I hope everyone suffering from the Horrors of Hyperemesis will find this thread useful as a source of support and information.
There's no TMI on here - can't be by definition - and nobody should feel ashamed of moaning as much as they feel the need to.
MOH's wonderful website is full of useful information on this illness:
sites.google.com/site/pregnancysicknesssos
Another invaluable website is:
www.pregnancysicknesssupport.org.uk
If you need help in obtaining medication, phone them on:
024 7638 2020
Lastly, the NICE guidelines on treatment are useful:
cks.nice.org.uk/nauseavomiting-in-pregnancy
I would like to thank everyone who has given such invaluable support and advice on this and on previous threads.
Remember when you are at your worst, 'This Too Shall Pass'. It really will.
So many women on this thread have thought they couldn't get through this, but they did.

I shall have a look! Mw has recommended a specific one and a specific dose so I’ll see what’s what.

I hope this will maybe help me feel a lot better. The exhaustion is flattening me but if I can treat it then that’s ok.

I’ve just looked online at all the results they did in Hospital- every single sample is coagulated or haemolysed 🤦🏻‍♀️ Sigh. They really should have redone them

Morning ladies, I haven't been on here for a while but wondered if any of you can help with coming off meds? I'm on prochlorperazine and cyclizine, I wasn't sick yesterday although felt very sick and I haven't been sick this morning yet. I'm 14+5 now and wondering if it's easing and I can maybe get off the meds, does anyone have any advice on how best to do it? Do I take one without the other or cut down gradually? Any tips greatly appreciated.

Anatidae · 26/02/2018 09:51

Honestly just now I’d stay on them. If you feel sick still when you’re on the meds then you’re likely to relapse. Maybe try again in a month or so?

Natsku · 26/02/2018 09:55

Definitely stay on them until you've been at least two weeks without sickness otherwise you will most likely relapse.

Natsku · 26/02/2018 09:57

Ask at the pharmacy Anatidae the pharmacist directed me to the chewable ones when I explained my problem with the drops, they'll know what works best. Hope you start feeling less tired soon - I am feeling much better since my iron infusions.

butterfly86 · 26/02/2018 09:59

Thanks anatidae and natsku I will continue for a while then, the last thing I want is to go back overs. Hopefully this is the start of feeling semi normal and not just a couple of good days.

hotchocolate86 · 26/02/2018 11:51

I went into the hospital today as my ketosticks at home were showing 2+ this morning. The hospital have sent me home though as apparently I have no ketones. I’m really confused over it.

hotchocolate86 · 26/02/2018 12:49

This is the ketones test I’ve done since getting home. This mornings were darker. Am I misinterpreting them?

I finally made it to the pink castle. Meet Violet. She’s perfect! She arrived Wednesday weighing 5lb 3oz after the longest induction ever. HG went straight away, I didn’t realise how awful I felt even with steroids until I had her.

Sending much love to all.

Just huge congratulations, Violet is beautiful! That was a really long induction!! So pleased the HG has gone.

Hotchocolate that is definitely positive, closer to 2+ I think. How odd?! Only thing I can think is you need to read the strips within a certain time and if they get darker after that it doesn't matter, if that colour is coming up straight away then they are definitely showing positive. Did they give you any help/advice on meds?

Anatidae glad to hear no more bleeds obvious. Hope the iron makes you feel much better.

Anatidae · 26/02/2018 15:02

Oh congratulations justtheone she is perfect 😍 enjoy the newborn cuddles and get eating!

LucindaE · 26/02/2018 15:48

justtheonethen Oh, what a lovely baby. Star Flowers [cuppa] Cake Smile We've missed you. Do call in when you can. Sorry induction was lengthy; they are not fun.
hotchocolate I have heard of ketones conveniently vanishing when there is a shortage of hospital beds before. Do take in a stick with you to A and E if you are still struggling. I know I am asking women on here to be more assertive than I was - do as I say, not as I do.
Anitidae Mother Hen is still concerned about that coffee ground vomit. As some way below, someone on an earlier thread with that was rushed to hopsital with sirens blaring.

Waves to Natsku and bored and everyone. Much sympathy to all.

hotchocolate86 · 26/02/2018 15:51

Congratulations just. I’m so glad your HG has gone.

That colour is coming up almost straight away bored so I don’t think I am reading it outside of the time frame. They just told me to carry on with the meds I’m taking and said I’m doing really well. I had the same thing last Tuesday where I was told my ketones were fine even though my ketostix were reading higher. I ended up back in with 3+ ketones on Wednesday or Thursday.

hotchocolate86 · 26/02/2018 15:55

Oh that could be it lucinda. They did say on the phone that they had someone in the hyperemesis suite and they also have told me they like to book two people in a day so possibly both had arrived by the time I got there.

nailsathome · 26/02/2018 16:05

Just congratulations! Enjoy cuddles

Boredoftryingusernames · 26/02/2018 16:06

That's really awful if that is the reason Hotchocolate, they surely can't lie about what they find?!? I had no doubt you were reading the strips right, I wouldn't expect a completely negative result to change colour to a strong positive with time, but was the only thing I have seen as an issue with urine dipsticks that check for loads of things rather than just ketones.
Are you managing to keep anything down?

hotchocolate86 · 26/02/2018 16:11

I haven’t been sick yet today bored. On average with my tablets I’m being sick 5-7 times a day so much better than it was but I’m only managing to drink about 500ml sparkling water a day and eat a little mash and the odd plain biscuit.

hotchocolate86 · 26/02/2018 16:13

I wonder if perhaps they are busy and dismissing it as being closer to 1+ so therefore I don’t need fluids.

Boredoftryingusernames · 26/02/2018 16:16

Or maybe they are using the dipsticks that check for lots of things and someone is reading them wrong (I've seen a vet nurse hold them upside down do everything is in the wrong order.....). It's so hard to say anything/question them when you feel so crap....

Boredoftryingusernames · 26/02/2018 16:18

Probably, but they should still say you have ketones, just not enough to warrant fluids (in their opinion!). Glad you are at least keeping some fluids down, and where would we be without mash potato! Hope the lack of vomiting continues....

hotchocolate86 · 26/02/2018 16:20

Oh that’s possible bored. I did tell the nurse I’d checked at home and I was getting ketones show up but she just sort of shrugged her shoulders and said well there aren’t any now or something along those lines. I was a bit annoyed but didn’t see there was much I could do about it really.

Boredoftryingusernames · 26/02/2018 16:37

I can see that they could have gone between two samples, but not come back by the time you got home! Should of testing the sample yourself before giving it to them at the hospital and showing them, or asking to see the dipstick after they have tested I'm not sure what else you could do either! It really shouldn't be that they are misreading the strips, but that would seem better in some ways than them lying!!

Natsku · 26/02/2018 17:15

Congrats just she is beautiful!

Foodylicious · 26/02/2018 17:44

Just a thought hotchoc but can you collect your wee when you check it, then if it is really positive for ketones you can take that sample in with you and maybe the stick or a photo of it too?

hotchocolate86 · 26/02/2018 18:15

That’s a good idea foody. I will see if I can get a spare sample pot at my booking appointment with the midwives tomorrow. At least then I’ll know they are testing the same sample as me.
