Congrats Brenna! Beautiful picture.
@spn another person who can relate. On my 5th pregnancy now, but luckily my 3rd was successful so I have a beautiful boy.
Since my 3rd mc was after him, they won't do any investigations until I have 3 in a row though.
This time I feel like I am in a weird limbo of not ttc but not wanting to acknowledge the pregnancy yet so just trying to keep busy.

LisaSimpsonsbff · 17/01/2018 10:04

So many congratulations on your beautiful little girl, brenna! I'm sorry that it sounds like the first few days were a difficult and worrying time for you, but so glad that you're both doing well now.

MsJuniper · 17/01/2018 10:08

I missed a lot of new joiners recently, really nice to hear news of BFPs but sorry for your previous losses.

I am 29+1 and still very tentative about the pregnancy, although feeling more positive the last couple of weeks. DH and I barely acknowledged it for the first few months. Hard to ignore now as she kicks me morning till night! Hope you all get to this point safely and well. It has been so good to have this place to share worries and relief.

Congratulations Brenna! She's gorgeous.
SPN as others have said, I felt/feel exactly the same as you. Had 2 MCs, sobbed at the doctors (and at my booking in appointment this time) but nothing they'd do about it, so DH and I just ignored the pregnancy as much as we could. We paid for a private scan at around 10 weeks which we both expected to be bad news, so were amazed when it wasn't, and then amazed again when all was good at 12 weeks, and now 20 weeks...! I'm feeling movement fairly regularly now so actually starting to believe we might have a baby after all of this. It's really shit that the NHS won't do anything after 2 MCs, but you have to keep telling yourself that it's for a reason - we've talked about the stats on here before, the odds are very much in your favour that all will be absolutely fine this time.

SPNs · 17/01/2018 12:30

@hammoumisandwich congratulations my lovely! It really does sound as though you’ve walked in my shoes!!! That’s exactly how I feel and exactly how I know I’ll react at my first scan if I make it that far, disbelieving until I see the proof - it’s so hard to be told that the first two ‘don’t count’ and it’s all about the third. But as you say, I hope it’s for a reason and statistics are in my favour this time around! I must say your post gave me such hope - but I soon quashed that! So as not to allow myself to get too excited!!!! Good luck with your ongoing pregnancy and thank you for sharing xxxx

So I bit the bullet and rang my surgery today and asked for a call back from the midwife. Spoke to her but she wasn’t the same midwife I saw last time round-she would get the original midwife to call me back tomorrow. I’m in such a predicament, after the devastating experience I had at neonatal last time I don’t want to have my baby there. She said I could be referred to another hospital which takes the best part of an hour to get to on average. Last time I had HG at 14-22 weeks and the thought of getting up and going to the hospital which is 5 minutes away would get me worked up. How will I manage an hours journey? DH said we could continue with the care as normal and have the delivery somewhere else, the midwife didn’t think that was an option because the blood tests and results are kept at the hospital you visit for your scans etc. Which makes me wonder what do those women do who are caught short and have to go to the nearest hospital? Or do they just aim for their designated hospital in the hope they don’t have the baby on route?

brogueish · 17/01/2018 15:47

Delighted for you Brenna - huge congratulations! WineFlowersBrew

Flatwhite32 · 17/01/2018 17:38

So, I'm freaking out today at 13+4 that my sickness seems to have disappeared. I had started just being nauseous anyway instead of puking, but even that hasn't bothered me today. I almost want to be sick as reassurance. I'm crazy...

coastalchick · 17/01/2018 18:38

@flatwhite32 - it's normal for sickness to stop second trimester. Am sure it's nothing to worry about xx

notparticularlypatient · 17/01/2018 19:10

@Flatwhite32 if you google HCG levels during pregnancy, you will
among other (more or less scary) things get a chart that shows how hcg levels and reported nausea correlates. At 13 weeks, reported nausea is much much lower compared to only a week before. Your body behaves like it should. I am the same, 12 weeks today, and the last week has been much easier nausea wise. It was exactly the same with DD at this point so I'm not too worried (still worry about a lot of other things, though...)

