So sorry for those who haven’t had their babies acknowledged, or worse. Flowers

Expecto · 10/01/2018 22:11

It’s okay, I could see the embarrassment flush over their faces but sometimes it just wasn’t the conversation I wanted to be having. Anyway needless to say when I start visiting the doctors for this pregnancy it will all come up again and again and again.... a snotty email might be the way to go!

hotcookie · 11/01/2018 08:20

That's awful. Anyone medical who asks if it my 1st pregnancy gets told 2nd preg hopefully 1st baby. Anyone else I just say yes.

Have my last cervical length scan today & a growth scan. The nerves always set in before hand...

Lifeofpies · 11/01/2018 08:24

all the very best for today, hotcookie. How many weeks are you now?

hotcookie · 11/01/2018 08:43

I'm 27 weeks now, and almost grown out of the 2nd set of new bras that I bought. I don't really like non-wired ones and wired nursing bras are VERY expensive(and at the rate I'm growing god knows what size I'll end up-was a 30DD and now a 34E!!) so I just keep buying bigger sizes in the figleaves clearance dept hoping that I'll fit it them until the end... Maybe not Grin

Lifeofpies · 11/01/2018 08:55

Ha! They do get HUGE! I went from DD to a G cup wIth DS. Doesn’t sound too much but they were immense! You’re right not to buy nursing bras just yet, but you may find you don’t want wires later on (can’t remember if you’re advised against still?). I loved hot milk ones when I had DS, but always tried to get them on sale.

keeponrunning85 · 11/01/2018 09:47

Can I have a hand hold please? I've got my first scan in an hour and feel absolutely sick. Had managed to stay relatively calm until this morning.

Lifeofpies · 11/01/2018 09:48

Of course, keepon. Sending very best wishes you way. What time is the scan?

keeponrunning85 · 11/01/2018 09:52

Thanks lifeofpies. It is at 10.50 although my consultant generally runs late. DH is meeting me there because he had a 9 oclock meeting he couldn't miss. I think I might set off soon just to get out of the house.

kirinm · 11/01/2018 09:58

Good luck today @keeponrunning85

peachgreen · 11/01/2018 10:21

Midwife said today "Did you have the GTT in your last pregnancy?" "No, I didn't get that far." "Okay. And how old is your little one now?"

Well, he'd be 8 and a half months, thanks so much for reminding me. Hmm

Hand hold for anyone who needs one, esp @hotcookie and @keeponrunning85.

Expecto · 11/01/2018 10:27

I was reading a Sands booklet online a few days ago. It says the staff will normally put a teardrop sticker on the front of your notes and if they don’t you should ask for one. That way whoever picks up the notes knows that there’s been a loss and might not put their foot in their mouth!

LisaSimpsonsbff · 11/01/2018 10:27

Sending you the absolute best of luck keepon. Really hoping for good news for you.

Expecto · 11/01/2018 10:30

@Hotcookie towards the end you’ll find non-wired bras the only thing you want to wear!

@keepon some air will do you good and hopefully DH will get there sooner to meet you

keeponrunning85 · 11/01/2018 12:06

Thanks so much ladies. I'm very pleased to report a succesful scan. Measuring 7+5 woth a good heartbeat. The consultant was very happy with how it looked. She took so long to say anything that I was convinced it was going to be bad news and DH looked like he was going to throw up on the floor. I am officially the most pregnant I have ever been.

bitzy12 · 11/01/2018 12:19

@keeponrunning85 that's great news, congratulations xxx

Fantastic news, keep! So pleased to hear that all is looking good

Lifeofpies · 11/01/2018 13:18

Wonderful news, keepon!

BertieBotts · 11/01/2018 13:49

Keep that's brilliant Smile

NoParticularPattern · 11/01/2018 16:47

Yay for a good scan keep!! I cried all over the sonographer for my first good scan with a heartbeat- so much relief!!

Update on me ladies- midwife is now happy with growth so no growth scan for me! Massive relief I can tell you. Baby is now almost fully engaged which explains the stabby cervix pains I get on and off and is hopefully a good sign that baby might turn up on time, maybe!! Although despite head being waaayy down, the baby’s feet are still in my ribs so I’m guessing it’s going to be forever doomed to a life of struggling for trousers like it’s mother! Feeling extra tired today but I think that’s more to do with the fact that I have an achy left hip now and it’s just a little bit niggly and annoying on a night so is slightly disturbing my sleep. Wondering at what point it is acceptable to start trying to bring labour on faster?! I really don’t want another February birthday in this family!!

Hope everyone else is having a perfectly normal, non eventful day!

Oh and yes I’ve been on the receiving end of the miscarriage conversation. I try not to pay a lot of attention to it though as it doesn’t do me any favours really! Especially not with this one’s due date being so close to the due date I had last year. I know my regular midwife wouldn’t say anything because she knows as she filled my notes in initially, but I guess others don’t know until they get to the pages asking about previous pregnancies. I don’t like it when they seem deliberately obtuse once you’ve mentioned it though!

MsJuniper · 11/01/2018 16:52

Fantastic news @keeponrunning85!

@keeponrunning85 Fantastic news!!

@NoParticularPattern When is your due date? I have those same stabby pains - aren't they a delight?! - but no other signs yet.

Flatwhite32 · 11/01/2018 17:48

Fantastic news @keeponrunning85!

So, I've told people now I'm 12 weeks, but because of our last loss which was SO unexpected (MMC discovered at 12 week scan), I feel uncomfortable discussing due dates or generally anything in the future, as I'm just so terrified about something happening. Does anyone else feel like this?

User45632874 · 11/01/2018 17:49

Yes, I have a sticker on the front of my notes which is meant to raise awareness...can't quite remember what is says without looking but I think it is designed to indicate that I have had a loss x
