Hi, I'm new to the pregnancy board. I've just found out that I am pregnant with my 2nd (4 weeks today) and the NHS calculator says all being well I will be due around 12th May.

I couldn't see any threads for May yet - anyone just found out and want to join me?

DS has just turned 7 so I'm a bit rusty on this whole pregnancy thing!

@hannahf89 I'm based in cornwall so may have to hunt a bit more around haha!

Yep, it's our first! Terrified and excited at the same time! Reading everything there is to read haha

87arshaw · 16/10/2017 20:20

Fanny daggers! Ha ha! Yes I too have this symptom but not often luckily

Featherf · 16/10/2017 21:01

@DancerMumma Hi there theres a place in Truro that do it for £60 I has half tempted but DP wanted to wait so didn’t go ahead in the end but they have some great reviews.

Hannahf89 · 17/10/2017 12:56

@MilfordFound Fanny daggers Grin That sums them up exactly! My boobs have also grown - I now have 2 in my bra and 2 that stick out the top. Need to get new bras soon but don't know when/if they'll stop growing!

LittlePea18 · 17/10/2017 13:30

MilfordFound Fanny Daggers Grin That's the best name to described them! I get them every day, usually around the same time. Weird.

ziggymarl · 18/10/2017 14:17

@Hannahf89 I also had a private scan on Sunday and it was the most reassuring thing ever. Like you said, anything can happen but I had been so worried as I haven't been eating enough and throwing up so much.

On my third week of all day nausea right now and I'm 8w6d, when will it staaaaaappppppppp 🤢🤢🤢🤢

Hannahf89 · 18/10/2017 18:51

@ziggymarl I was worried for the opposite reasons - overeating and hadn't been sick once! Thought my lack of symptoms were a bad sign. Glad everything was ok and it does feel more real now.

MilfordFound · 18/10/2017 22:45

Yes I have the 4 boob thing too! Argh. I'm going to get some new bras sooner rather than later I think. I'm uncomfortably squashed at the moment.

I think it can be a bit of a giveaway too. I'm trying to hold my stomach in and camouflage it with loose clothes, I really should do the same for my boobs.

Can't wait til scan is done and dusted then I can relax and let my stomach stick out. I know it's mainly cake chubb but it looks like a proper bump already.

BlueSky1980 · 19/10/2017 21:06

How exciting that some of you are getting early scans! I’m now 12 weeks & have my NHS dating scan on this coming Monday 23rd (eeek!) I agree with all of you the first 10 weeks or so were weird as it just didn’t feel like anything could be growing inside me (except the sore boobs, constipation & 9pm bedtime!!) However suddenly at 11 ish weeks I started feeling it. Tummy has deleloped a definite bump & I discovered the BEST THINGS EVER - maternity skinny jeans!!! (In case you can’t tell this is my first!) They are a total game changer & make my working day so much more comfortable (ebay approx £2 to £7 a pair) - they are soooo soft & stretchy & have made my week!!!
I’m still constantly hungry & eating like a pig, but still running (plodding slowly) 3 miles every morning. I’ve started doing pelvic floor exercises for fear of wetting myself when running Shock.. I couldn’t even find my pelvic floor muscles initially so not a good start!
Fingers staying crossed for healthy sticky beans for everyone.

Kit17 · 19/10/2017 22:59

My boobs haven't grown at all (phew!) and other than constipation and tiredness I feel completely normal. For a couple of weeks I was dizzy and having cramps but now basically no symptoms. Weird! Then yesterday, a colleague asked if I was pregnant! Apparently something in the way I stand! Another colleague (who knows) also said they could start to see a bump - although that might be because she's expecting to see one. Surely not yet?! I'm only 9 weeks!

BlueSky1980 · 20/10/2017 10:06

@Kit17

  • a (very observant) colleague of mine apparently asked my line manager if I was pregnant about 3 weeks ago (so I would have been about 9 weeks) - apparently he noticed a change in my tummy (i.e it had got fat!!!) so you are probably not imagining it - especially if you are small like me (at only 5 foot 2 there’s less space for it to go!!)

Don’t panic it won’t be long before you can embace it & let that tummy out in all it’s glory!! P.S honestly maternity jeans are amazing & from the outside they just look like normal skinny jeans so noone knows but me!!

