Hi, I'm new to the pregnancy board. I've just found out that I am pregnant with my 2nd (4 weeks today) and the NHS calculator says all being well I will be due around 12th May.

I couldn't see any threads for May yet - anyone just found out and want to join me?

DS has just turned 7 so I'm a bit rusty on this whole pregnancy thing!

I'm planning on doing the second CB test in the pack I bought last week to see it go from 2-3 weeks to 3+. 😬 Thankfully they only come in packs of two, otherwise I'd find it really hard not to keep testing!

Elvi1 · 27/09/2017 07:48

Kit17 it's good that you are feeling laid back about it as I don't think there's any problem in not seeing someone until 10 weeks - I'm sure you can arrange to see someone earlier if anything changes which gives you any cause for concern.

I haven't self-referred myself for my booking in appointment yet, I thought I'd wait until I am 6+ weeks next week.

Really sorry to read about the recent losses - I've been there twice (although I'm sure the second mc was due to trying too soon after my mmc). Although early miscarriages are so normal and common, it doesn't make you feel any better - from the moment you miss your period it consumes all of your mind and a few weeks feels like a few months so it's all the more heartbreaking.

Hi milog congratulations and fingers crossed feeling rubbish is a good sign. Think it's impossible not to feel paranoid and anxious. We just have to ride it out.

Can I ask for your tips on helping with morning sickness? Mines kicked in big time and I start my new job on Monday. Need to control the urge to vomit!

I'm a serial tester too. I bought a load of cheap ones online so figured I may as well use them up! Is anybody else still charting temperatures (if they did before). I am just because I read somewhere that if it drops it could be a bad sign. It's also a bit of a habit now.

@readysetcake I've not experienced morning sickness yet. I'm 5+4. I've stocked up on ginger nuts and crystalised ginger just in case though, they're supposed to help

MumRuns77 · 27/09/2017 12:06

@Hannahf89 I chart my temperature too (when I'm not rushing out of bed to see why my toddler is up early). I use the Natural Cycles app which I've found great. I only had four cycles between stopping breastfeeding and getting pregnant again so I'm not sure I'd have spotted my ovulation without Natural Cycles. It recommends monitoring temp through pregnancy just as you've heard.

Featherf · 27/09/2017 12:24

@readysetcake ive had bad morning sickness i eat a ginger biscuit whenever feeling nausea and it goes for a couple of hours. I now have packets stashed everywhere including in my draw at work and next to my bed for during the night! I hope it helps and gets better for you!

PatchworkWellies · 27/09/2017 13:06

Hi all, I'm 5+2 today. This is 2nd pregnancy (have 1 son). Feeling nervous like many of you have said. Re. morning sickness, I find nibbling on small snacks the best - usually savoury - e.g. bread sticks, crisps (always want salt & vinegar!) cheese, hummus, crackers, dry cereal, ginger biscuits.

Also find sipping hot water or warm ginger cordial (belvoir do an amazing one!) helps.

ziggymarl · 27/09/2017 13:35

Congrats to all the BFP's!!

I'm currently 6weeks + 5days, praying it all goes well!

Due May 18th ☺️

So far the symptoms I've had are tender breasts, hard nipples, restless sleep, find I am more hungry in the mornings and fatigue.

Wondering when the sickness will kick in, not looking forward 🤢

readysetcake · 27/09/2017 14:57

Thanks for the morning sickness advice. I'll have to stock up on snacks to get me through work next week. Good job I love giver biscuits! Would be such a bad start to be ill in the first day 😬

Hi to the people just joining us 😊

Hannahf89 · 27/09/2017 16:05

@MumRuns77 I use the fertility friends one. I started doing it 2 months ago and realised that i ovulated later than I thought so we'd been trying at the wrong time of the month since Feb! First cycle after realising this I got my BFP. As I'm not the only one doing I'll continue measuring my temps!

smu06set · 27/09/2017 18:50

ziggymarl due date twin! Have you been to the doctors yet?

ziggymarl · 27/09/2017 20:01

@smu06set yay! 👋🏽

I went to see my GP on Thursday, it was a very boring appointment with the doctor giving me out-of-date advice 🙄 anyway I've been referred to a hosp/midwife and am waiting for the booking appt. How about you?!

