Hahahah he's dying to know but we agreed that one can't find out and not the other so he's said if I really don't want to find out we can wait. I have a feeling he will persuade me to find out though. I keep looking at cute little outfits in the shops wondering what it is though 😂😂 I will probably cave next month and end up booking a private scan haha xx

lisara79 · 25/09/2017 13:54

I have my 12 week scan next Wednesday... waiting seems to last forever! Luckily both my partner and I want to know the genders so we'll find out... I'm more concerned with the possibility of twins at this point... don't need any more complications to this pregnancy lol.

ClaireBear1986 · 25/09/2017 14:03

Deffo @Charlie0692, it would be impossible for him to keep it a secret as well.

I can't wait to find out and then go crazy with the shopping!!

Good luck for Wed @lisara79. Have you had a tough pregnancy so far then? Fingers crossed it is all smooth sailing from here.

lisara79 · 25/09/2017 18:03

@clairebear1986 not particularly difficult really... I'm just old and fat with high blood pressure and a previous miscarriage. So far, thongs have been fine really... morning sickness and sore boobs but nothing too difficult to deal with and no bleeding... I'm just nervous and the midwife face, when I mentioned that there was potentially something hiding on my early private scan, was a picture! lol...

Had my first hospital appointment today (11+3). Took forever as everything had to be translated into English for us by a medical student who was shadowing the doctor. They weren't going to do an ultrasound because it's not routine here but the doctor thought I looked a bit too big so he asked for one. We saw the baby looking surprisingly fully-formed, nothing like the shapeless blob it was a few weeks ago! The sonographer told me if I lay on my side the baby would start jumping around and it did! It even turned and waved its little hand. It was amazing! No pictures to show unfortunately. Anyway my due date has been brought forward by about a week as they think I'm actually 12+1 (which I don't really understand because LMP was only 11 weeks ago). At least I'm a tiny bit closer to the end of the first trimester! Good luck everyone with your own 12 week scans!

amysaurus87 · 27/09/2017 11:28

Got my first midwife appointment tomorrow at 9am...what should I expect to happen?

wierdcrocodile · 27/09/2017 12:15

It's just a lot of questions and form filling in. I had mine on Monday. Felt a bit rushed tbh and i have found out more information myself online!

charlie0692 · 27/09/2017 12:41

I had my 12 week scan yesterday, went really well. They actually dated me 6 days ahead of where I thought I was so they've moved my due date to 5 April now ☺ feel like a weight has been lifted now that I've seen the baby ☺x

AnnaMadden · 27/09/2017 15:30

Great news @charlie0692 it's such a relief when everything is as it should be. Now relax and enjoy it 💕

lisara79 · 28/09/2017 11:38

Great News @charlie0692. Must be such a relief x

FourForYouGlenCoco · 28/09/2017 21:14

Harry sounds like your appt went fab, so lovely to see baby!
Charlie brilliant that your scan was all good, definitely relax now.

Have been quiet on here, had a massive wobble last week and anxiety ate me alive. We ended up booking a second private scan for the weekend which went great, so feeling a bit more confident this week. Scan date through for 2 weeks today so just counting down to that now! Nausea has been easing off this week but back badly tonight so I'm having an early night. I'm in DD's room with her trying to get a decent sleep! Definitely looking a bit tubbier round the middle, it's not a proper bump but I think the wobbly bits are being pushed upwards Grin just wish I was out of the 1st trimester already!

AnnaMadden · 28/09/2017 21:29

I'm feeling huge at the moment considering its so early lol...no idea why the pic turns btw!

AnnaMadden · 28/09/2017 21:31

My bad...it didn't turn once posted lol. Blame baby brain! Grin

charlie0692 · 28/09/2017 22:06

Best of luck for your scan @FourForYouGlenCoco ☺ how many weeks are you @AnnaMadden ? I'm starting to feel like my work skirts and jeans don't fit me anymore 😩🙈 not got a bump yet I just look bloated haha xx

AnnaMadden · 28/09/2017 22:12

12+2 today by last scan. They will confirm at scan next week but they don't think it'll change @charlie0692

Loosemoose28 · 29/09/2017 00:02

My waist has got bigger. Mixture of bloat and fat I think.

HarryHarry · 29/09/2017 03:04

I still just look like I've eaten too much. It's kind of embarrassing, I've been wearing really baggy jumpers to hide it in case people think I've got fat! I'm quite jealous of your nice little bump AnnaMadden

charlie0692 · 29/09/2017 07:44

It's such a cute little bump @AnnaMadden ☺

AnnaMadden · 29/09/2017 09:16

Aww thanks everyone 😘

ClaireBear1986 · 29/09/2017 10:42

That 's a lovely bump @AnnaMadden.
I had my scan yesterday, and you were correct. I was unable to have any tests done. Annoyingly I rang them to rearrange and they told me it wouldn't be an issue.
But I was 10w 6d yest, and so now have to go back again on the 11th Oct.
My 1st impression of the hospital was really poor too. It seemed dirty, nobody seemed to know what they were doing 9asked 4 members of staff where I needed to go and they all told me they didn't know), everyone kept giving me different information about dates etc, a lot of the staff were rude and abrupt and the waiting time was awful.
I'm now really really nervous about giving birth there, as due to the bad reputation it has I was already very worried :(

LizzieSiai · 29/09/2017 11:27

AnnaMadden you bump is adorable!
I'm 12 weeks in sunday and still haven't received a letter for my scan...starting to panic even more now.

ClaireBear1986 that's so annoying! Are you able to transfer your care to another hospital?

AnnaMadden · 29/09/2017 11:33

@ClaireBear1986 oh no that's awful. Are there any other hospitals in your area? You need to be 100% comfortable and confident in the place where you are going to give birth to your precious cargo as well as with the people who are going to deliver it!
How frustrating about the tests too...especially when you asked to check. Hope it's not too much grief getting more time off work for you!

ClaireBear1986 · 29/09/2017 12:40

Unfortunately we do not have many options where we live.
There is another hospital about 40 minutes away, but that seems quite far as traffic is often bad.
I might go and have a look around anyway.

My Midwife has suggested a home birth, and I am seriously considering it now.

Does anyone have any experience of home births that they could share with me please?

Actually told my work today, as I didn't want to keep lying and having to ring in sick!! Feels real now :)

Loosemoose28 · 29/09/2017 12:56

Go on homebirth uk on facebook.

Im intending to have this baby at home unless something in pregnancy gives me a good reason not to x

ClaireBear1986 · 29/09/2017 14:02

Thanks @Loosemoose 28, will have a look on there.

My Mum had my brother at home, but my Mum is like a Super Woman when it comes to birth and seems to just pop babies out in 5 mins.
So I want to hear some stories from "normal" women. Ha ha.

How come you decided to go for a home birth, if you don't mind me asking?
