Hi, I'm new to the pregnancy board. I've just found out that I am pregnant with my 2nd (4 weeks today) and the NHS calculator says all being well I will be due around 12th May.

I couldn't see any threads for May yet - anyone just found out and want to join me?

DS has just turned 7 so I'm a bit rusty on this whole pregnancy thing!

Hi @lottiec1 and @Mayah - I know what you mean, it’s our first too. We agreed to let our immediate families know fairly quickly, simply because, in the event that something were to go wrong, we didn’t want me being rushed to hospital to be the first they heard of it. I told my mum straight away but she didn’t take it too well; don’t take that to heart though - I hadn’t much hope she would. The OH then took another week to pluck up the courage to tell his parents and brother, and they were delighted. I’ve since told my brother and he’s really supportive and is talking my Mum round... gradually Wink

Needmorehands · 06/10/2017 16:57

We haven't told our families yet, and its going to be an interesting conversation as our 4th will be 6 by the time this one arrives! Its fairly obvious it took us by surprise so I'm a bit nervous about their reactions tbh. Fortunately I've stuck to my previous pattern of not being sicky, just wanting to sleep all day!, so work hasn't noticed even though I work in a kitchen! Hope the feeling lousy clears up quickly for those badly affected

Kit17 · 06/10/2017 19:32

@lottiec1 I'm planning on giving my mum a knitting pattern and telling her she needs to get busy! 😂

McTootBlowsOnHisBagpipe · 07/10/2017 08:00

Needmorehands this is my 4th too with a very similar age gap. I do wonder about my parents reaction, they'll be pleased but I'm sure they'll be wondering what on earth were we thinking.

McTootBlowsOnHisBagpipe · 07/10/2017 08:01

Oh just noticed you already have 4! Sorry, I read your post about 3 times and still got it wrong.

lottiec1 · 07/10/2017 10:35

Actually went really well telling them!! OH polished off best part of a bottle of red before we got there he was so worried ha. Safe to say they were both flabbergasted but excited!! Loads of worrying for nothing xx

LadyPug · 07/10/2017 11:21

Is anybody else finding the pregnancy moving soooo slowly? I'm like come onnnnn first trimester! Be over already!!!

Hannahf89 · 07/10/2017 12:02

@LadyPug yes! I'm 7 weeks today and can't believe I've only known for 2.5 weeks - seems like forever. Do you think everything will accelerate after the 12 week scan?

LadyPug · 07/10/2017 12:08

Definitely Hannah last time first trimester was so slow then pregnancy whizzed by then last two weeks were the worst of all!!!! It dragged! This is the worst bit as we feel so rough! Every minute feels like an hour. Surely someone in the group must have an imminent scan date - once that happens we all seem to move along faster!

DareToDream89 · 07/10/2017 12:41

I'm 8 weeks tomorrow and have know for the last 3 weeks although it feels more like 3 months!!! I have my booking appointment with the midwife on 16th and hope my scan date will come quickly after that! DH has finally agreed to let me tell my parents, it will be there first grandchild and I'm just so excited to tell them xx

rasberryandlime · 07/10/2017 15:23

@LadyPug I have my 12 week scan booked for 27th October, although will probably end up needing another early scan before if bleeding continues to check if my bleed is getting smaller. Cannot believe I'm only 9 weeks, has felt like an entirety just getting this far with the constant worry!

McTootBlowsOnHisBagpipe · 07/10/2017 15:43

@LadyPug yes!!!!! I feel like I've been pregnant for ages, but I'm only 9 weeks. I got the date for my scan today but I'm going to have to change it as we're on holiday, which is a shame.

nats1017 · 07/10/2017 19:49

We haven’t had our date through for our 12 week scan yet and as we are due to go on holiday at 13 weeks we decided to book an early scan to see baby and make sure all is ok. Had the scan today with dates having us at 8+3 and Baby Pip has measured at 9 weeks with a strong heartbeat of 176bpm! So pleased we booked an early scan and lovely to see baby already ☺️ Very happy mummy to be!

