There was a thread here on babies due in May but for some reason it’s been closed. Anyone is due then?

@Lou0390 glad you're feeling better about it. I was measuring correctly with the tape at my last appointment...but my scan last week I was still measuring a week behind (which I have been all the way through) so they aren't that reliable! Hope you get an appointment soon!!

Counter27 · 11/04/2018 19:33

@LittleFox01 how did your growth scan go today?

@emily199027 we had some more reassuring news this morning and I had a decent night last night. I was able to be discharged earlier this afternoon so I'm home now. I am still having intermittent symptoms but I now know what is okay to ignore and when to call up. They were good and said call up if there is anything you're worried about at all. I figure I'll be able to rest easier at home and if I had to go in everyday to be monitored for 20-30 minutes even that is better than being admitted and staying for ages! Hopefully won't have to be in that often though. Doctor said I have threatened pre-term labour so just need to have a watchful eye out and hope I can keep this baby cooking for as long as possible :)

LittleFox01 · 11/04/2018 20:14

Glad to hear you are back home @Counter27. Hopefully you can relax a little bit more now. These babies don't like to make it easy do they? Fingers crossed your little one stays put until atleast 37 weeks.

My growth scan went okay, he's growing nicely, just a big jump in his stomach measurements (which I was expecting due to having Gestational diabetes) one thing that has worried me is that he's weighing in at 8lb 10oz already and I still have 4 weeks to go. The lady scanning me asked if I was being induced or waiting to go into labour and at this point I am just waiting to go into labour, but I'm going to talk to my midwife tomorrow as I have an appointment and see what she says! I have a few other worries about going to full term or over aswell, so will mention them aswell. X

Counter27 · 11/04/2018 20:31

@LittleFox01 just remember even with a growth scan their measurements can still be off. Even if the baby does weigh large countless women have birthed babies that size naturally so if you feel you don't want the intervention then don't let them pressure you into an induction. Obviously I know there may be lots of other factors to consider as well but you're the one in control :) there's always a limit I guess and I would definitely want to talk through with the doctor to understand if an induction was really their strong recommendation or if it's more of a choice.

LittleFox01 · 12/04/2018 06:36

@Counter27 to be honest, I'd be quite happy with an induction, I'd rather have him naturally if possible but with a raised BMI I have been told that I may need to have instruments to help deliver him or go in for a c-section. So if I can be induced a little early so he's slightly smaller still and hope that I can have him naturally. I'm not stuck on a birthing plan at all, I'm happy for whatever they need to do, just as long as he arrives safely :) it's my biggest fear at the moment of losing him :( xx

Counter27 · 12/04/2018 07:32

@LittleFox01 totally understand that. Hopefully your midwife can get it sorted so you have a date you're comfortable working towards and then the countdown is really on!!

emily199027 · 12/04/2018 09:53

@LittleFox01 are they not keeping a close eye on you seeing as you have gestational diabetes? I was tested for it a few weeks ago and was told if I have it, (I don't) I'd get a special team including nurse etc and there would be discussions about the birth if baby was growing big. They won't let you go over 40 weeks will they?

@Counter27 glad you're home and can rest and relax a little easier! Fingers crossed baby stays put!!

I have another growth scan this afternoon, and then booking in for my section. Hoping I get to see the lovely lady I saw last week! I've been absolutely crippled in the night with SPD, I nearly couldn't get out of bed for a wee!

LittleFox01 · 12/04/2018 10:26

@emily199027 I am seeing the diabetic team on Monday. But all they have done is give me tablets to take which don't really seem to be working, my levels are still high especially in the morning. They have never really given me information about labour and what would happen, so now I know he is quite big I'm going to ask a lot more questions. With it being my first I don't know what normally happens, it's all new to me.

Hope your scan goes well this afternoon and you must be excited about booking a date for your c-section! Xx

Lou0390 · 12/04/2018 10:34

So rang the X-ray department today and they said it's unlikely I will get a scan now until next week due to a waiting list. Feeling very frustrated as several MW have said I have to be seen within 72 hours today being last day, if there are growth concerns with the baby. Dosent help stress and anxiety levels. I might see if my MW can make do anything?
Sorry to moan Confused

emily199027 · 12/04/2018 11:20

@LittleFox01 that's terrible you've not really been given any info! I only had 2 scans with my first pregnancy and was midwife led, so this is all new to me as well. I may as well get a parking pass for the hospital this time we've been there so much!!

Not too sure how I'm feeling about the section at the minute, so glad I'll know a date and it's finally getting sorted but I'm quite nervous 😬 I'm at ease that I don't have to worry (hopefully) how a natural Labour will end this time. Unless she decides to make an appearance of corse!!

@Lou0390 Definitely ring your midwife! She should be able to ring and book for you? I can't understand why they can't fit you in when you need a scan! You'd think they would keep spare appointments for people who need them!

LittleFox01 · 12/04/2018 14:06

@emily199027 I know I feel a bit all over the place and that I'm not ready because I don't know what to expect! Midwife went well today, although she couldn't find his heartbeat after looking all over! Although he was kicking around whilst she was trying to find it. In the end I was sent to a different Doctors surgery for the midwife there to have a listen and she found it pretty much straight away although was very quiet on the Doppler. I've been told I need to speak to the consultant on Monday about being induced earlier, but the midwife seems to think it's a good idea, and she also said it's my body/baby, they should listen to what I want. So think I will try and push to be induced even if it's a week early.

