I never swear but jeez I’m in shock. DH and I never had kids due to my endometriosis and in the end we just gave up...we do however have two beautiful step-children who I class as my own flesh and blood.

Today I found out I am pregnant. Missed my period and knew something was up as it’s like clockwork. Decided take a test just to rule it out and both tests had a big blue line! My DH is away on business and I’ve spent the day in a daze....I’m worried I’m too old and there’ll be a mass of medical complications...please someone tell me this can work out....

Congratulations!
Have a glass of something non alcoholic and enjoy the moment.
When are you telling DH?

BuzzKillington · 20/12/2017 21:52

It is old to have a baby, of course it is.

But too old? Not if you're healthy and up for it!

MaybeDoctor · 20/12/2017 21:52

That is amazing!
Begin taking antenatal vitamins tomorrow.

blue2014 · 20/12/2017 21:53

If you want a child you'll be fine Smile DH is 55 and he's got loads of Energy and is so fun with out 1 year old DS. I'm 39 and doing fine. My mum is the most energetic by miles and she's 65. Age doesn't mean that much really, it's about what's right for you.

AntiHop · 20/12/2017 21:54

Not too old by definition as you ARE PREGNANT! Congratulations. Flowers

CoolCarrie · 20/12/2017 21:54

Congratulations! What an absolute blessing OP.

It’s going to be tough - but, let’s be frank, having a baby is no picnic at any age Grin

My brothers girlfriends mum had her at 48! She's now 30 and has always been totally healthy and robust...as is her YOUNGER brother who she went on to have at 49! If your pregnant then your body thinks it's the right time for you so Cross your fingers and enjoy the journey.

Darcychu · 20/12/2017 22:02

my Ex neighbour got pregnant at 52 ... she said she hardly even felt her periods anymore except a small spotting, so was a huge suprise. she had a healthy baby girl. She was very sad that she felt too old for a child but was also really happy she got to experience being a parent again.

TheLegendOfBeans · 20/12/2017 22:02

This is a lovely thread - congrats x

MrsSchadenfreude · 20/12/2017 22:02

Congratulations! A friend of mine had one naturally at 50, after years of Unsuccessful IVF. They gave up and resigned themselves to being childless. Two other friends had menopause babies at 48.

JoJoSM2 · 20/12/2017 22:02

A surprise and a half! Congrats and best of luck!
