There was a thread here on babies due in May but for some reason it’s been closed. Anyone is due then?

Still waiting for blood test results and to see a doctor. Been here since 2.30. I'm so hungry and fed up!!

RosaBaby2 · 17/04/2018 21:32

@PistFump I totally missed update! Hope you’re ok Flowers

Counter27 · 17/04/2018 21:51

Any update @PistFump ? Hope you've got some answers tonight.

emily199027 · 18/04/2018 07:27

@PistFump any news? 💐

PistFump · 18/04/2018 10:08

Sorry phone battery was very low as I wasn't expecting to be here. Well, bit of an odd one... following some blood tests I was diagnosed late last night with pre-eclampsia by an obstetrician, I'm 37+4 today, and have started having significant tightenings over night also, so the doctor said they would want to deliver the baby by c-section within 24-48 hours especially since I'm contracting (but not dilating) as she doesn't want me going in to labour (large baby, precious c-section). Since then I've had blood pressure medication and my blood pressure is now normal (in fact a little low) and I've had a different doctor come around this morning to say she sees no reason to bring forward my c-section (which is due next Friday in any case). I've had one of two steroid injections to help with surfactant in my baby's lungs. So really I don't know where i stand at the moment and may well be leaving here still pregnant (but contracting?!) 🤯

emily199027 · 18/04/2018 10:13

@PistFump oh my lord. How confusing!!!! This is the problem with the NHS! Too many doctors with different opinions!!
Are your contractions regular? Surely that's a sign that baby might be coming soon?

PistFump · 18/04/2018 10:16

Sporadic at the moment, so I can go an hour without one at all, then get two massive really strong ones that send me all hot and breathless and then nothing for half hour then three medium ones... so it's all very confusing!

emily199027 · 18/04/2018 10:26

Hoping everything calms down for you! Keep us updated x

Counter27 · 18/04/2018 10:31

Ughh bloody NHS! Have these two doctors not talked to each other when the shift changed!?

Can you ask to see the doctor again and lay out what you were told both times and ask for a discussion / consensus as to what is the best for you and baby? Or if it is up to you at least some indication of the risks of waiting vs risks of doing the section now?

How frustrating for you. Hope you get some more answers today 🤞🏼

PistFump · 18/04/2018 17:50

Still here waiting - very hot and bothered 😕 urine test was rejected to being in the wrong kind of specimen pot (I found out at 3pm) so had to do another and god knows how long the wait is on that. Blood pressure is still really good on the tablets. Blood test results still not back. Haven't seen a doctor since 8am. So still no idea on what's going on or what the plan of action is. The baby is a little on the quiet side but I do have an anterior placenta and when he faces outwards I don't feel a lot of movement. I will ask to go back on the monitor when I next see a midwife. I have been moved to a different ward.

Counter27 · 18/04/2018 20:48

You're not having the best luck! It really sucks being in the hospital and not knowing what's going on. Completely sympathise. Hope you've got the second lot of urine tests back now? I think the doctors come round in the evening again don't they or is it just in the morning?

Hope you've spoken to the midwife and been on the monitor again to have some peace of mind for little one too x

PistFump · 19/04/2018 09:34

Been on the monitor a couple of times and everything looks good - lots of movements happening that I just can't feel. The doctor was meant to come around last night to review me but didn't, but is apparently coming around this morning at some point so hopefully will get some sort of plan / idea of what's happening. I would like to go home today if poss.

PistFump · 19/04/2018 13:12

Ok I'm starting to lose patience now. I'm absolutely sitting here roasting on the hospital ward and have literally a week to prepare for this baby to arrive next Friday. I haven't had any test results back or seen a doctor for over 24 hours. Blood pressure is fine, my baby is moving fine, and I haven't had any tightenings for 24 hours. Would it be unreasonable for me to discharge myself?!

PistFump · 19/04/2018 13:54

Forget it - I'm out!!! Going home, Free!! There's no pre-eclampsia just high bp which I've got tablets for - back here on Tuesday for c-section pre-op before d-day next Friday as planned. Fingers crossed he stays put til then!!!

