Hi, I'm new to the pregnancy board. I've just found out that I am pregnant with my 2nd (4 weeks today) and the NHS calculator says all being well I will be due around 12th May.

I couldn't see any threads for May yet - anyone just found out and want to join me?

DS has just turned 7 so I'm a bit rusty on this whole pregnancy thing!

Hi all,

Hope you don't mind me joining :) I'm 5+2 so due on 13th May with our first. VERY excited/nervous/daunted by everything and all of these changes that are happening! Still doesn't feel real. Have any of you been having backaches yet? Is that normal this early? I'm curled up with a hot water bottle every day!

Smurf1612 · 12/09/2017 19:09

Thank you to all of you. The atmosphere is horrible here. I appreciate all your support, it comes to something when the love of your life ignores what's really going on. It's clearly all my fault.

Any way onwards and positivity needed, mini me trying to cook so need to take care of myself. Lots of love to you all and your mini bumps. Xx

PhoenixDown · 12/09/2017 19:39

Another one very tentatively joining - only just 4 weeks. Not sure when I ovulated so I'm going with the later possibility, so EDD around 23/5?

It's my second, have a DD who's 5 next week. First cycle so I'm utterly flabbergasted it happened so quick as last time it took at least 6 months both times (first was mmc).

Crossing my fingers this one stays, can't get too excited until I see the heartbeat on scan. Really want to tell my daughter as she'll be over the moon but waiting until scan at least.

Happy to be joining you all :D

Jaynexx22 · 12/09/2017 21:38

Hi I'm nervously joining you all! I'm 4+3 showing DD as 19th may.
Had an early miscarriage in June so very nervous and trying not to let myself get too excited but all feels very different this time round .. more symptoms etc, hopefully this is a sticky baby!! It will be nice to have people to talk with as we haven't told anybody yet! Xxx

sewsewmum · 12/09/2017 22:13

Evening ladies! I booked my first midwifes appointment today for a couple of week's time. I should be 6+5 by then. Can any of the more experienced (or even those slightly ahead of me) mums tell me what I might expect from this first appointment please? Just how much prodding and poking should I brace myself for?

Thanks x

Youzanne · 12/09/2017 23:33

Ooooh same @sewsewmum. I'd love to hear the answer to this too! My GP also said I should be thinking of what kind of birth id like to have so I can discuss this with the midwife at my appt. Um, WHAT!? I feel like I'm only just getting my head around being pregnant!
Congratulations @BigDipperMama on your surprise baby! This is my first, not sure how many older mums are in here but at least we all have each other for support!

PhoenixDown · 12/09/2017 23:34

@sewsewmum Midwife here :) It's more like lots of boring form filling, unfortunately! Might differ slightly between areas but we give ladies their antenatal book and fill in all the booking bits - obstetric history, medical history and family history, social issues etc etc and make any referrals needed. We take bloods (blood group, iron, infections like syphilis, HIV and hep B) and also a urine sample (so take one if you can!) Height and weight for BMI. Also forms for free prescriptions, registering for children's centre, probably more I've forgotten. We then book the dating scan. You'll get eleventy billion leaflets thrown at you and a load of info but don't worry if you can't take it all in yet, you've plenty of time to go through it all :)

Just a heads up - no idea if it's the same across the country but we can't do booking bloods in our area until 8 weeks minimum. However it shouldn't be an issue - at our clinic if someone comes too early we'll do the booking then ask them back in a couple of weeks for a quick 10 min appointment to do the bloods.

Ginger is supposed to be good @emilyjayne1990 maybe you could get some ginger herbal tea in or ginger biscuits? I found they worked well for me last time I was pregnant. I'm 5+3 and now also feeling a little nauseous!

LadyPug · 13/09/2017 07:50

Hello all!

