Does anyone know if we can use any decongestant in pregnancy I have a horrible cold and waking up so much in the night with a blocked nose it's driving me insane 😤😤, I feel so tired, I know we can't use nasal sprays or vick but anyone know anything else which is safe? I need something I'm loosing my mind I hate having a cold 😷😫

Helen290 · 06/02/2018 09:16

@PinkyPromise77 feeling like crap lol feeling nauseas most of the day was sick this morning now I have a cold and nasty cough and not sleeping due to a blocked nose so feeling exhausted, I a foul mood also lol, so feeling extra lousy and sorry for myself lol 😂 😷😫

Helen290 · 06/02/2018 09:16

I am in a foul mood that was meant to say lol

PinkyPromise77 · 06/02/2018 09:25

Oh @Helen so sorry to hear my lovely!

As for the cold the saline-only decongestants are considered safe during pregnancy and I think Sudafed as well.

I found this online list... hope this helps x

@PinkyPromise77 thank you planning on popping to boots after work and speaking to the pharmacist, I don't want another bad night 😫

samanthajonespr · 06/02/2018 10:28

I'll be 7 weeks tomorrow, having a scan at 9:30 am. Absolutely terrified and can't imagine any other outcome than them not being able to find a heartbeat. Anxiety coupled with the traumatic miscarriage last year is really making me panic!! The first 12 weeks are absolute hell, I'm not doing it again.

Kiztok · 06/02/2018 10:28

@Helen290 unfortunately it's a massive no to decongestants
I have sinus issues and took them daily but since being pregnant I'm not allowed, they can cause deformities apparently x

PinkyPromise77 · 06/02/2018 10:36

Good luck with the scan samanthajonespr, let us know how you get on x

I had my scan at 6w + 4 and they put me at 7w and we were able to see the heartbeat so keeping everything crossed you will be able to see it too! xXx

Thank you @PinkyPromise77
So bloody nervous xx

Ktn35 · 06/02/2018 11:27

@Samanthajones I feel the same and have my scan next week. I am currently obsessed with whether or not my boobs still hurt! I'm sure you will be fine. I keep telling myself that the chances really are in our favour. Let us know how you get on 😊

SC126 · 06/02/2018 12:08

So work is dragging today I can't cope 🙈 I feel so nauseous and I'm constantly exhausted despite sleeping fine last night.

Ktn35 · 06/02/2018 12:29

I got into work, threw up, and came home today Confused now lying on the sofa watching daytime TV and abusing google! I need a couple of days to get my head around managing this sickness which is new to me his week. Any tips from people on what to eat? Finding the ginger nuts good bit really don't want to get into the habit of eating hundreds of biscuits a day!

samanthajonespr · 06/02/2018 13:15

@Ktn35 7up Free helped me when I had morning sickness with my son and it's helping now as well, even though my nausea is only mild. Something about the bubbles, maybe

PinkyPromise77 · 06/02/2018 14:06

@Ktn75 for me it's sparkling water... and unfortunately food LOL!

So I emailed maternity unit about my self referral form this morning, just got an email back to say they issued me an appointment this morning for the 1 March. I will be almost 13 weeks by that stage and that is my booking in appointment not my scan as far as I can tell. Not a happy bunny!!!

Kiztok · 06/02/2018 15:01

@snowy1982 that's not on! Surely they can't leave you that long before seeing you

snowy1982 · 06/02/2018 15:06

@kiztok, their short staffed apparently. I will wait to official letter comes out, maybe somehow I am getting both appointments at one time, but if not I think I will have to put in a complaint about it

Scoobysue10 · 06/02/2018 16:15

Pinkypromise77
During the booking in appointment. They take all your basicontacts information. Ask if you have had anyour other pregnancies. And any previous problems.
Ask about family health issues. They run off a list of important ones.
They give you information pack and blood form to have your bloods done.

They check your urine
They talk through whend you will have appointment.
Think that's about it.

Scoobysue10 · 06/02/2018 16:33

Ktn35.
I find ginger biscuits help. I only eat 1 or 2 but not all the time..
Fizzy drinks also help settle my stomach as well as strong black tea.

Helen290 · 06/02/2018 17:28

@snowy1982 that's so bad I would complain they must be sending you the scan info also as over 13 weeks is too late isn't it?

Helen290 · 06/02/2018 17:30

I find orange juice pure really helps with my nausea I was having sprite and ginger biscuits but I can't bare the thought of either now lol.

Ktn35 · 06/02/2018 17:32

Thanks guys,
I will get some fizzy water tomorrow. All I have wanted today is carbs 😩 I think lots of little meals rather than carbs snacks and big meals! And grapes seems to be working, which is better. Well it's reassuring to feel rough but it ain't easy is is?!
X

Helen290 · 06/02/2018 17:34

@PinkyPromise77 at my midwife appointment they asked basic info, family history which was applicable, my past medical history, did my height and weight, co2 level, went through what bloods I could have at my 12 week scan but that depends on what I wanted screening bloods, how I was feeling and help numbers for things also telephone number so I could book my scan:
Depends what part of the country you are as I don't get my bloods the full screen which is optional till my 12 week scan they do it all that day , where as some people have theirs before.

Helen290 · 06/02/2018 17:36

Update all got for my cold was saline spray lol nothing else is safe in the first trimester........... the saline spray was shit tho did nothing lol 😷😤
