Hi, I'm new to the pregnancy board. I've just found out that I am pregnant with my 2nd (4 weeks today) and the NHS calculator says all being well I will be due around 12th May.

I couldn't see any threads for May yet - anyone just found out and want to join me?

DS has just turned 7 so I'm a bit rusty on this whole pregnancy thing!

Hi guys hope you don't mind me joining.

I'm pregnant with no2 around 5 weeks edd 23/05.

I had a difficult pregnancy and birth with my first who was very premature and I can't stop panicking that the worst will happen (although my first is fine now). Do you think it's worth booking a private scan early to ease my mind? How early can a heartbeat be detected? I know it's early days but last time my boobs were really sore and I had awful sickness but so far I'm just tired and had a few cramps. I don't 'feel' pregnant yet. Has anyone else had an early scan and has it gave them reassurance?

LadyPug · 19/09/2017 16:51

Hi random and welcome! I haven't had an early scan but many here have. But I just wanted to say, I've also had just fatigue and cramps and had sickness last time and am also 5 weeks so you're not alone!

mumbanator · 19/09/2017 19:02

Hello all please may I join? Due 9th May with #3. I was trying to be cool about it all and only did a test a few days ago, however I have intermittent cramps, sore boobs/nipples, feeling anxious about everything and have just booked a private reassurance scan today! Someone asked above about the heartbeat - it's from 6 weeks and if present the chance of a miscarriage is less than 5% (hence why I can't stick it out til 12 weeks). Anyone else feeling moody and fed up??

rasberryandlime · 19/09/2017 19:07

@RandomUser23 congratulations! I know exactly how you feel worrying about it having symptoms, I feel exactly the same but doctor said some people are just lucky and to enjoy it whilst it lasts!

I personally found an early scan very helpful in terms of knowing exactly what was happening, the clinic I went to said you can see a heartbeat from 5.5 weeks but to guarantee it you should wait until 7. I would say wait as long as you can so it doesn't cause any unnecessary worry if it's too early to see much, and also as although they're great, I found the scans only reassure me for the day I have them then I'm back to worrying again!!

I think if you can wait until 8 weeks and see a heartbeat this drops your chances of anything going wrong to really small, so I would wait until then if you can as I imagine it would be much more reassuring from that point.

rasberryandlime · 19/09/2017 19:07

*worrying about not having symptoms

rasberryandlime · 19/09/2017 19:09

@DareToDream89 @RandomUser23 @mumbanator welcome and congratulations :)

Bunnyfluffy · 19/09/2017 20:01

Is everyone avoiding hot baths? How hot can I have my bath (not enjoying tepid baths!)

MilfordFound · 19/09/2017 22:31

I called in sick yesterday, felt too terrible to go in. Pounding headache and bad morning sickness that the tablets couldn't shift. Went in today and told one of my colleagues, who had already guessed (so had the other one when I told her last week!) and she was super nice and said she had hyperemesis with her pregnancies so she understood. I'm so glad I only have 'normal' morning sickness, albeit all day all night morning sickness. Her description of hyperemesis was pretty hideous!

@raspberryandlime oh wow, what a rough few days. I'm glad that you've got some answers, the dates and the early test make sense now if the empty sac developed first before the other one. Hope the rest goes smoothly from now on!

Kit17 · 19/09/2017 22:36

Is anyone else absolutely ravenous?! Can't decide whether it's genuine or just in my head and an excuse to eat! Blush

InRainbows · 20/09/2017 06:07

I'm struggling with the bath situation too Bunny! I love to feel super hot in the bath! I am still having mine fairly hot just not to the point where it turns my skin red!

rasberryandlime · 20/09/2017 07:59

@Kit17 yes I can't stop eating chocolate, am starting to get a belly but all chocolate and no baby!!

Is anyone else getting period like pains, I have had them since yesterday, phoned the epu late afternoon and they said it's nothing to worry about if not bleeding and it's just the womb stretching but they're still there this morning, just a dull period like pain like I'm about to come on.