@nats1017 congrats on your scan, must be a great feeling to see everything is ok. We have ours next weekend, excited and nervous at the same time.

nats1017 · 07/10/2017 21:12

Thanks @hannahf89 ! Good luck! It’s so nice to come away knowing everything’s going well! I was very nervous before going and had some tears of relief when we saw the little heartbeat! Makes things much more real and exciting! ☺️

LadyPug · 07/10/2017 21:30

I'm so glad scans are starting to come through! It makes all the feeling crap worth it! (Well sort of, currently sat on the sofa feeling sorry for myself feeling sick and with the worst heartburn!!!) congrats Nat

nats1017 · 07/10/2017 21:37

Thankyou @LadyPug hope you feel better soon x

mumbanator · 07/10/2017 22:38

Congratulations @nats1017 (not sure if you mind but your name and dob are visible on your scan, just saying in case you do)

BlueSky1980 · 08/10/2017 10:10

Hi everyone! Congratulations & sorry some of you are feeling terrible.
I’m due very early May (ish). Got my scan booked for 2 weeks time (23rd Oct). Can’t wait because it doesn’t feel real yet!
Luckily no morning sickness for me & been lucky that I have continued with getting up at 6am to go running (well plodding) most mornings. I just have a constant hunger! I need to snack every couple of hours or feel shaky. Am stocking the fridge with healthy snacks so I don’t put on excessive weight!! I’m only 5 foot 2 & someone said I looked pregnant at work last week!! No proper bump yet but tummy definitely getting bigger / fatter! It’s getting hard to find clothes that hide it (my jeans are TIGHT!) Anyone else having this already??
(I’m nearly 11 weeks, so seems early to be starting to show!!) Maybe I’m just eating too much!

I feel good all day but going to bed exhausted by 8:30 - 9:00pm!!

@lottiec1 - we are telling the inlaws for FIL birthday weekend at end of Oct. Going to wrap scan photo at the end of a series of sucessively smaller birthday boxes - he’s going to be SO excited (everyone had given up on us having kids - we are in our late-ish 30’s)!

Told our best friends this week as had used up every excuse under the sun for not drinking since end of August & the lies were stressing me out.

Good luck everyone & fingers crossed for sticky healthy beans!

BlueSky1980 · 08/10/2017 10:23

P.S you might all already know this, but yesterday The Husband discovered de-caf version of Nescafe Azera coffee (arguably the only half decent de-caf instant coffee). It’s pretty good & currently half price in Tesco! Smile

Hairgician · 08/10/2017 10:35

My dating scan is booked for 23rd Oct. Sickness back under control for now. Been able to eat better yest and hopefully today. A few of my clients now know as I've had to 're book everyone or put them in with other stylists. So far they've been understanding but I can't afford to take more time off or I will end up with no clients!

Hannahf89 · 08/10/2017 11:20

@BlueSky1980 I'm really missing my coffee so will pick some of that up - thanks for the tip. Now just need to find some alcohol free gin Grin

Are you feeling bloated? I've been really bloated recently which has given me a sticky out belly. I'm 7+1 so definitely too early to be showing. Has anyone noticed bigger boobs? I've outgrown my bras already - i just spill out of the top. Need to buy some new ones but don't want to be buying them every week. I already had big boobs so didn't want them to grow...

BlueSky1980 · 08/10/2017 11:36

@Hairgician exciting! Our scans are on the same day! Good luck!

@Hannahf89 apparently alcohol free gin does exist(!?) it’s expensive though! I pour myself an iced sparkling water & try to pretend it’s g&t!!

Not too bloated now but was a bit earlier on (a bit constipated now tho - sorry if too much info!!) Think my tummy has just got fat!

My boobs were hardly visible before - a very poor a-cup. I live in sports bras usually! They are much bigger & sore now. Definitely need new bras!

Kit17 · 08/10/2017 11:42

I can't decide whether I'm bloated or just eating too much.... I suspect probably the latter!

No boob issues yet - they're a tiny bit tender but not painful or growing. Long may this continue!

Hannahf89 · 08/10/2017 18:41

@BlueSky1980 I've tried alcohol free wine, bit it was a bit disappointing and not that cheap either. I've had some nice mocktails today so not feeling at such a loss.

My boobs hurt in the evening when I take my bra off, just feel so sore and I keep getting erect nipples at work Blush
