

Thank you all for supportive words. I am so impressed with those on these threads who takde the time to single out everyone individually. Can you all please take it as read that I am following each and every one of your stories and sending waves of encouragement etc. Just dopn't often have time to post!

Next scan nuchal at 12 weeks dead. Offered one at 10 but don't think there is much point unless I bleed or something.

lissie · 21/06/2007 11:40

can i dip my toe in please?

By lissie on Thu 21-Jun-07 10:30:34
well.....

doc has confirmed that i am indeed pg at 9dpo! he said that 3 tests cant all be wrong and my stomach is nice and soft (apparently they can tell the difference between fat and soft) so i am due on 7th march. keep them crossed for me!!

ejt1764 · 21/06/2007 11:49

oh lissie ... have come over all emotional on your behalf .... congratulations on your bfp - here's hoping for a long, boring and uneventful pg for you!

ejt1764 · 21/06/2007 11:50

waves frantically at everybody else!

Mumpbump · 21/06/2007 12:00

Wow, lissie, congratulations!
Fingers crossed for you that it all works out this time with no more dramas...

lissie · 21/06/2007 12:07
