Hi all....long story short. 39+5 with DC2. PainfulBH for 1.5 weeks, back pain, pooping....I could go on. I had a sweep almost a week ago, made me bleed a bit not much else. Was 2cm but still hard cervix. What is going on?? Any tips to get it going? We DTD this morning, heaps of RLT, I even pulled out the breast pump and have been using it intermittently. Will give another go later. I was induced 9 days late with my first. Please don't let that happen again!!!

Omg, it has been awful. I feel so ripped off. Surely the universe owes us at least a few weeks off the hook for what we went through with pregnancy, labour and birth!?!? Good news, the antibiotics are working so the affected breast is feeling much better.
Enjoy your last child free day/s 😂😀

Arrgh, well after contractions coming every 6mins, for 40 seconds DH & I were all set to go within the hour, MIL came over to babysit toddler....within the hour they'd tailed off. Went to bed around midnight and had them every half hour / 15mins or so. Up at 4.30am with toddler coughing his head off in an alarming way - eventually brought him down to the sofa at 5 where I'm had 1min contractions every 15mins.

So Sasmac2017 I offer my full sympathies at your family's ailments - looks like I'm in for a similar ride.
Helsybells - did the bumpy ride do anything?
DandySeaLioness - fingers crossed that last sweep does something in the next 24hrs.

I may as well get up and walk round, afterall can't sleep when feel DS is choking and the walking may help.

Here's hoping today is our day!....

helsybells · 03/09/2017 08:06

Sas so glad you're feeling a little better what a rough ride!

And you too TTT I'm sure things will start soon. I wonder if the stress/need of your little one being poorly curtailed it?

As for the bumpy ride. No help whatsoever!!! Yet another unconfrtanke experience for no good reason. Have just realised my sweep is Tuesday not Monday so think I will give it a go and if it works my parents will pick little one up from first day of school. At least I'll be able to take her in in the morning (assuming baby doesn't arrive to clash with it) and she loves it when my parents collect her.

sophiaslullaby · 03/09/2017 10:15

DS has gone to my in-laws for the day for the reason you say Helsybells -that he's a distraction (albeit such a sweet cuddly one!), at least I can concentrate on just me & my body now (without DS trying to drag me into his playtent or play sword fights with me!!!)

So bumpy car rides not a recommendation? Last pregnancy DH took me over a humpback bridge at a pace -without warning me! It did nothing but cause a tirade of abuse from me although appreciate his wfforts looking back Grin

Contractions are still 10mins apart -some painful some hardly noticeable.

DandySeaLioness · 03/09/2017 12:09

Anyone doing the labour inducing yoga dance? I'm tempted to try again, managed a couple of rounds and got really strong back pain/cramps a few hours later but it saps all the energy out of me so not tried again (plus DP is around and I feel silly doing it while he's watching!)

sophiejayne96 · 03/09/2017 13:16

So I've heard crawling around on hands and knees for as long as you can tolerate brings on labour.. Off I go! 😂 OH has nipped out to the shop and I feel like he's gonna walk in to me crawling around and laugh his head off.. lol. I feel like an idiot so at least if it does nothing, it'll give us both some amusement!

sophiejayne96 · 03/09/2017 13:53

Well he feels extremely low if anything.. from a mixture of walking up and down the stairs, crawling round on all fours and bouncing on my birthing ball. No contractions, just some little arms wiggling around near my hips as if to say mum what are you doing to me lol! Eviction notice!

helsybells · 03/09/2017 18:25

Oh thanks for the yoga dance tip Dandy - might give it a try tomorrow morning!! 👍Cue lookingblike a total plonker through a sheer desperation!

Would also try the crawling thing Sophie J but my knees are a wreck so will give that one a miss I think!

crusading · 03/09/2017 18:57

So sorry sas for your pain that all sounds horrible, although clearly this thread encourages 2hour labours Shock my dd2 arrived this morning at speed and me in denial for most of it!!!!
Yesterday we had a busy day and decided at the end of it to walk and a steep hill with dd1 and her pony to go blackberry picking. So hill walking would be my induction tip x

DandySeaLioness · 03/09/2017 19:29

@helsybells Let me know how many rounds you manage, DP goes back to work and DD to nursery so we can have some friendly competition
@crusading Huge congrats!!!! well done!!!

