Hi, I'm new to the pregnancy board. I've just found out that I am pregnant with my 2nd (4 weeks today) and the NHS calculator says all being well I will be due around 12th May.

I couldn't see any threads for May yet - anyone just found out and want to join me?

DS has just turned 7 so I'm a bit rusty on this whole pregnancy thing!

I was the same with the sickness, ended up being signed off for 2 weeks. just be kind to yourself and so what is right for you.

LadyPug · 04/10/2017 13:17

Same here! So bloody sick. I'm self employed but very busy and book in advance so booked up the month of October. Barely got through today's coffee with a customer, just smelling the coffee was making me urge! Just want to go to bed :-(

LadyPug · 04/10/2017 13:36

Hi Anna,

I think we're all a bit too early stage for that, we're not even 12 weeks yet! Thank you though!

rasberryandlime · 04/10/2017 20:18

@McTootBlowsOnHisBagpipe thanks for sharing, really reassuring to know I'm not the only one :)

Kit17 · 04/10/2017 21:29

Does anyone else have a really itchy tummy? All my clothes are really irritating me!!

sewsewmum · 05/10/2017 11:58

Just got my scan date through and I'm bouncing off of the walls. I'm having it on 3 November at 11+6. Really chuffed as the other half might not have been to be able to make it the following two weeks because of staff shortages at work. So grateful to East Surrey hospital for taking my little post-it note into account!

lottiec1 · 05/10/2017 13:14

@sewsewmum aww amazing!! Bet you can't wait..I'm a little jealous though. I've just got mine through for 13th Nov. I'll be 13+ 3 so an extra week of secrets for us 🙈 xx

PatchworkWellies · 05/10/2017 13:30

@sewsewmum, East Surrey is my local too! Not seeing midwife until next week tho so no scan date for a bit.

Mayah · 05/10/2017 13:49

@sewsewmum @lottiec1 awww congrats! That gives you something to look forward too! I'm seeing my GP tomorrow. I've just registered with a new GP so I have to have an induction appointment where the nurse takes bloods and urine tests (Not quite sure why, I didn't mention I was pregnant). But I hope we can get the ball rolling tomorrow.

Hannahf89 · 05/10/2017 16:06

I rang the centre where I'm having my first midwife appointment next week to see how long it would be. They said 10 minutes! Is that right? I've read that some people are in for an over an hour. Confused

sewsewmum · 05/10/2017 16:21

Thanks ladies! My symptoms appear to have disappeared over the last week or so, so I was becoming nervous about whether things were still happening in there. This has put s spring back in my step though!

@lottiec1 That must feel like ages away and it is getting harder and harder to keep it quiet! You should see the DP's face every time he thinks we're about to get found out - it's hilarious!

Yay @PatchworkWellies! Another East Surrey mum! I had my first appointment with a midwife called Kelly last week and she was lovely!

Good luck tomorrow @Mayah. I'd drink lots beforehand if I were you, just in case you need to give twice as much urine and blood for your pregnancy tests whilst you're there Confused

sewsewmum · 05/10/2017 17:53

Try not to worry @Hannahf89. My first appointment wasn't much longer than that - just long enough to take urine and blood samples, be weighed and answer some basic questions. I've got an appointment in a couple of weeks time which be over an hour long and go through everything in more detail. The first, short one just gives them the chance to check for diabetes, hepatitis, blood type and a load of other things before getting into further detail.

Hannahf89 · 05/10/2017 18:30

@sewsewmum thanks, that's reassuring. I really wish I'd saved more annual leave for all these appointments! Did you get your scan date before even having the long midwife appointment then?

sewsewmum · 05/10/2017 19:04

I know, it can be really tricky. I got the application form for my scan during that first, short appointment so sent it off straight away.

PatchworkWellies · 05/10/2017 19:54

@sewsewmum, wish I'd known that...my first appointment is 20 mins which I thought was short compared to 45 mins first appointment last time round. Didn't expect a longer one next (assume since in same area will b offered the same!) Husband is working from home to look after son but I wish I'd saved the childcare for longer appt as he can't keep doing it!

sewsewmum · 05/10/2017 20:05

I'm only speaking from my experience @PatchworkWellies but, given we're in the same district, it might be the same. I've got to go to Oxted for my next appointment and I think the letter said it'll be about 1-1.5 hours. But it should be the only time I need to go there.

Needmorehands · 05/10/2017 20:29

Lots of catching up to do here, I should check in more often!
Had booking in appt today so all official, got scan date for 25th Oct - which is perfect as DH is working from home that week, and its before the family weekend away for my Dad's birthday when it will be VERY noticeable that I'm not drinking! :) now I just have to find friends that all
the DC can go and play with for an hour that day!

Needmorehands · 05/10/2017 20:30

Hannhf89 - you are legally entitled to time off for antenatal appts, you shouldn't be using any annual leave

Hannahf89 · 05/10/2017 20:44

@Needmorehands I didn't realise that about antenatal appointments. I've not told anyone at work yet so think I'll have to take the first few as leave. We're not telling anyone until the 12 week scan.

You must be excited to have your scan booked in and the timing is good too. I'm really running out of excuses for not drinking!

sewsewmum · 05/10/2017 20:53

One word for you @Hannahf89 - STOPTOBER Smile

lottiec1 · 06/10/2017 10:16

Has anybody in here told their parents already? We're planning on telling them this weekend, it's our first and I'm really nervous telling my dad for some reason. I know he'll be happy, my sister already has 2 kids but I feel like a 6 year old having to confess to something naughty (I'm 32) 😳. How are people planning on doing it?! X

LadyPug · 06/10/2017 10:23

Hey Lottie told my dad under really bad circumstances as he had to look after DD so we could have a scan to check on baby after I was bleeding, not the best circumstances! Last time I told him by telling him we had front row tickets to an amazing event and handing him my scan photo. He looked at it, turned it upside down then said "I'm confused! What is the event?!" Hahahaha

Mayah · 06/10/2017 10:54

@lottiec1 I've just been having this conversation with my husband this morning Grin this is my first time too and it just seems like such an awkward thing to come out with, like you said, feel like a naughty kid haha.

AlexsMum89 · 06/10/2017 12:52

Ladies who are really struggling with sickness and being signed off work etc - has your GP tried you with anti-sickness medication? There are a lot of ladies being helped by different types of tablets and it's so worth it. I'm on cyclizine and after 2 days of not being able to work and a further week or so of really struggling, I asked for help and the tablets are keeping me off the floor! I still feel sick, but its much more manageable.
If you've already tried tablets then I'm sorry it's so bad Flowers and fingers crossed it doesn't last much longer for any of us x
