LOL, that should have said knicker checking, but I suppose in the early days there's a lot of checking of knockers too, to see if they're still sore

The thread title thing was a bit heated to say the least, but it's all blown over now and we'll try to be a bit more sensitive in future. We do have some thoughts for nearer our dates, but they're more rude than anything so hopefully wont upset anyone (offend their sensibilities maybe, but not upset). We thought we were just being funny, but you forget on here that what you've said is there for all to see

mrshopeful · 04/05/2007 16:13

thanks for the friendly responses everyone, and yes I am knicker and knocker checking every day, have already had to stop wearing my push up bra cos it hurts to push em up!
it's great to hear happy stories from so many of you, fingers crossed for all

becklespeckle · 04/05/2007 16:23

LOL at Knocker Checking Daisybump!!! I certainly do that too! Like the new thread name - I too saw the June thread title and thought it was quite funny! You can't please all the people all the time though.
PurpleLostPrincess Yay! for your scan going well! Another girl too! Hope you had a lovely lunch with your friend too!
Hi Hotchoc, how far along are you now? I hate waiting for a scan, the days really seem to drag. Got my early one next Weds and am really worried they won't see anything or that it will all be over. At least for me it breaks the 'worry' time up a bit though, will get another at 12 weeks too and then can relax a little.
Mumpbump, your Mum sounds like an amazing woman, I'm glad she's coping well, how about you? Glad your Au Pair putting in a bit more effort, must be quite stressful! Hope you enjoy your swanky dinner this weekend too, any other plans? Got none here as DH is working Sat and Sun, not sure his plans on Mon - probably washing the car knowing him!
MrsHopeful, I have never had an implantation bleed and have been pg 5 times now, as others have said, try not to worry as each pg is different. (oh and congratulations! )
Furrymummy LOL at your Crack Bread! I too read it as it was meant to be until you pointed it out (but it did make me giggle!). I too am hungry at bedtime, it gets to about 10.30 and I need to eat something. Last night I ate early and woke up early feeling starving too.
Congratulations too to you Nanoon, sorry to hear about your m/c last year. I have had 2 missed ones now and the last one was quite early - it makes it very hard not to worry. I would definitely kick off if you have any bleeding or anything (fingers crossed you won't), my MW last year told me to exaggerate when phoning the EPU to make sure I was seen!
Hi to Firststar, ejb, Glimmer and everyone else, hope you all have a lovely weekend!

Daisybump · 04/05/2007 16:41

Cheers Beckles...I couldn't figure out whether my boobs were sore because they were genuinely sore, or whether it was because I kept prodding them every 5 minutes to see whether they were sore

Mumpbump · 04/05/2007 17:02

Right - I'm off shortly, so have a fab weekend all!! Goodness knows how I will catch up on all the posts after a long weekend - it's hard enough after a normal weekend...

ejt1764 · 04/05/2007 17:12

Just checking in to say hi!!

Mrshopeful and Nanoon - welcome - hope your stay here is long and uneventful!

I've obviously missed some drama with thread names - and I went to bed early so missed panorama - so am a bit out of the loop - am now going to find out the gossip ....

See you all later!

fettleandminifettle · 04/05/2007 18:52

Hello all

A shiny new thread, but already so many posts! - I've been away for a few days with work, so have I missed anything?

Hello to everyone new - welcome to the knicker-watchers anonymous club - still at it everytime I go to the loo at nearly 19 weeks!!

Hope you all have a great weekend

Take care all
xxx

becklespeckle · 04/05/2007 20:15

Hehe Daisy! Have just ordered some bigger bras for myself - am sure squashing them into my usual tiny size is making them more sore! DH thinks they are hilarious already and keeps taking the mickey...

Furrymummy · 04/05/2007 22:08

Purple - congrats on successful scan!
Got home and hand lots of crackerbread and pate and it was lush!
Ooh I have news - rang the Midwife, got a scan booked for week on Tuesday, I'll be about 9 weeks then. Feeling excited but very very nervous, it's the day before we go on holiday!
Hope everyone enjoys their weekend, have took some work home with me, hopefully won't take too long!

Uki · 05/05/2007 04:46

Oh love the new thread. Well done daisy. You must nearly be counting down days not weeks now?

Welcome Nanoon, Hope time flys till your scan, can you have one at about 8/9 weeks. This helped me alot and baby has good chance if hb detected then.

Purple big CONGRAT'S on the scans, fantastic news, Do you have one or two dc already?

Firstar- how are you? You must be getting anxious/excited now?

All going well here. i have been buying a few things and getting organised, although still not third trimester yet? Had some great buys on ebay maternity jeans, designer baby clothes hardly worn. I can't believe how much some things can cost new. I'm trying to be a compacter so doing two favours in one, one for environment, one for my pocket

Good luck with sumkata mantra, it works really well if you have time to do yoga too, do it in the meditation bit.

