Hi, I'm new to the pregnancy board. I've just found out that I am pregnant with my 2nd (4 weeks today) and the NHS calculator says all being well I will be due around 12th May.

I couldn't see any threads for May yet - anyone just found out and want to join me?

DS has just turned 7 so I'm a bit rusty on this whole pregnancy thing!

Thank you Nats that’s so good to hear! I’m totally in two minds about it all!

nats1017 · 23/10/2017 22:27

@ladypug Personally I would go for it. I felt the same when I had booked mine and wondered if it was silly but I was thrilled as soon as I saw that little bean shape and heartbeat! It’s made the last couple of weeks much more enjoyable xx

LadyPug · 23/10/2017 22:32

Great! Thank you for replying, I really appreciate it!

Hannahf89 · 24/10/2017 13:01

@LadyPug I'll second to go for it. It does feel like a lot of money, but for the reassurance it's so worth it. I'm not sure about everyone else, but we seem to be saving quite a bit of money at the moment as all I want to do is lie on the couch and eat toast! Hope you get it sorted...

Gaeilge · 24/10/2017 13:48

Thanks @BlueSky1980 I'm excited, terrified, anxious and happy all at the same time I'm mostly stressed about affording a bigger place and manoevering a double buggy around the streets of London but hey ho I'm sure it will all be fine :)
P.S. I've increased my meditation that's for sure!

Kit17 · 24/10/2017 13:48

Eek! Going to tell my mum today and I'm really nervous! No idea why! Blush

McTootBlowsOnHisBagpipe · 24/10/2017 15:54

Eek @Kit17 she'll be thrilled I'm sure! But I know what you mean, I'm nervous about telling my parents too but have no idea why.

I have my scan tomorrow. I've lost sleep over it for the last 2 nights. I'm worried something is wrong (there's no reason why it should be), I had a scan at 6 weeks but that seems like a lifetime ago.

LadyPug · 24/10/2017 15:58

Good luck Mctoot I think we all feel that way! The long wait is enerving isn’t it?! I’ve just cracked and booked an early scan this weekend!

BlueSky1980 · 24/10/2017 18:26

Good luck @Kit17! I hope it goes well. I do think telling parents is a big deal, no matter how old we are, but I am sure your mum will be positive.

How exciting @LadyPug. I don’t blame you for getting an early scan, it’s money well spent if it puts your mind at rest. Waiting for the 12 week scan can seem impossible in those early days.

Good luck too @Mctoot. It’s natural to be nervous, it’s so exciting / nerve wracking at the same time.

By the way my bump has suddenly grown today - I just got changed after work & was shocked at it sticking out at me! I finally look more pregnant than just a bit podgy in the tummy! Smile

McTootBlowsOnHisBagpipe · 24/10/2017 18:47

Thanks everyone I'm very excited at the same time as being nervous. I've suddenly got a bump too @bluesky1980, with my previous pregnancies I had nothing until quite far gone.

Glad you've booked a scan @ladypug, exciting weekend for you! As we said earlier the wait until the 12 week scan feels like an age.

Sarahpall · 24/10/2017 21:29

@BlueSky1980 same due date, it's such a relief seeing them an their heartbeat.

Iv been feeling really drained and emotional still 😢

Sarahpall · 24/10/2017 21:31

@sewsewmum glad your partner is being supportive, mine is too. Feel like I need it at the moment

LadyPug · 24/10/2017 21:36

Thank you McToot so pleased I finally did it! I got the last space available this week but have to go alone! DH said go without him as it’s to put my mind at rest and he’s happy to wait for nhs one - nervous! Eeek!

Kit17 · 25/10/2017 18:54

As expected, my mum was thrilled - she's looking at knitting patterns already!

Booking in appt tomorrow and presumably a scan within the next few weeks. I'm not nervous, but still slightly convinced that we'll get to the scan and they'll say it's all in my head! I don't seem to have many symptoms (if any, really!) so sometimes I think I'm imagining the blue line! Shock

McTootBlowsOnHisBagpipe · 25/10/2017 19:14

@Kit17, yay for knitted baby clothes!

My scan was amazing and so nice to see a very lively baby on the screen and my dates were only out by one day so I'm now due May 8th. I'll be telling my older children this weekend, which I'm very excited about.

shesthemama · 25/10/2017 22:27

Ahh exciting I have my daring scan tomorrow Grin also very nervous just in case I’m making it up and there’s no baby Blush due date at the moment is the 7th may so wonder how much it will change!!!

BlueSky1980 · 26/10/2017 10:14

Yay @McTootBlowsOnHisBagpipe! It’s brilliant isn’t it!

@shesthemama good luck!

@Kit17 double yay for knitted baby clothes! Smile

LadyPug · 26/10/2017 10:42

Good luck shesthemama

Kit17 · 26/10/2017 11:05

Booking in appt done (10 weeks) & is worked out my due date spot on. Now I just have to wait for my scab letter! Completely failed to have bloods done though - seems my needle phobia is going to be an even bigger issue than I predicted! Confused

LadyPug · 26/10/2017 17:15

Hey Kit major needle phobic here too. Luckily I’ve got the same midwife from last time and she knows! So when I turned up this time I walked in and she took blood immediately, before we really spoke! I hate it at the 12 week scan as the hospital never care when I tell them how bad I am!

Mayah · 26/10/2017 17:36

Oh God bloods!! I've got my booking appointment this coming Monday. Last time I had a blood test, I was so scared I laughed till I cried for about 10 minutes. I hate needles, on top of that I cannot stomach the sight of blood so it's double whammy

LadyPug · 26/10/2017 17:56

Blood is my big one mayah I went 16 years without a blood test before pregnancy and ended up having cbt to overcome blood phobia! It really helped but now I’m back to square one!

Kit17 · 26/10/2017 21:35

@LadyPug interesting to hear that CBT helped you - I've been referred for it but am still waiting for an appointment. Confused I find it really hard because I think a lot of people don't realise how serious it is when it's a proper phobia. Sad The midwife today was brilliant through and really understanding. She was a stand in though, so fingers crossed my regular one is just as good.

LadyPug · 26/10/2017 21:46

I’m not going to lie, cbt was really really hard! I’ve had this phobia all of my life, like you say nobody understands. Everyone’s afraid of needles or blood etc but no I’m BAD. I can faint if someone talks about blood! What they made me do in cbt started with watching videos about blood, veins etc on you tube then moved on to him pricking his finger and I had to watch him bleed (fainted the first few times) then had to prick my own finger and make myself bleed!!! He gave me like 10 pins to do it every day as homework. Was insane and I can’t believe I actually did it!!! But you have to keep up the exposure therapy (I didn’t!) and I’ve basically reverted! I know I have it in me though!

Gaeilge · 27/10/2017 09:05

Anyone else feeling particularly depressed my mood is the lowest it's every been and really hard to pull myself out of it I'm 9 week approx will this get better?

Cheers.