Also missing hot bath, I am also still having them, just cooler than I used too.

LadyPug · 20/09/2017 08:00

Hey Raspberry yes lots of period type pains here also! And back pain!

lornawood · 20/09/2017 08:13

Hi everyone, found out I'm pregnant about a week ago, 6 weeks along due in May. It was a total surprise, after battling with endometriosis resulting in several operations. The last one to save my life after the surgeon botched the one before, I was told there was no way I would ever conceive naturally due to excessive scarring. Well this little one didn't get that message! I have been scanned 3 times now and had bloods done a few time. EPU says everything is normal. I'm just crossing everything that this little one can hang on in there. I have no idea what to expect as I have never been pregnant before! Apart from taking vitamins that's all I have been told to do so any advice welcome. X

Xjo1992x · 20/09/2017 08:16

With a bath supposedly so long as you can get straight in it, so it's not so hot that you have to gently lower your self in, then it's fine.
You should maybe also keep some air circulating by having the door open or something

rasberryandlime · 20/09/2017 08:18

@lornawood congratulations! You must be over the moon after everything you've been through, what a blessing.

My only advice, although I am totally rubbish at it is to try and keep calm and relax - I would go for a scan everyday if someone could do it / i could afford it xx

rasberryandlime · 20/09/2017 08:18

@ladypug that's reassuring to know that you, they're making me really nervous

LadyPug · 20/09/2017 08:23

Welcome Lorna fellow endometriosis sufferer here - they said we most likely wouldn't be able to have kids, I'm pregnant with my second! Welcome :-)

Don't worry raspberry it's all totally normal :-)

forcookssake · 20/09/2017 10:14

Hi everyone! Please may I join you all? My dd is 11.5.18 but tbh I'm still in shock (in fact we found out a fortnight ago but I thought nothing would 'last' iyswim Blush )
Anyway, I've been losing weight as I was trying to access IVF on the NHS, then this little blue line surprised us both Shock
Anyway, hi everyone!!

lottiec1 · 20/09/2017 11:08

@LadyPug @lornawood hi girls, also an Endo sufferer!! Just wondering if either of you are having typical endo cramps? I'm really struggling with cramping (5+5) and wasn't sure if it's normal for this stage or if the Endo could be the culprit. Got first midwife appointment a week today so just trying to ease nerves before then 🙈 xx

DareToDream89 · 20/09/2017 11:13

Is anyone else suffering with nausea and complete exhaustion. I'm 5+3 and feel tired all the time! I got to work this morning and wanted to turn around and go back home, even my boss who I have hold said I didn't look great. I just want to curl up in bed and sleep. Is this normal? Xx

LadyPug · 20/09/2017 11:20

Hey lottie yes, this is normal, it's baby implanting I think so not endo related. I've had no Endo pain at all since having DD! It's amazing :-) I am getting cramping now but just the usual implantation cramps which is probably the same as you!

lornawood · 20/09/2017 12:37

Hey @lottiec1 yes I have still been getting endo cramps mine is on my left uteral sacral ligament. Right under my hip bone and is a familiar pain so I can kinda tell the difference. I have been getting crampy feelings in my uterus. I read this is a completely normal part of pregnancy as the uterus stretches and grows. It's nothing like my endo pain so at least that has given me a benchmark 😂

Hannahf89 · 20/09/2017 13:25

Hi everyone, we had a BFP yesterday after trying for 6 months. This is our first and I have such mixed emotions...obviously very happy but super nervous/worried too.

Symptoms I've had are cramping, tender breasts and so hungry. I did have a small amount of brown spotting a few days ago, I'm hoping it's implantation bleeding or just old blood (yuk!). Anyone else had this?

Loopylasso79 · 20/09/2017 17:29

Hi Ladies just found out today that I am 4 weeks pregnant due 27th May. I'm so anxious due to the fact I've had two losses at 13 and 15 weeks. I'm 37,38 in November and have a son who is 11. I'm overjoyed but really need to stop the worrying. Congratulations everyone.

DaisyMay25 · 20/09/2017 18:24
