Hi, I'm new to the pregnancy board. I've just found out that I am pregnant with my 2nd (4 weeks today) and the NHS calculator says all being well I will be due around 12th May.

I couldn't see any threads for May yet - anyone just found out and want to join me?

DS has just turned 7 so I'm a bit rusty on this whole pregnancy thing!

Morning ladies. I’ve now made it to 18 weeks Smile I’ve started getting hip pain at night which means I just can’t get comfortable enough to sleep properly... I am desperate to sleep on my back (something I never used to do - & I know I should not start now!)
I know it’s down to the increase in relaxin. I remember some of you discussing it before.
I’ve tried sleeping with a pillow between my knees (to support my knees & keep them in line with my hips) but it doesn’t seem to help.

Do any of you clever ladies have any solutions / things to try that have worked for you?

Thanks very much!

BlueSky1980 · 28/11/2017 08:23

P.S congratulations @nats1017 how exciting!
I’ve only got 2 & a bit weeks to wait until our anomaly scan & I cannot wait to find out the sex... I am far too impatient to wait until birth!

Fizzysx · 28/11/2017 12:59

@BlueSky1980 Hi i was struggling with this quite early on and getting pains down my hip and leg and couldnt walk on my leg until the pain stopped i know you have said about the pillow between your legs but have you tried a long pillow one of the pregnancy ones? i got mine from argos for £15 and literally cuddle it at night and wrap my legs round it while sleeping on my left side and it has stopped ever since.

BlueSky1980 · 28/11/2017 16:07

Thanks @Fizzysx I think you are right! I’ve ordered one of those today, so fingers crossed

Fizzysx · 28/11/2017 17:14

@BlueSky1980 my fingers are crossed for you!

Is anyone going to these 3 free antenatal courses? The leaflet was in my first midwife pack.
My midwife said the first one is quite boring but last two are really good but I've been put off going since when I booked it on the phone the lady on the phone was so rude to me I have not wanted to go since but wanted to know if anyone knows if they are actually worth going to as suppose to go to the first one on Friday.
What's people's thoughts please x

Needmorehands · 28/11/2017 20:40

Fizzys - I would go. Any information is a weapon in your armoury, and even if you decide to go to other AN classes later you mat find someone phrases something differently which sticks better in your mind. I did the NCT classes then the NHS ones and certainly didn't find the free ones a waste of time even though they had to be much more compressed than the longer and pricier NCT ones.
Bluesky - my hip is doing my head in. I think Chip is sitting on my sciatic nerve as when it digs its elbow in it can twinge down to my knee :( Not keeping me awake though, not sure a decent firework display would manage that!
16wk appt with MW tomorrow, DH is coming with me and hoping to hear teh heartbeat :)

Fizzysx · 28/11/2017 21:16

@Needmorehands thank you I appreciate the advice my midwife told me to go to the first one at 16 weeks then the other two at 34-36 weeks.
The lady on the phone said i was too early to go to first one and should go say end of January/February with a really rude abrupt attitude I responded saying my midwife told me to go at 16 weeks so I will go at 16 weeks. Then she got arsy telling me I wouldn't be able to park so best walk there.
The attitude of some people is really off putting, this is my first pregnancy and was expecting happy supportive people instead I ended up livid after talking to her.

I do find this group extremely helpful and feel supported which is lovely so thank you ladies!

Hi all,

I have been a long time lurker on this thread (since I found out I was pregnant, although didn't want to post due to circumstances before this pregnancy.)

I am due 8th May and found out earlier this week we are having a boy!

I hope you are all doing well :)

Xxx

rasberryandlime · 02/12/2017 11:51

@LittleFox01 congratulations! I am due on 11th May so just a few days after you. I know how you feel with being nervous...
I have posted a bit but also lurked for the last few weeks, unfortunately my pregnancy has been pretty stressful, with bleeding pretty much throughout, it has started to subside now and latest scan last week at 16 weeks was fine, but waiting for 20 week scan to check if baby has caught back up with growth and all is ok after complications early on. Naively thought being pregnant would be exciting but I've been on edge practically the whole time, and thought I had lost the baby so many times. Hopefully everyone else is doing ok and managing to enjoy the excitement of being pregnant xx

BlueRaincoat89 · 02/12/2017 15:44

@rasberryandlime I've had bleeding a few times as well and know how worrying it is. Mine seems to have stopped now touch wood but I still worry. Hope everything is ok!

For those that have had a private gender scan, did both of you want it? I'd like to have one before Xmas to know the gender but also because it's another opportunity to check all is looking ok. DH thinks we shouldn't know the gender until we know everything is ok at the 20 week scan. My 20 week scan isn't until mid Jan...seems ages away!

LittleFox01 · 03/12/2017 21:39

I'm sorry to hear you've had such a worrying pregnancy so far raspberry. I'm glad everything seems to be going okay for you now. Did you find out what you was having at your 16 week scan? Or will you find out? Is this your first baby? This is the furthest I've got in any pregnancy so I'm very happy but still very nervous. My first loss was at 17 weeks, so that's why we had a scan then to make sure everything is still okay and also got to find out the sex which was lovely :) I can start preparing! We are very close in due dates! Xx

rasberryandlime · 05/12/2017 20:53

@LittleFox01 sorry totally missed your reply! Congrats on finding out you are having a little boy.