Just found this thread, can I join? 4+2 DD 21st May. I'm 34 with a 2 yo DD. No symptoms yet and still very faded positive tests so a bit worried about this!

sewsewmum · 13/09/2017 08:22

I didn't think I'd be alone @Youzanne
Smile

@PhoenixDown that's amazing and how awesome to have a midwife in our group! Thank you so much for responding. That's kind of what I expected but did want to be caught unawares.

WrittenandGrown · 13/09/2017 10:18

Hi all. Congratulations to all who have joined. I have a question - we are going on holiday to a place with a hot tub in a few weeks. Can I go in? Thanks in advance.

Xjo1992x · 13/09/2017 10:22

@WrittenandGrown congratulations :) I don't think it's advised as it's the temperature I think. So long as it isn't too hot I'm sure it would be ok though

WrittenandGrown · 13/09/2017 10:27

Xjo thanks so much for your reply. I thought that might be the answer but I kind of hoped! Nevermind. Hope everyone is getting on well today.

lauralwright · 13/09/2017 10:49

I have just found out I'm pregnant and I'm
Approx 4 weeks. Everyone seems
So happy and talking about babies but I'm feeling really anxious about getting through the first 12 weeks safely and with only
Seeing lines on a stick I'm scared until a scan happens in 2 months! Does anyone else feel like this or just me? This is my
Second so I thought I would be relaxed about everything

Xjo1992x · 13/09/2017 10:56

@lauralwright that's exactly how I feel. Any small pain, funny feeling or symptom is being googled. You're not alone xx

lulupregnant2 · 13/09/2017 11:04

@Xjo1992x thanks for replying. I'm glad I'm not the only one feeling like this! It's strange because on the other hand I want to shout it from the rooftop and tell everyone that will
Listen but can't help but worry!

Xjo1992x · 13/09/2017 11:08

Yep same
On top of that the other half has decided to start pestering me for sex! That's the last thing I want to be doing right now. Ugh

lulupregnant2 · 13/09/2017 11:12

@Xjo1992x I know what you mean. Have you got any symptoms at all? I feel quite tired a lot and I am a little crampy every now and again but other than that if I didn't know I was pregnant I wouldn't know!

Xjo1992x · 13/09/2017 11:17

@lulupregnant2 yeah I've had really sore boobs, but they seem to be easing a bit. Been really tired, and lacking in energy. Weeing literally all the time. Headaches. Cramps. An increased heart rate. But I think I've sort of gotten used to these symptoms, so don't notice them so much so I keep panicking that it's ectopic or a chemical pregnancy.

lulupregnant2 · 13/09/2017 11:25

@Xjo1992x yeah. But I'm not confused to how many weeks I am. My first day of the last period was 8th Aug so doctors would say I'm 5 weeks wouldn't they! Just did a clear blu digital and its come up with 1-2 so confused :-/ scared me now thinking my levels have dropped and things might be wrong!!

Xjo1992x · 13/09/2017 11:43

@lulupregnant2 that's fine. Clear blue date from implantation, whereas the proper dates would be from your last AF

lulupregnant2 · 13/09/2017 12:37

@Xjo1992x thanks for easing my mind

Biscuitmonster15 · 13/09/2017 13:30

Im in complete shock! Been to the doctors because I thought maybe I was going through early menopause.
Turns out I'm pregnant with child number 5! My others are 22-19,15,13 and I was sterilised with the last one!
Im due early may and just stunned

Biscuitmonster15 · 13/09/2017 13:35

@PhoenixDown I'm in a panic and read you are a midwife. Was so dumbstruck in the doctors I left without really been able to ask questions.
Ive been sterilised and now Ive found out I am pregnant but Ive had 5 c-sections. Hence I was sterilised in the first place

Smurf1612 · 13/09/2017 14:40

Haven't felt right for 2 days now. Have just done 2 tests, 1 was negative and one is so faint I can barely see it. Surely they'd be getting darker. 😢. Looks like it's not my time. Good luck to the rest of you. Xxx