Sasmac2017 · 04/09/2017 00:07

Yay congrats crusading! Oh no, was yours a horrible quick one too? They don't tell you about those ones in the books do they?
Thanks for your kind words ladies, it really was a hell of a week. Mid wife coming later so hope the boob issue improves ASAP!
Sophiejayne, TTT and hellsybells, I hope your babes come today xxx😊

Congrats crusading! Those short labours are equally as hard as the long ones, just not the same gruelling endurance test! Mine was scary and messy but the recovery has been ok

Hope you're not too sore and are enjoying getting to know your little one

Sas hope you're feeling better love, so unfair you've had all that shit to deal with as well. Keep strong mama Flowers

As for me, DS is 6 days old today! It's flown by. A flurry of visitors has made for a busy week, but DH and DSS1&2 have been fantastic and done so much to make sure I've had recovery time and time to bond with him

DD is absolutely smitten by him and tells everyone he's her baby Smile

helsybells · 04/09/2017 18:08

Hey all didn't manage the yoga dance today. V tired and feeling a bit teary this eve after a v busy day. Just feel so fed up. Thought my waters had broken slightly last night but nothing has happened since. Have tried almost every trick in the book to trigger things. Don't know whether to go with sweep tomorrow at 40+2 because of little ones first day at school. Maybe they could fit me in Weds instead... just feel like a good cry this evening! 😭😭😭

DandySeaLioness · 04/09/2017 19:29

ah @helsybells chin up!! BrewCakeFlowersHard to know what to do about the sweep, but if it makes you feel less stressed then try to move it! I'm having my 4th on Wednesday and booking an induction for Friday...that's my dreams of a water birth out of the window :( for now all the sweeps have done is made me lose more and more of the plug (TMI sorry) and effaced me slightly (the cervix is 1cm thick now). Think a sweep only has around 25% chance of triggering labour.

helsybells · 04/09/2017 19:48

Thanks Dandy! I think I'm gonna leave it tomorrow and see if they can do Weds or something. Just had some nice dinner and a toffee crisp and feeling a lot better but now got mega sharp pains really low down, baby moving tons and BH happening. Part of me wants to "encourage" things and the other part is worried about missing the big day tomorrow. All these pains that I get every evening seem to go away once I sit or lie down. It's really odd...

DandySeaLioness · 04/09/2017 19:55

if they go away when you change what you're doing they're definitely BH. Maybe go have a nice relaxing bath/hot shower?
Glad you're feeling better, I completely lost it when my DP said "where's your round bum gone?" yesterday. He meant it as a joke but I ended up in floods of tears Blush as I'm so puffed up, huge and fed up. Literally can't see my ankles anymore and barely fit in my flip flops. It's all going to be over soon, we can make it!

helsybells · 04/09/2017 20:00

You are right Dandy it's so near the big day but these are just the longest weeks ever! Under two weeks tops for me which would normally fly by but feels like months at the moment!

I so know what you mean - my flip flops are cutting in to my feet too! Also had a friend visit last week and the first thing she said was "oh my god you're massive" - it still stings a week later!!! 😭😥

sophiejayne96 · 04/09/2017 20:45

Any news anyone??
Sweep day tomorrow!! Fingers crossed 🤞

DandySeaLioness · 04/09/2017 20:53

uh how helpful of your friend, hells... not! Why do people feel they have to say things like that, like we don't already know! I'm nearing 41+2 so slightly further along than you but damn time really does slow down.
I've asked the nursery if they can have DD on Thurdsay and Friday (she currently does Mon Tue Wed) - if they say yes tomorrow I'll be wanting an induction on one of those days. We have nobody to take care of her otherwise and the hospital has a policy of inducing when you're 10 days late although they aim for 12 days to give it the best chance.

DandySeaLioness · 04/09/2017 20:54

@sophiejayne96 no news but good luck with your sweep!!

helsybells · 04/09/2017 20:57

Good luck tomorrow SophieJ - think I'm gonna try and postpone til Weds if I can...

Goodness what a nightmare re childcare Dandy - hope it all falls in to place for you! 🤞

DandySeaLioness · 06/09/2017 15:38

How is everyone, any progress?
Got my induction date for Saturday @ 10am.
Not sure how I feel about it, on one hand I'm grateful and can't wait, on the other hand I'm gutted I won't be able to use their birth centre. One positive is that a frend can have our DD for the day so at least that's childcare sorted!

sophiejayne96 · 06/09/2017 15:58

Good luck for Saturday, I'm still losing bits of my plug after the sweep yesterday so it's all good and moving I think, had the odd cramp today but nothing major. Just a waiting game xxx

helsybells · 06/09/2017 16:31

Hey everyone! Had my sweep at lunch time feeling pretty grotty since. BH a bit more frequent and have period type pain which has lessened over the course of the day. Also booked in for induction in 10 days time. Fingers crossed it won't be needed!

God to hear you've had some progress Sophie hope it keeps up!

Where do you have your induction as opposed to birth centre Dandy?

helsybells · 06/09/2017 16:31

Glad not God!! Love autocorrect... not!