LittlePea18 · 27/09/2017 23:20

Hello everyone!!

I'm back from getting married and whatnot Grin

It has been mental, I've been wanting to post for ages but haven't had the time of energy!!

Congrats to all the BFPs.

This may sound a little mad and maybe sad (ooh, that rhymes) but I feel a little envious of all the peeps who were going through the motion of TTC as mine was a complete accident (a very happy one though)! I used to love being caught up in the months journey of all the during stages before toy tested and people would wish you luck and stuff.
Saying that, I'm am very grateful to be on the May 2018 bus all the same Smile

So how is everyone feeling?

I'm 7 weeks, I had my first MW appointment today (although the silly lady at reception booked me in for the short appointment instead of the 80min one - never mind). She gave me tons of just to fill in and then I got for all my blood test and stuff next week.

💛 LP xxxx

weaselwomble · 28/09/2017 00:33

Hello all. Meant to join this thread last week after BFP and then forgot.
5+3 now, online calculators saying due 28th May. Which is a bit of a nightmare as it's the back end of exam period (2nd year mature student) so I'm going to have to speak to uni and see what they suggest.
I'm really nervous ATM, feel like something will go wrong but it's my first so I'm hoping it's normal and you lovely lot will reassure me.
Only a little bit of sickness so far thank god but the heartburn is something else. I'm also boiling and as of yesterday full of trapped wind Blush I can blame that on pregnancy right? Grin

Featherf · 28/09/2017 08:32

Hi all, had the call from midwife yesterday for my booking in appointment i will be 10+1 when i have it.

Im due an operation on my foot had all the pre op tests just waiting on a date for op. The doctors don’t seem bothered I’m pregnant and said wait till I get my op date then tell the surgeon and have near enough 4 weeks till I see the midwife to tell her. Any advice?

sewsewmum · 28/09/2017 13:47

Congratulations @LittlePea18! I hope the avoidance of alcohol wasn't too tough in the end!

I had my first midwife appointment this morning. Nothing too scary - just filling out some basic paperwork and taking urine and blood samples (4 vials of blood though!!).

Have got another appointment in about three weeks which will be the one where we go through all the medical history and what-not.

Needmorehands · 28/09/2017 19:53

ziggymarl keep your fingers crossed, I've never had a sicky pregnancy and this is number 5! Although sometimes it feels like nothing is happening which can be very paranoia inducing

Bunnyfluffy · 28/09/2017 20:05

Spoke to midwife today to arrange booking in appointment - I'll be 11+2.

The exhaustion is astounding - I'm already in bed. Really struggling.

I'm working abroad next week (for 2 days) and I'm nervous.

LadyPug · 28/09/2017 20:08

Oh bunny I can't believe you're going abroad, you're amazing! I've had the week off work (planned thankfully so not sudden) but am very pleased to have a week off to deal with sickness and fatigue) I don't know how ppl cope with train journeys and going abroad?!

rasberryandlime · 28/09/2017 20:25

@LadyPug how did your early scan go?

Bunnyfluffy · 28/09/2017 20:33

My commute is almost 1.5 hours each way (30 min cycle, 50 min train, 10 min cycle). It almost finished me off yesterday so I drove to the station today. Will work from home tomorrow.

LadyPug · 28/09/2017 20:33

It went ok thanks raspberry we saw the baby but since then quite a bit of bleeding. Hopefully all is ok!

Bunnyfluffy · 28/09/2017 20:36

Fingers crossed for you LadyPug

LadyPug · 28/09/2017 21:06

Thank you Bunny
