I hope everyone suffering from the Horrors of Hyperemesis will find this thread useful as a source of support and information.
There's no TMI on here - can't be by definition - and nobody should feel ashamed of moaning as much as they feel the need to.
MOH's wonderful website is full of useful information on this illness:
sites.google.com/site/pregnancysicknesssos
Another invaluable website is:
www.pregnancysicknesssupport.org.uk
If you need help in obtaining medication, phone them on:
024 7638 2020
Lastly, the NICE guidelines on treatment are useful:
cks.nice.org.uk/nauseavomiting-in-pregnancy
I would like to thank everyone who has given such invaluable support and advice on this and on previous threads.
Remember when you are at your worst, 'This Too Shall Pass'. It really will.
So many women on this thread have thought they couldn't get through this, but they did.

Got my fingers crossed for you bitzy

Still in hospital with baby, he's lost a bit too much weight so having to supplement after each feed and see if his weight improves tomorrow. Poor DD is missing me dreadfully :(
Good news is that the nausea has gone since I stopped taking the oxynorm pain pills so must have been them causing it.

Natsku · 08/02/2018 13:10

Could be dehydration making you feel like that, or then BP.

LostMyBaubles · 08/02/2018 13:30

Nats hope he picks up soon and you're home asap

Didn't think of dehydration, bp came to mind as I'm high risk for pre eclampsia so that came to mind first.

Anatidae · 08/02/2018 14:40

I’d give your Mw a quick call about the blurry vision xx

bitzy12 · 08/02/2018 14:42

Has anyone had a bad reaction to cyclizine been given through an IV? I had this late last night and it I had a bad reaction to it. I've googled it and apparently it can be quite dangerous - just to make anyone aware who might need it in the future. Always have it by injection if you can't keep a tablet down x

Anatidae · 08/02/2018 14:44

Hope it wasn’t a severe reaction.

seizethecuttlefish · 08/02/2018 14:53

Bitzy hope everything's ok? I had a big bleed and ended up in hospital when I was 4/5 weeks and when I had my scan I was completely shocked to hear baby was fine. I bled on and off till 11 weeks. They found an area in my womb that was bleeding. I can't remember what they called it (I was a bit in shock) but it cleared up and I'm 26 weeks now. Thinking of you. It's so scary and no amount of being told not to worry helps.
Natsku hope you sand baby are home soon and you get to give your daughter big hugs.
Batman I felt horrendous last week but not sure if it was a bug of some sort. Feel ok now. Mind you, I'm still off work, so it's not too strenuous being me, at the moment. Hope you're feeling better.
Ana they're super resilient, honest. My 4 yr old has had weeks of beige food and tv and I swear he's loving it. Me not so much. I've started picking plot holes in Fireman Sam and Scooby Doo. I could write a dissertation on flaming FS! Do what you need to do. One day at a time.
Baubles glad it's not just me that happens to. My dr reduced my meds and it took ages (after we agreed he was an idiot and I went back to my previous dose) for me to feel on top of it again.
Hi to everyone else. Last week, I felt like death. This week I feel almost human. I have no idea what my body is up to but I'm going with it. GTT next week SadDreading it. Assuming I can't take my lactolose etc in the morning, need to call and check.

LostMyBaubles · 08/02/2018 15:08

Bitzy I've had reaction to iron via drip in the past when my hb was something like 5-6 2 weeks before delivery where I lost 2.5l of blood

Ana gp checked my bp and urine today and said it was fine but I wasn't suffering like what I have been at night. Will keep eye on it and if it gets worse will have to ring epu as I don't have a local mw- atm all care under hosp

Ohhh I hate the gtt sieze! Good luck! I would think lactulose isn't ok as it's full of sugar

Endora44 · 08/02/2018 15:18

Bitzy thinking of you - hugs- I hope the scan will be fine.

Lost I've been taking ondansetron for three pregs now, and my aunt took it years ago for her HG through 6 pregs. Seriously, if I didn't know about ondansetron, I wouldn't risk the months of HG, I don't think I'd be strong enough to stand it, and the starvation and the deprivation and the unsympathetic GPs and midwives along the way.

Natsku hope you get home soon. So glad the nausea had abated!

I sent my DH to find Epsom salts, so I'm really hoping it will absorb into my skin. Because it's a wonder if I can swallow anything right now. Grin On a positive note, my thyroid issue seems to have normalised on its own.

