It’s good isn’t it, Foxtrot! DH works away in the week and I was expecting a battle, was so pleased when the letter came through.

Sharing your anxiety about the scan...keep thinking even if the baby is alive they will find something wrong. I’m not usually so pessimistic! I have a big job interview on Tuesday, so keeping my mind off the scan with interview prep.

Hope everyone else has good weekends planned, and you’re doing ok in particular, namechanged.

zaalitje · 13/01/2018 09:05

My 20 week scan was ok. I feel like I should be more positive but the sonographer said the image quality was really poor so I'm now worried that something was missed.
Bean was measuring a little big around the stomach but still within range (another thing I'm now worried about).

TheGrumpySquirrel · 13/01/2018 09:52

There is a baby with a heartbeat! Measuring 8+3 so due date 22 August (even though I know I’m 8+0 by ov date). We got to see the heartbeat flickering away 💗 very relieved to have made it this far

Flatwhite32 · 13/01/2018 09:56

Fantastic news @TheGrumpySquirrel! Really pleased for you. The nerves and anxiety are so overwhelming aren't they. Really glad everything is looking good. Xx

LisaSimpsonsbff · 13/01/2018 10:14

Fantastic news on good scans, grumpy and zaa! zaa I know you really struggle to accept good news and I completely understand that - but if she hadn't been able to get all the measurements and check everything she needed to, they would have scheduled a repeat scan. They wouldn't have told you all looked fine if they couldn't see well enough to do the checks.

Lifeofpies · 13/01/2018 10:43

That’s wonderful news, zaa and squirrel.
I know it’s tough, Zaa, but as Lisa says, if they had an ounce of concern they would have scheduled a second scan. You could always have a ‘bonding’ scan in a week or two if you don’t feel like you got a good look at LO? X

coastalchick · 13/01/2018 11:54

Great news on the scans ladies!!!! x

TheGrumpySquirrel · 13/01/2018 15:40

Also had my booking in today and MW was so careful to say this is your THIRD pregnancy and acknowledging the baby I lost which was nice.

coastalchick · 13/01/2018 16:05

That IS nice grumpy. I really do think there should. E across the board training for all medical people about how to deal with these issues sensitively

GreyCloudsToday · 13/01/2018 18:49

Yay Grumpy and Zaa!

Flatwhite32 · 13/01/2018 19:24

God I am so anxious tonight. Had 12 week scan on Tues and all was ok, but I'm now worrying about getting to 20 weeks. Got the heartbeat appointment 3 weeks on Tuesday, and I'm already terrified. How do you guys cope with the anxiety? I'm finding it so difficult...Sad

hotcookie · 13/01/2018 19:46

Good news grumpy & zaa I second the others who said that if they were worried they hadn't got a good view of everything you would have had to go back

flatwhite it IS difficult, I have good days and bad days still at 27 weeks, I try to just take each day as it comes. Just to say not every area/midwife will try to find the heartbeat at 16 week appt-it can be difficult to find and I've heard some areas don't even try for that reason-so please don't get too wound up about it.

coastalchick · 13/01/2018 22:34

@flatwhite32, I have no words of wisdom to stop the anxious feelings. Just try to breathe and know chances now are it will all be ok. xxx

ThoughtAboutThisTooMuch · 14/01/2018 00:12

Great scan news grumpy and zaa!
Another July due date here! (6th)

I’m starting to get irrationally worried again (and I was doing so well!). Kinda getting annoyed that I won’t get to see the Midwife so won’t get the heartbeat checked. 5 weeks until the 20 week scan seems ages away. Really tempted to get another private scan before I go on holiday but can’t really afford it money or time wise (DH away this week so don’t really have any time away from DS)

Lifeofpies · 14/01/2018 12:23

Just back from our dating scan and we saw a wondeful wriggly baby! Just overwhelmed. DH and I had a good cry, and the sonographer was very kind. It wouldn’t get into a good position so we had about 10mins to watch it moving. DS was so chilled in every scan, hardly moved, so it was amazing to already see stuff like the hemispheres of the brain and the spine. I’m going to allow myself to say an EDD - July 30th. Happy Sunday everyone.

LisaSimpsonsbff · 14/01/2018 12:53

So many congratulations, lifeofpies! What fantastic news.

coastalchick · 14/01/2018 12:53

Great news lifeofpies!

And great news on your scans too grumpy and Zaa.

Flatwhite32 · 14/01/2018 16:53

Thanks everyone. On the July thread there are ladies (all lovely!) taking advantage of the sales and buying pushchairs (very wise actually as there are some fab deals!). I am just far too scared to do it. I haven't even downloaded a pregnancy app!

Congratulations @Lifeofpies! We got a great look at our bubba too, as it took the sonographer a while to do the nuchal measurement.

Thank you so much all. Today is the first time I’ve felt relaxed in this pregnancy. I know it won’t last forever, but very grateful for the feeling.

Yes I also avoid the July thread and week by week calculators etc. Just going to go by scans/MW appointments.

Very best wishes for Tues, Foxtrot. I have had the same thoughts. Today it was the baby will be alive (I have HG so felt it would be) but would have something very wrong with it. I almost don’t mind that the losses have taken all the joy from pregnancy—I only really have headspace to focus on a healthy baby at the end. But then I have been lucky enough to have one ‘successful’ pregnancy before my MMCs.

Hope everyone else is doing well today X

Smurf123 · 14/01/2018 18:29

So pleased to hear of all the good scans!
Foxtrot I remember doing (and still do) the same thing.
I am dosed with what I hope is the cold please not flu. I don't think I slept last night as my back and hips and legs all ache! As do my sinuses, head, throat and teeth! Grr. No temperature well 36.8 so not really which is good. I have caught up on a few hours sleep today but still feeling wrecked. Think I will have to give in and take paracetemol later just to ease it enough to sleep. But I've been told that me having the cold won't hurt baby and as long as that's true I'll deal with it.
Hope everyone else is well
