Uki, you poor thing! I've recently had to play the nurse role as both DD and DS had a severe sickness bug. It's hard to take care of them and keep your distance at the same time but I managed to get away with it somehow!Hope they get better soon, don't they just break your heart when they get upset!?

I hadn't realised it was in order tbh, I could get all competitive but I'm too pleased for you lol!

I'm impressed your still up, I've just slept about 10 hours interrupted= of course, but still divine.

I have a sick ds and dh with the flu, poor them, ds does the most pitiful cry where his lip sticks out and he makes a bub, bub, bub sound, oh it nearly breaks me.

I think we need a nice positive title for new thread "getting there together" or something, my present antenatal one is a little neagative, not that it should matter, but makes me think of all my aliaments to much!!!!

Yup - that's pretty much it! I remember when ds was born and I was in the hospital overnight waking up and just peering into the cot to check that he was there and still breathing! As I said to Firststar, in some ways, it helps to work because you are not in a position to compare your child's development with others, but then sometimes I miss all the child-related chat... Doing an antenatal class, like the NCT, and having other mothers around after the birth is very, very worthwhile...

Mump -- I know so well what you mean! The worrying has become less frantic for me but I agree the targets just change: first you are worried that he/she lives, then that he/she is healthy, then that he/she will be born healthy.
Have no kids but I assume it just goes on afterwards? It's so good to share these feelings with other women here, because RL friends don't understand at all what I am going through. I only share a little bit, but they already think I am completely ga-ga...

Glimmer - I was really nervous about the 22 week scan. I think after having had a m/c, it's difficult to believe that you are actually going to have a normal, problem free pg. Now that I know everything is okay with bubba, I am now worrying about the birth, whether it will still be in breach, etc. I KNOW it is completely irrational as there is no reason to think that the birth will be anything other than uncomplicated, but I think I'm just waiting for something to go wrong, iykwim. Bet your dh is blown away by the scan...

I have already had two scan s so I am a worrier by nature.. I had one a 5+3 weeks and sca was there and then one at 7+3 weeks and saw the heartbeat.. so having a scan at 10 weeks sounds like a fab idea but I will continue to worry so I am going to just sit tight!!!

Mumpbump my scan will be on Wedneday. Will go with DH who has never seen alive LO on scan IFYWIM. Last week was the first time he heard HB when the midwife checked it. I am quite hopeful that everythign will be fine, so if not the blow will be just the harder... It really is very reassuring to feel movement once in a while. DH jaleous rightly so: he doesn't have to do any of the carrying work either...

Sorry to hear you are having pain. Sounds baby-related to me. I file baby-related pain as welcome, but compared to what some of you (speciallt EJT) have to go through, mine is rather negligible.

I have actually decided against a 10 weeks scan. As I decided againt a 5 week scan (am lucky enough to be able to afford such things) as I am trying (with varied success) to be calmer about all this.

my gp is booking me in for a scan at 6w for reassurance, but i do have an ep in my history. still they should take the time to reassure you...

Maybe we should have virtual passed-the-first/second trimester parties where we eat virtual cake and drink virtual champagne? Sorry, for the silliness...

Bluebell and VV -- yes you can get a private scan at 10 etc week. The upside for me was that I knew everything was fine for the time being, the downside that after 7 days I started worrying again .... But if it is really getting bad, I think the £80 are worth it. (Have no idea where MW buys her shoes, but it was just one of these things that was worth the money for me.) I actually got a freeby at 8 weeks....

my midwife said that today and I think I am going to, I havfe to put my mind at ease and I have my 13 weeks scan booked in for July 16th.. My midwife is a really u healpful to be honest I had to cry my eyes to get a scan at 12/13 weeks I am going on holiday during my 14th week and she said she would be hard pushed to get me one before so I would have to wait until I cam back and I would be 16 weeks! She told me that if I was worried I could pay for a private scan and told me that 'at £80 you probably spend just as much on a pair of new shoes these day'- could have stamped on her foot! I think I am going to have an early scan...it's horrible this limbo.. the thing is I am a really sicky person because I used to be a smoker until I found out I was pg, so I used wake up most morning and feel like I'd eaten an ashtray and felt sick, so maybe I am just immune!

Bluebell I do know EXACTLY how you feel. I am in the same position as you give or take a week (and yes I have had 2 miscarriages). I worry every day about my symptoms and despite the fact that I vomited violently this morning (breakfast is almost always coming up these days) I am now sitting at my desk and worrying that my tits don;t hurt at all at the moment.

The whole thing, quite frankly, is ghastly. It is going to be a tough 3/4 weeks.

could you pay for a 10 week scan?