LucindaE · 08/02/2018 17:39

PC is back! Grin The library will hopefully be spared yet another vist from me when it opens again tommorow!
Bitzy I am so sorry about the bleeding. I do hope you have got or will get a reassuring scan result. Thinking of you.
Baubles Very sensible to drive with a sick bowl to hand, and mints. The not too spicy kebabs must be hard to resist. Great reassurance from Anitidae on Ondansetron. So many women have been on these threads for eight years on a whole cocktail of meds, including Ondansetron and sometimes cyclzine and metoclopramise and lactulose and omprazole too, and there has yet to be a birth defect reported.
Endora A really great piece of advice about taking in magnesium through the skin via epsom salts in the bath. I never knew that, and I do wonder now, what else we take in through our skin!
Anitidae I hope you are feeliing better.
justtheonethen I am sorry you have to come off the sterioids. As that was the consultant who was all for them, I suppose it has to be done. Much sympathy. I do hope that through your not vomiting whike taking them, they have got you out of that neurological vomiting thing that apparently happens, and that this means that there will be less of a relapse. Some people found they were the only thing that worked, and were on them only a short time, and they found that made all the difference, so I hope that is so for you.
Shehz A glitzy Pink Castle awaits you indeed. Everyone I thought of the idea of a shimmering pink castle at the end of the awful Hyperemesis experience because it reminded me of a horrible version of Snakes and Ladders - drink a glass of water, up a ladder, bile run, down a long snake - and at the end of a Snakes and Ladders b oard we had when I was little there was a magical looking pink castle in the clouds.
NaaBATMAN I do hope that it is the stomach bug that is going about, and not a nasty relapse, Certainly, I've heard of twenty week hormonal surges and thirty week ones, but not twenty-six week ones...
Seize From all I have seen of LO's on these threads, they are indeed truly resilient and soon forget all about a period fo comparative negelect.
Natsku I am so glad the nausea has gone. A family room sounds marvellous.
Elephantgrey Great advice.
Waves to Mustang and everyone. Apologies if I've rudely overlooked anyone.

Thank you lucinda.
Will be having my first dose in about half an hour as I do feel pretty rubbish but after an afternoon of picking at fruits lol

Ah yes, I've been sending my dc upstairs to play with their toys etc while 'mummy cleans' I've called them down to watch a movie with them.
Ps been sending them after they have been fed and watered

nailsathome · 08/02/2018 20:04

I hope all is well bitzy

Ive been admitted this evening as ketones were 3+ so I'm on the fluids too. I fainted when they did my cannula Blush

LostMyBaubles · 08/02/2018 20:15

Oh no nails. Hope you start to feel better soon

So I've taken 1 of those tablets. The Dr said to take the cyclizine in between too so if I'm feeling bad later on will take it.

I've managed lamb and cauliflower curry mainly the cauliflower out if, tasted amazing and so far so good

I'm just getting that after taste of sick atm which I hope clears up soon. Just about to have a cup of chai. I've found the cinnamon in it really helps.
Counts towards fluids too

LostMyBaubles · 09/02/2018 09:33

Wanted to come and update you all about the meds

Felt a lot better last night but not 100% but still better than nothing
I can still feel that pre sick taste in mouth but is improvement from the night before.
I didn't take the cyclizine after it as I wanted to see how well it worked.

I managed egg and toast and chai for breakfast which is a plus! So I'm thinking cyclizine for morning and afternoon and then the new one around 7ish and if needs be cyclizine around 9ish

I did suffer with pretty bad heartburn reflux around 2am. I do try and sleep proped up anyway to help prevent this from happening

Hope everyone else is feeling better

Natsku · 09/02/2018 09:59

Glad the medicine is helping lost are you taking anything for the heartburn?

Waiting for an iron infusion for me now and to find out if baby has gained enough weight for us to go home. Finally feel well enough to enjoy the newborn cuddles. Isn't he beautiful?!

Hyperemesis Support
LostMyBaubles · 09/02/2018 10:34

Not on anything for the heartburn. Might pick up some rennie later. Will double check if it's ok

OMG He's beautiful 😍😍😍😍😍
Just reminds us it's all worth it in the end.
Fx he's put on weight

Shehz21 · 09/02/2018 12:13

Awww Nat He is SO adorable! I am sat here gushing praise over his pic to my DH😍
He says congrats!
Really hope he has gained enough weight for you lot to go home and enjoy all the cuddles as a happy family. So glad you are over the nausea as well.

nailsathome · 09/02/2018 12:21

Awwww nat how lovely xx

Anatidae · 09/02/2018 12:58

He’s adorable natsku :)

Let’s hope you can get home soon

Natsku · 09/02/2018 13:36

Rennies are OK to take.

We're going home, have to top up with formula over the weekend and get him weighed on Monday. Got him dressed up in his tie dye clothes Grin

LostMyBaubles · 09/02/2018 13:42

Yay!!! That's fantastic.
Hope you aren't waiting around too long before being discharged

Noticed my ankles have been swelling a little
Socks left marks on them which hasn't happened before

Anatidae · 09/02/2018 13:47

Rennies are fine. Ds is 63.7% rennies, I ate so bloody many when I was pregnant

Shehz21 · 09/02/2018 13:53

Are rennies the same as ranitidine? Sorry if that's a stupid question Blush

I am still taking 300mg ranitidine at 34 weeks and intend to do so till I give birth. The heartburn I suffer from is vileEnvy

Anatidae · 09/02/2018 13:55

No they are different. Rennies are basically chalky stuff to neutralise the acid. Ranitidine reduces production of acid. It’s ok to take them together 👍

Shehz21 · 09/02/2018 14:12

Ohh gotta check for those Rennies then!
Are they both okay to take until birth?
I have weaned off Phenergan finallySad.......