Counter27 · 19/04/2018 14:18

Great outcome @PistFump you can now get on with everything you need to before next week. So exciting!

PistFump · 19/04/2018 15:00

Indeed! Thank you! I'm really pleased to be home tidying up the mess that dh and ds have made in my absence.

Counter27 · 20/04/2018 15:42

Happy Birthday @LittleFox01 Flowers

Doing anything nice to celebrate? Hope you're getting on well with your prep before induction next week :)

LittleFox01 · 20/04/2018 16:08

Awwr thank you @Counter27 ! I've been for lunch with my mum, and now I am at home chilling out as it's so warm! Just going to have a take away with my partner tonight and I think he has something planned tomorrow but hasn't told me what.

I'm pretty much ready, had to move all my stuff out the bedroom yesterday so I could make up a box of nappies, wipes etc to go on my bedside table to make it easier through the night, and also put his crib up so I get used to it being there. Otherwise we are more than ready for his arrival 😍 I've been having quite a lot of pressure today and a few stabbing pains, would love for him to be out so I can be a bit more comfortable lol

How are you doing ? Xx

emily199027 · 20/04/2018 17:00

@LittleFox01 happy birthday!

I've not been feeling myself for the last few days. I've been really crampy today in my back and pelvic area. I've been really irritated as well.
DS has a cold too 😴 which isn't helping with his temper tantrums at the minute.

LittleFox01 · 20/04/2018 17:34

Thank you @emily199027

Oh no 😞 hope you start to feel better soon. The weather isn't helpjng at all, I need a paddling pool to be sat in! My feet have swollen a tiny bit due to the heat as I don't have any other signs of pre eclampsia so I'm pretty sure it's just the heat!

I'm very much looking forward to Wednesday now 😍 x

Counter27 · 20/04/2018 17:56

@LittleFox01 I'm up North so luckily the heat hasn't been too bad here, it's been lovely really. A nice breeze as well, it's just a bit more uncomfortable than usual at night. I'm feeling so much better than I was a week ago, mentally feeling much more back to myself thankfully! Definitely excited again and can't wait to meet little one in the next 2-3 weeks hopefully :)

Cosmoa · 20/04/2018 18:02

Hello all! Hope you're enjoying the sunshine in the UK!

I'm approaching 36 weeks and have been getting sharp pressure shooting pains in my cervix for the last few weeks! Only a few times a day at most (usually for 5 mins on and off) and I've also been experiencing some pregnancy carpel tunnel. So tingly fingers, especially when I sleep!

How is everyone else getting on?

Fizzysx · 20/04/2018 19:34

Urgh so annoyed saw my midwife and randomly done another blood test on me and said if my iron levels aren't above boarderline I can't go in birthing center. This after my last blood test results come back as boarderline but said it's fine I can go in the birthing center. Feel so annoyed as feel a bit lead on and built my hopes up on having a water birth to help with my SPD.

She never tells me anything at my appointments I have to ask if everything is okay each time with regards to my blood pressure or baby's heartbeat as if I don't ask she doesn't say. Feeling a little frustrated my mum says to ask to change midwife but feel theres no point when only have to see her two more times till my due date.

Anyone else going through anything similar?

Counter27 · 20/04/2018 20:19

@Fizzysx my original midwife was exactly like you describe. I had to push for every tiny bit of information and often received very dismissive responses back like 'oh you'll just know'. I didn't feel like I was getting anywhere with her and it made me not want to ask questions as she would just look at me strangely.

I ended up making a complaint and swapped to a new midwife. I did that at my last appointment (32 weeks) and so glad I did! Remember you will be seeing them more regularly up to 40-42 weeks and then after birth (3 times I think?). If you can swap to someone you're more comfortable with I think it might make a big difference to how you feel. Worth investigating anyway?

Counter27 · 20/04/2018 20:20

Meant to add that the new midwife I have been given is brilliant and I feel so at ease with her. Very forthcoming with information and I can have a proper chat with her.