Furrymummy · 05/05/2007 08:14

Been looking for clothes, need some maternity trousers because my shape has gone wierd already! Stomach is mainly flabby and horrid but clothes not fitting properly! Okay with skirts but having trouble with trousers being too tight around tum!

becklespeckle · 05/05/2007 15:30

Hi Everyone, hope you are all okay! I wanted some advice about thrush (sorry if this is TMI), tried a pessary (on GP and MW instruction) last week, didn't work - just made it worse. Have now been prescribed an internal cream which I have to put up every night for 14 nights! Yuk. I know I need to clear up the thrush, especially as the MW suggested that it may have irritated my cervix and caused the bleed I had last week, but bit worried about it TBH (and don't fancy the garlic route - how do you explain that if it gets stuck?!). Also have checked it out online and there is no danger in pg at all, you just have to be careful with the applicator.

becklespeckle · 05/05/2007 15:33

sorry for the yukky post

PurpleLostPrincess · 05/05/2007 16:13

Hi beckle! I had the same problem when I was having DD and it was awful so I really feel for you. I remember using internal cream and it took a while to work so I'm afraid you might have a bit of a wait for it to clear up. So sorry I can't offer any alternatives, hope somebody comes along who can!?

Uki - yes I've got DS (13 last week!!!) and DD who is nearly 9. I get frustrated because I sailed through my pg's with them (with minor ailments and complicated births) but this one has been a rollercoaster! I'm quite sure that because I've had the m/c's before, it has somewhat prevented me from enjoying this pg as much but I'm determined to get as much enjoyment as I can out of it - hopefully!

Furrymummy, hope you find something nice to wear. Have you tried ebay yet (I think its been suggested before so sorry to repeat!). Also, glad you've got a date for your scan.

Have a good weekend all!

PLP xoxo

Furrymummy · 05/05/2007 16:30

I won a pair of maternity jeans and a denim pinafore dress! Am very pleased
Beckle - no such thing as TMI around here.... hope the thrush clears up. Pregnancy was never meant to be easy... obviously invented by a man

Daisybump · 05/05/2007 18:13

Can you not take the tablets then when pregnant? I remember using the cream years ago and it taking ages to work.

Natural bio yoghurt is supposed to be good....as the friendly bacteria kill off the thrush...bit messy and squishy though!!

Hi Uki ...not 'seen' you about for a bit. hope all is goiing well....and it's five weeks tomorrow till my due date, but they think I'll probably go before then...gettinga bit fed up wth all the aches and pains (heartburn is reall very bad, worse than with DS and that was bad enough) and also with my lack of physical ability, but then again....it's great that I've got this far, so I shouldn't complain really.

Purple..I know how you feel. As well as the journey to this pg being horrible and a lot of work and upset, I've been on an emotional rollercoaster and not enjoyed it at all, apart from a period of about four weeks between mad hormones settling down and the tiredness and heartburn kicking in. With DS I sailed through it woth only a few minor discomforts....but then again I was a good five youear younger so that may have something to do with it? Into the home stretch though and the weeks are flying by!!

Uki · 06/05/2007 01:14

Daisy- maybe not quite days, but soon eh, ds must be getting excited?

Purple- your dc should be a big help, how lovely for them to have baby sibling. I also find pg hard to enjoy now, although at least I am healthy at the moment

Furry- I like your comment about pg being invented by a man, my mum's fav is

"If men had to have babies there wouldn't be any"

Furrymummy · 06/05/2007 11:26

Funny, UKI, my mum said the other one about men having babies!! lol

Daisybump · 06/05/2007 15:50

My mum always said that if men had to have the babies they'd all stop at one....although I think DH is a bit jealous of feeling the movements. This LO was stopping kicking etc whnever he touched me....now if he tries to cuddle me, he gets a kick for his troubles

OP posts:
PurpleLostPrincess · 06/05/2007 18:28

I know its not really related but I thought this might give you all a chuckle whilst considering men having babies!

DH has got a bit of a beer gut (he looks about 8 months pg!) and also suffers from IBS bless him! The other day, he stood up and held his tummy as he was in pain and DS (aged 13 now) shouted out "watch out everybody, his waters have broken!". It was hilarious and we all couldn't stop laughing!

Daisybump · 06/05/2007 18:50

LOL Purple....

OP posts:
Daisybump · 06/05/2007 18:52

Uki...my poor DS can't contain his excitement, but its his birthday on 25 May and he's ordered the baby (through what's left of my belly button) not to arrive before then He said he's going to help me do the feeding and bathing and cuddling!

OP posts:
Uki · 07/05/2007 00:39

Oh Daisy, that is soo cute of ds.

I have the other problem, I'm worried my ds will be jealous, but he is much more attatched to daddy than me at the moment, calls out to dad in the middle of the night, only wants daddy to carry him. So he will probably only get jealous if dh is holding the new baby!!!
Friends say I have him well trained !

Purple -I think dh needs a diet LOL about dc.

men defiantely get the easy side of pg don't they. I'm already getting scared of labour as Ob is threatening to induce me, if i get pre-eclampsia again. i don't want to be induced again, so painful and long, but also have no idea what to expect if i have natural labour either???

Furrymummy · 07/05/2007 10:57

ROFL @ Purple's DS.

I have a colleague at work who has a massive beer gut, the joke is around site is that he'll still be bigger than me even when I'm about to pop! And I've got a bit of a gut.
Bust seriously we shouldn't laugh, it's the most dangerous form of excess weight to have, all my family are the same with fat stored around the belly, means we have a greater risk of heart disease. However happy to report we are still fairly long lived family! But very determined to lose weight after baby is born...

Uki · 07/05/2007 13:11

Furry- I'm determined to lose weight after this pg too, I can't believe how bad my cellulite is right now. The aftermarth of pg is not going to be pretty on me, different stretch marks to ds's ones, cellulite and flabby tummy and boobs. How do those celebs do it?
