F***ity f*** f***, is 49 too old for a child?

I never swear but jeez I’m in shock. DH and I never had kids due to my endometriosis and in the end we just gave up...we do however have two beautiful step-children who I class as my own flesh and blood.

Today I found out I am pregnant. Missed my period and knew something was up as it’s like clockwork. Decided take a test just to rule it out and both tests had a big blue line! My DH is away on business and I’ve spent the day in a daze....I’m worried I’m too old and there’ll be a mass of medical complications...please someone tell me this can work out....

You aren't too old and it will take some adjusting mentally to get your head round it but wow, what a lovely surprise for you!

Get to the GP asap and take good care of yourself. If you can't get to the GP soon, then get some folic acid supplements and some advice from your local pharmacy.

Congratulations. My sil had her child at 52 through egg donor and she was fine. You've fallen naturally and had children before. You will just have more of an eye kept on you . I'm jealous would love another child. Good luck

My friend had her first at 48, after a one night stand. Her husband of 20 years had left her because she was infertile and he wanted to have kids. They had tests and everything. A drunken one nighter with a work colleague and she had a beautiful baby boy. If you can get pregnant you're clearly not too old. Massive congratulations to you. It's wonderful (if a little terrifying!).

Gran had my uncle three months before her 50th. So not too late, or at least your body doesn’t think it is!