Yes it's my first baby, this pregnancy started as twins but one didn't make it very early on (past about 6 weeks), hence the bleeding and complications. This left a bleed near the placenta of my other baby, so I've had some continued bleeding, and the baby started very small, but is now within the boundaries of the very small end of 'normal' whatever that means, so seems to be catching up at every scan.

I didn't find out if it's a boy/girl at the 16 week scan, partly because Ive tried to stop myself getting too attached until we know for sure everything is going to be alright?

When is your 20 week scan? Mine is 22nd December. Hope everything goes smoothly for you from now x

LittleFox01 · 06/12/2017 06:37

Awwr sorry to hear that one of the twins didn't make it raspberry. But I'm glad your little one is catching up quickly.

I don't have my 20 week scan until 21 weeks, they are giving the baby an extra week to grow to be able to get all measurements needed so I have mine 27th December.

I understand what you mean about getting too attached. A girl from work had already given me lots of clothes for baby, which I really didn't want to get until after my 21 week scan, so I am hoping everything is okay.

What a lovely Christmas present you will have, seeing baby and also finding out the sex (If you feel you want to) xx

Pennyfitzgerald91 · 06/12/2017 16:22

Hi mums to be!

I am 18 weeks tomorrow, EDD is 10th May. Has anyone felt movements one day and then barely any the next? I am getting a little worried, since about wk 15 I had felt flutters but exactly on 17wks i started feeling a poke here and there, but today there has been barely any. I have tried, eating sugary things, lying down etc but hasn't worked. Shouls i be worried? Thanks x

Fizzysx · 06/12/2017 17:56

@Pennyfitzgerald91 Hi there I have this every now and again some days full on active all day then other days barely anything it can even be like this for two three days then before I know it the next day it is being really active again. Try not to worry I know its extremely hard.

Pennyfitzgerald91 · 06/12/2017 18:06

Hey @Fizzysx
How many weeks are you?
Yeah it's so hard not to worry. I know right now there wont be a pattern of movement to follow, but still it worries me. Glad to hear I'm not the only one. I have my 20wk scan 4 days before Christmas and I am getting more nervous and scared that something could be wrong x

Fizzysx · 06/12/2017 18:16

@Pennyfitzgerald91 I am 16 weeks actually been annoyed as midwife cancelled on me so got an extra week to wait to see her.
Ive been feeling the baby move since 12 weeks which alot of people have been amazed at,but in a way been a bit stressful as been worried about the movements for weeks now today its so active that I havent been able to have a nap 😂. Got my 20 week scan on the 2nd January which feels ages away but finding the weeks to go so quick recently. Its so hard not worry but I think thats normal so try not to panic.

rasberryandlime · 06/12/2017 20:26

@Pennyfitzgerald91 I'm due on 11th May so very close and haven't felt any movement at all yet. They did say at my 12 week scan I have an anterior placenta which acts like a cushion and means it may take longer to feel movement, but still worrying when others have felt baby since much earlier.
Anyone else close to 18 weeks and not felt anything yet?

LittleFox01 · 06/12/2017 20:38

I haven't felt movement yet and I'm 18+1 I thought I had a couple of times but then never felt it again so I'm not 100% sure it was baby. Hopefully we will get to feel them soon! X

Pennyfitzgerald91 · 06/12/2017 20:46

@raspberryandlime with my 2yr old my placenta was in front of my baby so i barely felt anything until 19/20wks, after the 20wk scan i started to feel more movement more frequently. Yeah that's right, the placenta is a large cushion lol. I'm sure you will feel much more after your next scan x

DisneyDaughter · 06/12/2017 20:50

I'm due 11th May too. I have a posterior placenta and still haven't felt
Bubb move, despite midwife and sonographers telling me they're a little wriggler!

rasberryandlime · 06/12/2017 21:20

Thanks, it's great to have some reassurance from others. I have no bump yet and no movement and keep seeing pics of ladies at the same stage with huge bumps and lots of movement, so hard not to worry :)

PatchworkWellies · 06/12/2017 21:42

Hey, I've felt movement since about 13 weeks now, am 15+4. It's only a little and might go couple of days without anything at mo but I'm sure that's only coz baby is still quite tiny. Wouldn't expect to be definitely counting on feeling movements every day for at least another 4 weeks or so, please try not to worry xx

Anyone else feeling a bit run down? I've had 3 colds, plus a tummy upset, mouth ulcers and cold sores in past 4 weeks. Now got sinus infection. Don't think I've had this much wrong with me over the past decade or more!! Certainly not in last pregnancy. Just don't seem to be able to shake things off.

BlueSky1980 · 09/12/2017 16:43

Hi everyone, I’m 19 weeks + 4 & still cannot feel proper movements. I’ve had some fluttering when quiet in bed but it’s very intermittent & not got stronger since I first noticed it weeks ago. I’m not too worried as bump is growing, I’m hoping I’ll feel more soon. I have my 20 week scan this coming Friday so fingers crossed all is ok. I can’t wait!