I hope they get you in for a scan @Lou0390. Is there another hospital close by that you could go to instead? I also wouldn't worry about tummy measurements as I've always been measuring ahead, I was 43 at 34 weeks. And just looking in my notes she hasn't actually written down what today was! X

Lou0390 · 12/04/2018 15:36

Hi thanks for the replies. So tried three hospitals but they are all fully booked now until next week. I will have to go into the main hospital 1.5hour away everyday until the scan for extra monitoring of babies movements.
I'm glad I will be monitored but feel let's down that I can't get a scan after the MWs insisted I had one.

Counter27 · 12/04/2018 16:21

That's awful @Lou0390 so you have a 3 hour round trip everyday until next week? I don't understand why they wouldn't reschedule some non urgent appointments to fit you in.

Counter27 · 12/04/2018 16:22

So you should have a confirmed date on Monday to be induced @LittleFox01 ?

How many weeks are you just now? Not long to go. I hope you feel a lot better once it is booked in.

LittleFox01 · 12/04/2018 17:12

@Counter27 I am hoping so. It just depends if the consultant agrees to me being induced. But I shall let you know the outcome. I am currently 36+2 weeks, so not much longer to go :) and reading through my notes when I got home he's 4/5 engaged :) x

Lou0390 · 12/04/2018 18:02

@Counter27 yea it's very frustrating I thought they would have some emergency slots but dosent look like it. Yes the 3 hour round trip and arranging child cover for my toddler dosent help.

PistFump · 12/04/2018 19:23

Today I'm 36+5 and I had my last growth scan (97th centile baby) and I was supposed to book in for my scheduled c-section but there are no slots available until I'm at least 39 weeks so I've come away with no date. I was told at my last consultant appointment that it is not safe for me to go in to labour as I am having a large baby and have previously had a c-section it would mean a higher risk of my scar rupturing. Today I saw a different doctor ((yet again)) and I was told that if I go in to labour then I can 'give it a go'. I don't know what I think and was expecting a c-section to be booked in and a plan to be in place. I have neither of those things. My blood pressure has gone up a bit and I had +protein in my urine also. I just want my baby out and safe. I'm now in bed sulking and feeling a bit sorry for myself.

emily199027 · 14/04/2018 06:38

@PistFump I'm in a similar situation, I was told I'd be getting a date on Thursday for my section, but all we did was sign the forms and was told I'd get a phone call a week before to tell me the date.
I asked what happens if I go into labour naturally and was told I can try or I can have an emergency section - something I really don't want unless absolutely necessary!!

PistFump · 14/04/2018 11:44

@emily199027 then we are in exactly the same situation. I'm still really angry about it to be honest. I feel like my baby is potentially being put at more risk than necessary because we weren't booked in when we should have been. I feel really unsettled that I could go in to labour and everything could suddenly become an 'emergency' the thought of it really stresses me out!!

ashers86 · 14/04/2018 12:04

Hi all new here, I'm having a may baby to I'm due 23rd :)

Very excited now. I think I'm all prepared but feel like I'm totally not.

I hope you ladies having a section get it sorted soon it's just unnecessary stress for you :(

PatchworkWellies · 14/04/2018 14:28

I had to pop off for a growth scan straight after m/w yesterday (2nd in 2 weeks) as my bump is still measuring small. Baby is actually growing fine, just v low down now so it's tucked in a bit (I could have told them that because I have NO bladder capacity at present!!) I think all the stress makes us have small babies/ deliver early - had to take my hungry, tired toddler to the scan with me since I had no time to arrange childcare!! 34 weeks today, eek!
Do hope those of you trying to get CS get them sorted soon.

Misssmoo · 14/04/2018 14:45

35+2 here and feeling like crap. Vomiting bits of plug coming away and just fed up. We are near the end now. Good luckall those trying to sort sections out. I have a growth scan next week also but I know these are not that accurate had one with a previous preg and was 3 pound out x

Counter27 · 14/04/2018 14:56

Really struggling since being out of the hospital. I am so glad everything is fine with baby but the whole episode was pretty traumatic and I've been on edge emotionally since. I feel a bit lost and like I've lost some excitement. Trying my best to pull myself together but I'm worried everyday and even if I feel okay one minute the smallest thing sets me off and I'm in tears.

Not sure how to pull myself out of this I want to feel how I did a week ago!

emily199027 · 14/04/2018 15:46

@PistFump I know how you feel, mines an elective and totally my choice to have one. I've been told a few times I'll be fine to have her naturally but I just can't take that risk of the same happening as my first. I was so traumatised.
The thing that scares me is they could ring and say they are booking me in on my due date....I had my son 2 days early so I've got a 90% chance of going into spontaneous labour again...which I'm guessing is likely to be early!

I also have the added stress and upset now that my grandads dying. He was diagnosed with terminal cancer 3 weeks ago and he's deteriorating so fast he's had to go in a hospice today. I managed to go and see him yesterday thankfully and sat with him for a while, so I'm hoping he knows it was me. I'm not sure how I'm supposed to cope with losing a grandparent and have a baby around the same time. Life's so cruel.

Just remember ladies, there's not long left now! I have to keep telling myself that & I know it's easier said than done! I've been in so much pain with SPD for the last few days, yesterday I could hardly climb the stairs or get in and out of the car without crying.

@Counter27 try not to worry, ring your midwife if you need some support or there's always us ladies on here! My excitement has gone a little bit too 😢

Counter27 · 14/04/2018 16:17

Thanks @emily199027 so sorry about your grandad. Glad you got some time with him though, that's very special. Life makes no sense sometimes. Your little one will probably be the light to pull you through though 💕