BlueSky1980 · 20/10/2017 10:09

P.S
@MilfordFound - I’ve got my scan this coming Monday too (although I’ll be nearly 13 weeks by then). I can’t wait - but like you very nervous too. Good luck. I’ll have my fingers crossed for everyone.

BlueSky1980 · 20/10/2017 10:13

P.P.S haha love fanny daggers (the phrase not the actual pain!) I thought it was just me!!

MilfordFound · 20/10/2017 17:47

Fanny daggers is one of my all time favourite phrases Grin and despite the stabby pain I'm delighted to be able to use it again!

JC30 · 20/10/2017 18:02

Haha, all this talk of fanny daggers is making me chuckle Thankfully I haven’t experienced it yet...and really hoping it stops for those of you who have! Completely on the same page as those of you who are already showing. I’m 11 weeks and my belly is sticking out already - I’m running out of baggy tops & dresses to wear, and have already ordered some maternity jeans because I keep having to unbutton mine Amazing that you’re running 3 miles every day @BlueSky1980! That’s brilliant. What exercise are others doing? I’ve been doing some prenatal Pilates videos but getting a bit bored of them already and want to try and keep exercising throughout the pregnancy

Sarahpall · 20/10/2017 21:59

Hi all,
I seem a bit late to the group.
I'm due 1st May with my second baby, my first is 5.5yrs
I'm with a different partner to my first An this pregnancy seems hard work, that or I forgot what it was like first time.
P.s fanny daggers 😂 the phrase not the actual pain

BlueSky1980 · 21/10/2017 07:03

I wouldn’t be too impressed with my running @JC30 - it really is just a slow plod, but it keeps me sane!
I’d be interested in hearing what other ladies are doing for exercise too, I’m sure at some point running will become too uncomfortable so will need some new pregnancy exercise inspiration (Unfortunately I’m not a fan of yoga or pilates - although I totally understand the benefits).
Apparently the book by Professor Greg Whyte (you know, the guy who trains all the celebs to do mad fitness challenges) called ‘Bump it Up’ is a great guide for exercise / fitness in pregnancy - but I’ve not looked at it myself.

scoutcat · 21/10/2017 07:14

@Kit17 I’ve had the exact same thing! 9 weeks today and my colleague who knows has spotted my belly, and another had suspected I was pregnant! Surely my bump is just bloat?!

PatchworkWellies · 21/10/2017 13:57

Re. Exercise, I swam every week during last pregnancy which I really enjoyed and felt the benefit of. Am doing same this time. Last time I also did Body Balance which is stretching based on Pilates but less breathing/mind stuff. I found that great but can't fit it in this time round with childcare

LadyPug · 21/10/2017 14:18

Hey everyone, I lost this thread but found it again! Hope everyone is ok

Hannahf89 · 21/10/2017 18:28

I'd like some exercise ideas too. I'm not sure how vigorous you can exercise and I keep meaning to read up on it but then I feel too tired to do anything anyway. I've just been going for long walks at the weekend as a way of doing something.

Has everybody had their booking in appointments? I'm 9 weeks today and still haven't heard about when mine is Confused

LadyPug · 21/10/2017 18:30

Hey Hannah I think booking in is supposed to happen between weeks 8-10 so maybe chase up? I had mine last week at 8 weeks but my scan is forever away, over 3 weeks still to wait!

Featherf · 21/10/2017 22:16

@Hannahf89 I had mine done this week i thought i was 9 weeks as of the nhs calculator but she said i was 10 weeks so bow even mire confused! Just think the longer you wait for booking in appointment the less time you wait for your scan.

JC30 · 21/10/2017 23:15

Thanks for the book tip @BlueSky1980 Just had a look on amazon & it’s got loads of glowing reviews. I might get myself a copy & just hope that the will-power & self-discipline will come with it! I also live round the corner from a swimming pool so might take that up for a bit of variety. @Hannahf89 I only just had my booking appointment this week and I’m 11 weeks along, but they did book my scan there & then for a couple of weeks’ time which was a relief

JC30 · 21/10/2017 23:18

Oh also, are you ladies having your flu jabs? I got mine done today because my doctor urged me to but I hadn’t had time to read anything about it so presume it was the right decision to make Hmm