@Brenna24 many congrats on the birth of your beautiful little girl! So
glad that you are back home and all is well.

@Expecto they must surely be able
to make an exception for you due to your former traumatic experience? It doesn't make any sense that documents/journals cannot be transferred? What about people moving? Sorry that you have to go
through the hassle of insisting, though. Perhaps you can make your dh argue with them...?

For those of you in those early weeks (I'm still quite early myself): it is so stressful. I find it easier to just accept the worry, and postpone the bonding with baby until a later stage. No one should feel bad or guilty for not being comfortable with embracing their pregnancies after loss(es). Sending sympathy to you all.

On the positive side, I got my harmony results back this week as low risk. Given my age (41) I found this very reassuring. Now waiting for my 12 week scan on
Tuesday. Scanxiety is building...

Expecto · 17/01/2018 20:22

@coastalchick it doesn’t stop at that. The midwife said oh the other Hospital has a charter for how many women it takes in a month and that she would need to put a request in for me ASAP to see if it gets accepted. It doesn’t seem as though giving birth alone in that Hospital would even be an option. Which now makes me wonder if I don’t get accepted at that hospital which is an hour away then where’s the next one and how far is that? I don’t seem to have many options

BertieBotts · 17/01/2018 20:23

The placenta also takes over during the second trimester which helps mitigate the hormonal effects of pregnancy. Many people say the second trimester is the most enjoyable because you're not so stuffed with hormones as the first, and you're not yet uncomfortable from being too large.

Expecto · 17/01/2018 20:35

Another thing I don’t seem to understand is I thought the whole point of paper notes is so that they don’t have to look anything up, it’s all there infront of them

Sickness can continue yes but most people find it stops.

Sorry you're having issues with the hospital, it sounds very difficult.

Hazandduck · 17/01/2018 21:40

Ah @Brenna huge congratulations! So happy for you! Have followed your journey with Francesca from the start and so pleased for you 💗

Expecto · 17/01/2018 23:34

@Foxtrot I took your advice and sat looking at different hospitals and reviews left by patients...it seems they’re all as bad as each other 🤦🏻‍♀️

hotcookie · 18/01/2018 07:24

Brenna congratulations, I'm pleased you are both doing well.

Expecto what about a home birth? If you have one 2 one midwives in your area I have found them wonderful (and very supportive of home birth, but I will likely end up choosing a hospital birth) www.onetoonemidwives.org/midwifery-services.htm

Morning All-

I went to bed with tummy ache/ period pain after a weird watery/blooded discharge yesterday, TMI I’m sorry... now this morning I’m have tummy ache again like period pains and blood after first wee this morning... I am very early... either 4&5 or 5&4... thinking of heading to the EPU today. Will they actually do anything! Having a proper panic. I have called in sick today and am having massive guilt sandwiched with blind panic x

kirinm · 18/01/2018 08:28

@user1489606775 the EPU saw me at 5w. They scanned me and I was rescanned at 5w4d. I have a history of recurrent miscarriage so I'm not sure if that's why they were willing to scan me so early. I was half expecting them to say no. I also had quite a lot of blood. The responses people get from the EPU seem to vary quite a lot.

user1489606775 · 18/01/2018 08:35

Thanks for your reply. I have no idea what they will say. I have a long cycle so I’m not really sure how far along I am. Last time I sat there for 2 hours and they refused to scan me! It was actual torture!

keeponrunning85 · 18/01/2018 08:38

Congratulations Brenna! She is gorgeous!

Sorry to hear about the bleeding user. I guess you're maybe too early for a scan but they could do some bloods to check if your HCG is rising maybe.

I had some sharp stabby pains over to one side yesterday. Not crampy and no bleeding. I think I've been feeling less nauseous too. Roll on Tuesday and my next scan.

xxmissbrightsidexx · 18/01/2018 10:36

Hi ladies, hope everyone is okay.
Congratulations to you Brenna 💜
20weeks today, had my scan yesterday and everything looks okay with baby boy. I have placenta previa and im hoping it shifts out the way, but just grateful all looked well with bubs x
